The Duvolle Focused Active Scanner has a scan precision of 15; to hide from it, you would need raise profile dampening to Lv5, scout specialization to lv5, and have 4 low slots filled with Complex Profile Dampeners.
I propose that the scan precision be raised to 16 so that it would only take 3 complex profile dampeners on a gk.0 to hide from it and maybe make a Federation Duvolle Focused Active Scanner have the scan precision of 15 instead. |

I'm pretty sure that the whole reason for that scanner was so that the really paranoid people could have a scanner that is nigh impossible to hide from, so removing it is out.
But nerfing it and making a LP version with the same stats as the current one seems like a good idea. There's already a LP nanite injector that gives 100% armor. |

I think it should get removed.
A scrub's near 1 mil SP makes my 5mil into scouts worthless.
Dead on the ground.... Think I made a wrong turn :/

I'd support removing them.
I don't support changing them so scouts can avoid them easily but medium frames still can't. |

I've never been scanned by one of these. Remember they have a massive PG fitting cost, and only light up a target for 5 seconds. I support removing it, or raising it as OP suggest if only to do something to shut people up about this thing. It's a perception problem that it is on the market, not a reality problem on the field.

I've been scanned before by it and so have others, its not a "perception" problem. Also just because it has a higher PG cost, doesn't mean people still don't use it. |

Really wow. I've just been lucky I guess. What's you under 28 fitting?

I've just been lucky I guess. What's you under 28 fitting? On this alt, I have a Minmatar Scout that has fits with 1 Enhanced Profile Dampener, and that gets me to around a 24 scan profile. |

Hmm.
Focused scanner's only benefit is versus that current maximum triple dampened scout. And is not as proto scanner as others on other attributes.
An ultimate 100% guaranteed unscannable suit would work vs everyone, always getting benefits from it. Having these certified ghosts on field would really change gameplay. The confidence that would give... Tremendous. And the options it would give, maybe even op.
Those are valid points on scan vs damp balancing.

Oh, I wonder why some people see focused scanner as such a threat, it is rare on the field and when seen, it is brought on as a reaction after the highly damped player has already done some damage.
And btw I also wonder if these complainers have tried fitting the focused onto their suits. The PG cost is horrid: Other PRO scanners cost 9 PG while Focused costs 18 PG! That's even more than unmodified PRO rail rifle...
No one runs with focused 'just in case' or as a precaution.

I'm saying that the precision should be increased by one so that it would take 3 complex dampeners instead of 4 and make a LP version like the original. |

No one runs with focused 'just in case' or as a precaution. Scouts see it as a threat (like I) because it requires are ridiculous fitting to counter. Who the **** wants to run four complex profile dampeners ON A SCOUT. The whole purpose of the scout is that you cut out the need for so many damn profile dampeners. Remove it, no one uses it but when they do they remove the fun from a whole class. Scouts already need at least one profile dampener to get below prototype scanners, let's just stop the number of profile dampeners right there, there should never be a need for more than one (especially complex) profile dampener on a scout.
Does anyone remember those red Caldari flags in Manus Peak in early (pretranquility) chromosome?

I see it as an arms race. And as such it's better to have more steps than just 'not-damped-at-all' or 'maxximum-damp'. The same for scanners, many levels are better. For both, sacrifices should be increasing.
I totally understand your feeling in squeezing multiple damps, fitting even one is pain to me.
TLDR: Getting more powerful scan or damp power should require sacrifices. Both fitting damps and the focused scanner already have higher costs.
