i run my std scout with railrifle scanner or compact nanohive 2x militia plates 1 militia extender only 450hp atm but people rarely scan me so i find i live a lot longer than a stronger suit that can be scanned |

proto gallente scout is the only suit that I beleive is viable to use armor plates, my setup is like this
proto gal scout suit
1 enhanced shield extender 2 enhanced armor plates 1 complex kin kat 1 enhanced cardiac
standard shotgun tt3 scrambler pistol
f/45 remote explosives
this way you are still fast and can take a couple hits, scout suit bonus and profile dampeners will give you the passive stealth bonus you need without wearing dampeners, you can passively beat everything but a protoscanner

'Dren'/Dragonfly Scout G-1
- -: -: 2x MLT Dampener E: Scanner W: 'Dren' Shotgun/ MLT SMG
1.5k per suit. Invisible to ADV scanners (no skills, can be better with skills), 1-2 shot most med pub suits, 3 shot heavies. You can run what weapons you want or fit damage mods with skills/ better mods, but the key is having the dampeners and scanner on.

Dampeners are a waste of time if you have the skills maxed already. If you have the skill to run proto gk.0 scouts and the profile dampening skill to 5 you already beat everything except for proto scanners. Dampeners have no place on a scout unless you want to beat even the fringe case (usually not an issue unless you are in PC or hardcore FW matches).
Not being seen is the first part, but that's mostly covered by your passive skills and tactics. The second part is being fast enough to take advantage of not being seen. Complex kin cats are always on my fits somewhere. My proto fits usually carry two unless I'm doing something wierd.
Finally, you need enough buffer to make it between cover without being shredded like the paper dragon you are. I usually stick with enhanced armor plates on my proto fits and a mix of basic and enhanced on my advanced or std fits. The complex kin cats minimize the speed drop from the plates and the fitting benefits with higher HP mean I stick with normal plates and forget the ferroscale plates usually.
On these fits I usually go shotgunning to get the high damage output shock factor. But I also love remote explosives. They are one of the only ways to truly OHK a proto stacked logi or heavy. And they involve no confrontation, just some forethought and strategy. Range weapons on a scout are, in my opinion, silly. If you want to use a range weapon, use a medium frame. They are better suited to maximizing the benefits of that weapon type. Your speed and stealth are wasted if you start firing tracers from 60 meters out. |

If you have Scout to Lvl 5, you only need Dampening 3 and a basic or militia dampener to dodge 28dB proto scans. Not worth it to skill Dampening to 5 unless you plan on using dampeners on your medium frames as well, since doing so will only let you avoid the 15dB scanners if you use 4x complex dampeners. |

My general fit is a tty assault scrambler pistol enhanced profile dampener Basic reactive plates Basic sidearm damage mod. re's flux grenades On a valor bpo. Its basic teir but I build around stealth with some survivability and my weapon is set for heavy amp damage to get me out of some situations. It works and hurts so I generally enjoy it.

My Favorite:
Scout gk.0
Highs: - Complex Damage Modifier
Lows: - Enhanced Armor Plate - Enhanced Armor Plate - Complex Armor Repairer - Complex Kinetic Catalyzer
Light Weapon: - Boundless Combat Rifle
Sidearm: - KLO-1 Scrambler Pistol
Grenade: - M-1 Locus grenade
Equipment: - Duvolle Quantum Active Scanner
You get approx. 400 Armor (396 I think) with a sprint speed of 8.5, with dampeners at least to Lv.3 you can dodge every scanner but proto, and if you do find yourself scanned with this set up forego a plate for an enhanced dampener and you are invisible to enemy scans
Hope this helps

Have you considered running a sensor fit on your suit? I've recently started toying around with it and it's been both fun and effective, even though I'm only skilled into scouts half way yet.
Anyways, here's a fitting. Please excuse my inability to provide you with a prototype fitting because I haven't invested the necessary skillpoints yet. Suit: Gallente advanced Scout G/1
High: - 1x Complex Shield Extender - 1x Basic Light Damage Mod
Low: - 2x Enhanced Range Amplification
Weapons: - 1x GEK Assault Rifle
Equipment: - 1x Remote Explosives
Adjust as your skills allow. The idea is that you have a sensor range of at least 50 meters. This is longer than the optimal range of most weapons. That means you will very seldomly be surprised by anyone except other scouts. My strategy is to identify targets before turning the corner, then engage when the target looks the other way. If the target approaches, drop an RE and hide. |

I second the above. In terms of survivability, my method of attack is to rely on situational awareness more than speed or armor. I sometimes will run a stamina mod on my drop uplink suits, but for the most part I go for increased survivability by trying to stay out of sight of my opponents.
I've been running cheap fits for ages to 'gg, scrub' and my go-to fit is the following:
Dragonfly Scout
High: militia precision enhancer (w/ max skills puts my precision at just over 36, catching a lot of mediums, mediums w/ basic damps and up and coming scouts, tourists and light frames - those are the best kills)
Low: militia range extender (scan range 45m on max Gal scout) Low: militia armor rep or basic reactive
light: militia pistol side: militia pistol
EQ: drop or RE
---
Most games an average death toll is 3-4, anything above 4 is "a lot of deaths".... KDR isn't fantastic, typically between 1-2 or so in pub and FW games.
Total HP is about 250, but knowing where 95% of your enemies are, and what way they are facing is huge for survivability and devious scout antics.
Suprised to see you asking for advice, I've run with you a few times and you seem to put the hurt down plenty good on the field.... |

Another +1 for the scan scout suggestion. I have proto scout, precision 5, and range 4 on my scout alt and it's been so refreshing playing with a suit with only 200 EHP. My passive scan range is 60m and my scan precision is 26.77dB using 2x Complex Precision Enhancers and 2x Enhanced Range Amplifiers on an ADV scout with only 70 shield/130 armor. This type of suit only works on certain maps and against certain types of players, but when it works, it WORKS, and is incredibly satisfying. |

After a failed Qsync of domination, our squads were put head to head with each other and I had to deal with DriftwardGÇÖs swift and silent Scout suit. Luckily I could scan him down with my proto scanner but it got me interested in trying out the scout suit again. (I used to fly one in chromosome)
So here is what IGÇÖve thrown together based off what you guys have said here.
High Slots - Complex Damage Modifier Low Slots - Enhanced Kinetic Catalizer - Enhanced Cardiac Regulator Weapon - GÇÿDrenGÇÖ Shotgun Sidearm - N/A - Need 2 PG :( Grenade - C-7 Flux Equipment - Standard Remote Explosive
EHP :: 322 CPU :: 157/162 PG :: 39/39 ISK Cost :: 12,450k
So this is basically is a hit and run fit as all scouts should be, using the remote explosive as it's main offence. (All the Remote Explosive tiers do the same damage but let you carry more.) The shotgun is just for good measure if you get the drop on someone. You could remove Complex Damage Mod for a Complex Shield Extender but you would have to sacrifice the flux nade or the shotgun for something that is less PG hungry.
Anyway pretty cheap IMO and a nice change to the Winmatar Logistics I usually run.

Lt Royal: not sure if you know but the lower tier Flaylocks require 0 PG usage so you may be able to squeeze a Faylock onto your suit if you wanted. You can even grab one in the Minmatar loyalty store without needing any SP investment. |

Dampening is the only passive that applies to other suits, so if you run more than scout it has value.
Plus Complex dampeners can make even the medium suits get below PRO scanners fairly easily so it's one thing to consider. |
