You saw the goofup of patch 1.7 with boosters instead of being 10% they instead tumbled the numbers and instead got an extra zero to be 100% instead??
Well its best if we get to look over patch 1.8 BEFORE content lock to improve the game.
Why??
1.8 is INFANTRY balancing patch.???
Now imagine if Nova Knifes get instead of 0 to .5m range they get 0 to 50m range?
Or hey!! how about if shotguns get instead of 0 to 10m range they get 0 to 100m range.
Oh man!! a sniper shotgun!!
Or if kincats get a 120% speed boost per module??
Or if reptools get 1000hp per second??
I can go on and on but hey its better to be able to look at the FULL patch notes ahead of time and point out problems.
Even right now patch 1.7 notes are INCOMPLETE.

I'm sure they do not know for sure what is going to be in 1.8 and what needs to be pulled out. from what i heard they submit it to sony and must get an okay before anything goes live.
And if they put up patch notes right now something as simple as "Bolt pistol is coming in 1.8" then a week from release they have to pull out due to a bug found do you know the amount of rage and b*tching there would be.

Except the patch notes for 1.7 didn't say that the module was going to be a 100% boost. That's why it was a mistake, because it was supposed to be one thing instead of another. If the notes had said 100% and the game gave 100%, then it'd be workign as intended.
I would like to see the notes, though, as I am curious as to what's coming. |

I think CCP is actually playing it smart by not releasing patch notes 2 weeks ahead of schedule. They should release them either the Day of, and be consistent with this, or release them at most 2 days in advance to get any last minute feed back. And prepare for a hotfix the day after release.
But hey, they don't have me as their PR or Release manager. If they did, they'd be winning! lol

They should at least release certain things ahead of time, like with the rifles they released the info well ahead of time. It was smart, because our feedback resulted in an increase in the RR spool up time which was small but probably helps keep it from being totally OP.

Weather you like it or not, tanks are actually a viable thing to use in this game right now. CCP did a good job in balancing them. They might be a tad bit overpowered right now, but honestly its better to have a feature that's a tad bit overpowered then to have a feature that's overwhelmingly underpowered. The only reason infantry like you or I get angry now is because we have literally zero breathing space now. CCP needs to either up the player count to something like 20v20 or create some sort of infantry only game mode. This way people like myself can actually play the game outside of a sica railgun tank......

I'll admit that there are a few things that slip by that really should have been noted... RE stickiness is a good example.
On another note, I don't expect much in 1.8, is suspect it will be another stage setter patch much like 1.6 was for the vehicle overhaul. I suspect we'll see a few more suits (probably the heavies), scout and logi refresh the EP noted in the blog form earth is month and maybe one map and couple sidearms in 1.9. |

now, i had been in the same class, with the same people, learning and doing the same thing, for 4 years. we kept highly detailed notes, hell, half our grade was subject to the accuracy of our notes.
so senior year end project comes out, im fiddling with an arm on our robot for about a week that isnt working right. I ask our head programmer if he changed anything, he goes "yeah, i made some changes to the code were using" and im like "okay, what did you change so i can fix the errors were getting here?", his response, his FREAKIN response "oh, i didnt write it down".
queue waiting 2 weeks for the programming team to dig through over 5 MILLION lines of poorly written clusterfuck code between the new and old files looking for what is changed.

Yeah, I'm mostly talking about the hotfixes. Like the HMG being restored to its former glory. I was very confused as to why a heavy actually killed me several times one day until I learned that that was hot-fixed in.
There were not mentions of it in the announcements pages either. Stuff like that just happens and very few people know about it until it spreads by word of mouth.

Re 1.8 patch notes - I'd love to give you more info but there's quite a bit still in the air. A lot of the development teams have gone home for the holidays, but we'll share out more when we can.
Will 1.8 still be following the monthly release cadence or will it ship a bit later due to the holidays?
It'll be shipping later - but haven't nailed down when yet.
Take your time, get it right. We appreciate there are technicalities involved and yes of course we want it ALL now but I guarantee you will have a much more happy customer base if you dont rush, regardless of what everyone keeps saying.
I have been a huge nay-sayer in the past but since 1.7 you guys have gave me some hope. Its the vision of what this game can become that keeps me here. I am sure this applies to a lot of others too.
So , to recap - Take your time and do things right. For all the mistakes CCP has made, you still have a game that at times gives me way more enjoyment than 95% of other games I have ever played.
I am probably in a minority there but that's fine by me. |

How dare you take off just like almost everyone else!

Don't like your free stuff? Then don't play and you won't need to worry about getting it.
God forbid people enjoy the holidays with family and not at work. |

They should release them either the Day of, and be consistent with this, or release them at most 2 days in advance to get any last minute feed back. And prepare for a hotfix the day after release.
But hey, they don't have me as their PR or Release manager. If they did, they'd be winning! lol except they usually release notes ahead of time like in EVE, because when people dont know ahead of time in EVE, they end up getting screwed, losing months of focus because they were unprepared, and then they get mad and yell at CCP and etc etc etc. most fo teh mroe successful patches and balacning passes were with MONTHS of open discussion on what is changed where in a public thread for the playerbase Yea and EvE also doesn't have monthly updates and doesn't have to go through Sonys QA process. In general, we try to release patch notes about a week before the release date. Depending on how things go. Great so no new heavies prepare yourself for another uneventful patch like 1.4-1.6

Because this game seems to be severely lacking if full stats. Like, REs are sticky or very many other changes that were made this patch that were not included in the notes We (Community) compile patch notes from the various Dev teams a few weeks prior to Deployment. Sometimes, things are added in subsequent to that point which require no additional changes to the client (server-side, 'hot fixed') - which could explain some of what you're saying. Also, it's possible that some smaller changes can slip through the cracks and the teams might forget to send over the changes to us. We'll do our best though! :) Yeah, I'm mostly talking about the hotfixes. Like the HMG being restored to its former glory. I was very confused as to why a heavy actually killed me several times one day until I learned that that was hot-fixed in. There were not mentions of it in the announcements pages either. Stuff like that just happens and very few people know about it until it spreads by word of mouth. HMG hotfix was clearly mentioned here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=129785&find=unread |

At this point what does it matter as long as Dust 514 manages to implement something to combat the decreasing player counts ??
