Tanks have been buffed for the introduction of MTAC and Jet fighters, which will be here in 2017.
Im sure dusts community of 5 players and associated dev alts will be thankful when they arrive.

I was thinking about this the other day and even if they came out with proto tanks with this insane survivability, if they also introduced webs it wouldn't matter if it took you forever to the kill the tank if it can't move.
If it can't move it'll just stay there until it runs out of ammo. Once it runs out of ammo it's just dead in the water and useless.

If the were to introduce ADV and PRO tank chassis then the logical fix would be to give STD AV the stats of current PRO AV, and to reconfigure the ADV and PRO to a match the new tanks accordingly.

Honestly all the tankers who are defending the current Tank vs AV balance are either lying to themselves or haven't realized this, hell I only just realized it today when looking at the vehicle skills. |

This is perhaps the best and most damning point about the "new tanks"
They supposedly cleared away all the dross to build upon militia and standard tanks, but all they have done is make AV so weak (even pro to AV verses standard tanks) that there is literally no way they can introduce any other kinds of tank that people will actually use.
Instead of making it better they have (yet again) dug themselves into a corner.

There are other vehicles besides tanks in the game.
If you increase light weapon AV you make every one of these vehicles even more useless. That is unless you want to have LAVs and dropships with the survivability of tanks. At some point in time people are going to have to just accept that tanks are going to be a huge headache for infantry and instead of killing a tank disabling and suppression is the best option for light AV.
Let the heavy weapons deal with tanks. Lets the tanks deal with tanks. Let the tanker class get rejuvinated so we get the point where you don't have to worry about tanks because your own team has it's own tanks to keep them busy.

I actually support the idea of infantry analogs as LAV turret weapons, stick a forge gun on an LAV, stick a swarm launcher on thier too, LAVS would become a high damage threat but would still be increadibly vulnerable.
I by no way mean that LAV mounted forges, swarms and plasma cannons should be mounted on dropships or HAVS.

Trick AV into using the webifier to immobilize the tank, and then wait until their guard is down.
Little do they know, that immobilized tank has a Mobile CRU inside spawning tons of infantry to slaughter all of the people who switched to AV.

Maybe if a tank fits an extra extender or plate, it'll survive one more shot or volley, but that's it. Proto tanks will only be able to engage more often than std. Won't be much tougher. Might see dual tanking more. I doubt they'll be that good except in the hands of really good tankers. In chrome, gunlogis, sicas, and sagaris' all died in 10 seconds if they weren't piloted by good tankers. They tankers made them powerful, not the tank. It needs to return to that.

On one of the loading screens CCP already has symbols for light, medium, and heavy ground and aerial vehicles. So they have yet to introduce medium ground vehicles, medium aerial vehicles, and heavy aerial vehicles. |

The LAV passenger should be able to fire at least their sidearm.
If they could fire their main it would be fatties wouldn't even have to dismount and murder taxis would consist of the heavies driving up swapping seats and shooting up the on foot infantry.
So at the moment we have several methods of taking out tanks.
Railgun turrets either static or on tanks. The first tend to all get blown up by forge gunners and tanks to farm WP in the opening minutes. Forge Guns. Not really an option for a new player as they require a level 5 skill to unlock... You can use a MLT. They seem to be deadly in the right hands. They are essentially a waddling rail gun.
Swarms, good for anti LAV duties or dropship ships that get to close to the ground. Only use by themselves against HAV is to get them to trigger their hardeners and hopefully back away.
AV grenades. Have to be close and more of a deterent even to LAVs.
Proximity mines ... If you know where they are going to park fine and even then they really only are triggers for a bunch of REs.
REs... 3 bumper stickers can take out a tank. However their stickiness is variable and tanks seem to be transparent if moving or hardened. That and you have to be standing behind a tank or throwing half a dozen all over their chassis. Of course you can premount them on a jeep and play kiss chasey with a HAV.
So plenty of options.
Turrent - the sound a tankers pants makes when he finds out the four swarm militia doing squats around him aren't AFK.

I want hyper expsensive HAV which I can run as Bane Blades....what's wrong with that. Halve the speed, increase the size by 2, give me an AoE demolisher cannon, and watch the map, or my 2-5 Million ISK tank burn.
