i have collected the burning husks of the following tanks
3 Railgun Gunnlogis 2 railgun Sicas 1 blaster Sica 6 blaster Somas 1 rail Soma 1 Blaster Madrugar
thats 14 tanks in as many games
my fit? i just added AV ganades to my demolitions class and ran around with REs + STD packed AV while occasionally switching to my prox class at a supply depot to lay some traps or running around with both explosive types.
i think i have identified the "imbalance" that the AV infantry are complaining about, before in 1.6 you slaughtered a tank, you downright said "ima kill you" and it was game for all but the best tankers.
so tankers for the last 6 months have been fighting against this and have learned to tank VERY carefully, while AV infantry have learned to stand their groud and shoot from a stationary position the moment they see the tank.
this has made tankers VERY tactics minded, always watching their position, always planning their escape. and it has made AV infantry soft as none of them had to develop any sort of tactics or stratagy to killing tanks, it was a simple point, shoot, dead situation.
the problem AV infantry have no is that they actually have to FIGHT tanks, and tanks can actually come out on top! AV isnt the IWIN button it once was, and now that AV infantry have to work for the kill they are throwing in the towel.
i diddnt really enjoy slaughtering tanks as infantry in 1.6 despite how easy it was. now i have to actually FIGHT the tank, use my head and put the same amount of effort into killing it as the person in the drivers seat is trying to stay alive.
in short, AV infantry you need to actually FIGHT tanks now so stop your QQ and start using your head, because im managing jsut fine without even skilling into proper AV.
i had ALOT of fun duking it out with rolling metal killing machines, sometimes coming out on top, sometimes getting killed, and sometimes just maiming tanks. i enjoy fighting tanks now as its a battle of wits "can i out think this tank? where am i going to attack from? where is the tank going to go next? where is the tanks escape route?" |

I heard you could just plop some RE's on a LAV and ram a tank. Is this true? If so i have a LAV blueprint and i'm not afraid to use it. |

its true but it isnt any fun, i did it ONCE a few days ago to see how it worked so i could inform my tanker friends how to counter it and i refuse to do it anymore.
it wasnt any fun.
just like how i shoot a warning shot at assault dropship pilots to tell them to move on to another base rather then just shooting them out of the air.... its just no fun having an instant "iwin" button |

I totally agree with this post!! I've been having a blast destroying tanks since 1.7. Me, my assault Forge Gun, actual planning and strategic positioning, and 1 blaster tank in my squad racked up 11 tank kills (5 for me, 6 for him) in one match earlier today. And I am getting better vs infantry having to rely on my SMG more due to the FG nerf.

a scout with AV nades, remotes and a plasma cannon is a tank destroying machine i bet. i was doing well with just 2 of the 3 but the ability to sneak up AND having an actual AV primary will probably increase my odds by quite alot.
Plasma cannons wreak tanks BTW, hell i killed a weakened tank (not counted above) with a 20gj rail turret on my LAV.... |

Do you not see a problem? You destroyed 14 tanks in how many games? 14! Since when was there 14 tanks to be destroyed in a whole day?? FORTEEN!
You can kill all the clown car tankers you want, they can just keep calling in more & more because they're cheaper than dropsuits. And you can't kill a top tanker right now in 1.7.
Tanking once took skill. Now anybody can tank and make money and rack points. |

so your complaint is that people are using tanks.... rather then them being unkillable...
its not rediculas that there are tanks on the field... thats kinda the point of having them in a game...
there is no problem whatsoever with tanks being used.
the most kills on the same tanker i got through the day was 2, they stopped calling in their tanks after that. |

I killed 7 in one game pre 1.7 w/ my corpmates. I killed 5 in one game more times than I can count post 1.7 As a corp/squad we've killed 12 in one game. 12! At 75k ISK a pop, tanks just keep filing in because its cost effective to use them over a decent dropsuit.
Tanks have gone from skilled to just cheap spam... and what do we get for killing them? Less ISK, more risk.
Im a tanker. The best tank I ever built was a 1.7 Soma... I bought 10 of them last Tuesday and so far only lost 3(all to rail turrets) through Thursday(I haven't played since then).
But I know Im an exception. Because Im a good AVer and Tanker(they go hand in hand). |

the price drop and the speed are the only valid complaints ive heard from anyone on the forums to be honest.
and yes i do believe they are too cheap for what they are, the power of the item itself feels pretty close to right though, maybe a slight AV buff is in order (very slight) |

You would think...but it struggles.
First you have to be dampened to sneak up to a tank, got to plant 3 REs before they move.
Then if you did that you got to land at least 1 PlC shot, you'll probably only get 1, and have to land all your AV nades.
If you've gotten through shields then you've probably won as the REs will do 5400 dmg to armor if they dont harden.
Too many things the tank can do to get out of it though, hardeners (which on a shield tank can last a helluva long time), or zoom off, or insta kill you.
Feasible against Maddys but not really so against a competent Gunnlogi unless you got help. 2 scouts with REs, now THAT is the AV to be feared. |

Unless you put on a hack suit when you get in that tank. It really feels that you pretty much have to have tanks on your side to be effective. With their new cost though having someone run tanks every match is actually viable.

They actually last longer on Armor tanks. Shield hardeners just get a slight resistance increase.
On the subject of RE LAVs, I've both been hit by one (I was out in the middle of nowhere and saw him when he was about 30m away before he made a 90 degree turn and hit me perfectly), and shot an attempted assassin. I didn't even realize the second guy was laden with REs until all the +5s popped up. Must've been at least 6 he had on that thing.

So you are basicly using RE's instead of of the weapons that are designed to destroy tanks becasue RE's work better than those weapons? Funny that you think this is balanced.
Apart from that this wil not work very well in FW as you could get a bann for destroying you own RE's...

i did it with something that SHOULDNT work....
imagin what i could do if i actually had SP spent in AV weapons....
the fit only really works on the post 1.7 tankers (the new ones) as the rest dont let anything get that close to them
so all those tankers were less then a week old and new to the whole thing. poor guys.

you know this is the feeling I got from driving tanks, some times infantry would be smart and catch me out of position, instapop me, or work with their tanks to get me, and other time it was some idiot in the middle of the field popping off swarm, AV nades, or worse STD nades, thinking that they would, and should win that fight.
I haven't really said that too much as I stopped running AV builds ago when they broke tanks to the point that it wasn't worth skilling and running AV, but I might have to give it another try now, at least so I can speak with some authority. tho I hate the ground game now its playing like tanking used to be, where all that mattered was running pro FOTM, or you just were a dead weight to your team. |

PLC is little more then supplemental damage on tanks, any tanker that gets taken down by a lone PLC deserves the tank loss. |

i have noticed that.
in tight cities its decent at getting the tank out of the city but no destruction with the PLC yet....
new to other forms of AV... im a remote explosives vetren though so i think theres a skill gap im not used to preventing me from really getting the most out of the PLC. |
