or rather it is.. just we don't have to be in ur face all the time matching you for range. now we have the option of getting in your face or staying away.
as for what to do. i suggest you do what everyone else has done and spec into them. the fact their is almost identical amounts of each on the field is far more balance than we have ever had. i get killed by geks and duvolle's just as much as any other weapon and i kill just as much with either weapons so as far i'm concerned there are all ok. .

yes i said it. even standard gear should be able to beat your Duvolle. if you use the assault rifle in its optimal, then it still works beautifully. you can't spray at 100+ meters and get kills like you used to.
Then whence SP at all? Shouldn't they just set a few standard weapons and armor thingees (etc.) and everyone have access to them all off the bat?
Big red button that respecs your SP on demand.
Protos only get points from killing protos.

Do you have proof your being torn apart by people with only Op. 1? My buddy is running around with a basic CR, but with Prof 5. I run around with RR of all types and have prof 4. Did you ask people what levels they had? |

I put close to 3 mil into my combat rifle, and I use the standard one most of the time, you cant tell how much people put into a gun just by which one they are using, not everyone in this game is a proto *****. On a side note, I have a little over 2 mil into Assault rifles and I still kill people just as well with my trusty Exile. |

If other CR users were like me they saved up > 1m in preparation for 1.7. If you're getting torn to shreds, its not by someone only spending 12k sp to unlock the gun...
AR's are also far from useless, but you need to get in close. If you haven't studied CCP's rifle range comparison i suggest you do so. AR no longer win the 'not long range' game. Now you actually have to know your weapon and fight battles on your terms.
AR = short range
CR = short - medium range
SR = medium - long range
RR = long range
I'll bet your 'shooting bbs' because your engaging targets outside your optimal range. Try getting closer, i'll bet it helps.

I really enjoy the new weapons. I find that I still do very well with my good old exile. I get slaughtered by the combat rifle at close range and by the rail rifle at long range as it should, be diversity Is good. The AR is still great at the midrange and on my Lt nothing deals better than running around going positive in my staff suit with my staff AR and going positive in a match (6/5) |

Doesnt matter how many skillpoints you have in your assault rifle skills if you cant aim properly.
And im not saying that in an attempt at being condescending, because the assault rifle is a pretty hard weapon to master (speaking from experience here). In fact, in the beginning i thought the AR was so hard to use that I just abandoned it in favor of mass drivers because i found it easier to lob grenades around me and using splash damage.
But due to a rumor that the mass drivers were getting nerfed I started practicing with the AR again, and even if I have invested a decent amount of sp in those skills, it was mostly practice I needed to get a feel for the weapon (now I get a good k/d-ratio despite using bpo-assault rifles only) |

To be honest I'm a really horrible shot!! Not sure if its the size of my TV or the large amounts of beer & cheeba I consume well playing lol
I did buy a new dualshock, that helped!!

FYI you don't have enough Damage mods stacked up. Today I ran a series of Starter + BPO suits to take advantage of the No ISK spent ability that some of us have to make ISK and was shocked at how quickly my Exile AR with 3x Militia Light Damage Modifier ripped apart any dropsuit. Just as quick as a combat rifle or rail rifle of similar meta levels I managed to enjoy myself going after proto bears and on several occasions (Meta 1 or 0 only fits) managed to get over 1500 wp running both my dragonfly scout and my minmatar starter fits. Skill and practice will save you more than your equipment, and if you have to rely on equipment, it may be better to rely on a LogiBro and go plate heavy, there are lots of people out there willing to rep your armor if you just ask or find an armor repairing Nanohive.

you don't understand the game then.
it not about being the best player in the game just because you have proto gear. it's about how skilled you with that gear and how you use it.
I can easily take on few proto suits with ease and I don't even use proto, because I don't need them.
this game isn't about being the head honcho, its about what you do with your equipment and skills
also, just like EVE, anyone can kill anyone. a game where only proto can kill proto would literally kill this game

If you're using the AR, you're doing it wrong. Use a Rail Rifle or a Tank and you're good

im not mad, im just saying that im one of the few jack of all trades in this game and that im actually a good one because of how I have things skilled.
also I wasn't mad, yelling etc. if I said this in person It would seem normal but I tiny bit louder(like how I talk with friends)
