After what i believe was 12 games tonight, i am utterly convinced this is the finest patch yet for Dust 514. And here is why:
1 - Tanks are balanced - i know a lot of you forge gunners are whinging at having to be A) good and B) quick to kill a tank but frankly its balanced better than it ever has been. Tanks are not OP, far from it and they are as vulnerable to AV and turrets as ever before. There are no super fits, no super clever ass hattery at all to make tanks insane, they are simply balanced now, period.
2 - FW is hilarious - Friendly fire is pretty funny, sure its annoying, had someone shotgun reviving me over and over as he thought it was funny until i shot him in the face as rezed. FW is a wonderful place now and makes the game feel so much bigger. Orbitals are simply amazing and i'm already starting to feel the connection with the EVE dudes in orbit. I love it
3 - The Guns and Aim Assist feel a huge amount more balanced, scrambler rifles taking on rail rifles et al, it all feels as if its the skill with the weapon that will make that difference now.
4 - Scouts work again, seriously why cant people see this? i am running scout and doing very well
5 - The tryhards (i.e. Weezer from Ancient Exiles) are draining the game nicely of Aurum gear and isk, ISK sinks are a dangerous thing in any game and having Dusts isk reserves depleted through FW will mean soon that even the tryhards (AE) will soon be out of money cept their corrupt, hoarding CEOs who will plead poverty.
6 - TANK GANGS - OMG fun
so in conclusion, this patch is excellent for the average Joe Schmoes like me who were never really elite at anything, now tanks are as open as ever, guns and suits feel good and compliment players skills and not over the top with aim assist and generally the game feels like a much more open and exciting world.

Disagree, if we are ever to have a game that isnt so shockingly one dimensional, (infantry vs infantry) there needs to be an opening up of tanks and dropships so that if people want, they can swarm with them. This is the EVE way.
We spent all night tonight sitting in tanks in a gang at the redline waiting for other tanks to come in, we then raced to them, engaged and retreated. We didnt win all the engagement and our opponents were doing exactly the same, it was perhaps one of the most enjoyable times i have had in this game.
CCP did exactly the right thing with this patch, opening up tanks to anyone who wants to use them AND still be competative. The elitists hate this but screw it, im all for it if it makes people play the game more. |

I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

A staggering amount of people expect to just run the same suit, with the same gun, same equipment, same tactics over and over. These players frankly are stuck in a rut and need to be pulled out of it.
Tankers were just the same, they knew the fits, they knew the tactics and dominated the map making noone want to come at them.
Now a noob in a miltia sica on the redline is as dangerous as one of these players in his complex madrugar, that is balance, those who cannot see this are blind.
AV infantry equipment is also still VERY potent but takes a team to kill a tank now - bet the proto stompers hate that.
TBH i really dont get what peoples issues are with this patch, so much has moved forward |

Your point 6 is one of the things that are NOT fine with this patch. If you are not a vehicle driver , you are not enjoying this game 80% of the time.
Im interest in knowing what you are running as a scout. Im doing surprisingly well with scouts too but im using them with A.Combat rifle.

Infantry combat will become more interesting once Scouts and Heavies are buffed, until then it will just be Med Frame Vs Med Frame.
Cant wait to annoy some people in my Scout suit using EWAR.

I usually do well with my scout a lot too, but when I'm running behind someone they shouldn't turn around and shoot me. I'm supposed to be a stealth role, why do I get caught on radar constantly? Scanners now seem to detect me more than ever now, even with a basic and enhanced dampener.
Scouts do have their problems still. I'm hoping we will get a patch of our own, rather than more guns to kill scouts with by spraying and praying.

I'm sure it was enjoyable for you sitting at the redline camping it, but I doubt it was fun for the people repeatedly being ganked by tanks that they could do very little about.

TBH i really dont get what peoples issues are with this patch, so much has moved forward I probably should've elaborated a bit more. The core balancing of tank v tank is better put together. Fittings and SP matter, but skill matters more. Infantry v infantry kind of has the opposite right now as there's quite a bit of SP > skill disparity. Passive skills like proficiency and shield/armor upgrades need to go while modules like rechargers/energizers, armor reppers, electronics, and passive scanning need a stronger presence. You know all those AUR pre-made fits on the market? I actually want a high enough base HP to actually see them viable.

2 AE has lots of ISK they're not going to run out soon A because they've got plenty of land in PC B TUL wont get rid of them PX1, OH and the such will.

I think there's more to it than simply buffing scouts and heavies. That's the polishing a turd approach that's been going on for far too long. It might be time for a full rework.

Luv CEO No, I'm a Matari Assault who is still waiting for CCP to fix his suit. It's a speed tank. Was semi viable at the beginning of uprising until speed tanking got broken with hit detection getting fixed and TTK dropping. Then they slap our uber-low EHP suit with 5 high slots with a shield extender penalty. Having 5 highs and only 2 lows (one of which almost always has to have a CPU upgrade)
I disagree, but for reasons wholly unrelated to special tricks or tactics. Minassault is usable, but you have to play 5x smarter than everyone else to make money doing so. Scouts out speed us, other assaults and logi's out tank us (even the Minmatar logi), basically anything you can do in it you could be doing 5x more effectively in almost any other suit. That's just ridiculous.

weezer isn't in AE, he's outer heaven, i'm also curious what make you think scout are good now, aside from the fact it's easier to sneak behind all the RR and CR who are always ADS'ing, and also... do you still activate your shield booster all the time in your scrub tank before taking any damage

you never play solo. you're always in proto suits, proto weapons, whilst grouping with the SAME PEOPLE all in proto suits.
you only see the game from your own, personal, skewed perspective.
play solo, get stomped on by the same tryhards (AE as you say, try facing a full squad), get destroyed by 5 tanks in the same game, then write this again.

...generally speaking regardless of patch hasn't Dust always been better to play while in a squad rather than playing solo?
And if you play solo, you can't use the same tactics as in squad anyway, and vice verca. And if I recall correctly, he doesn't always play with the same people, or use proto suits all the time.
And if you play against a full squad of AE... ever heard of the "Leave Battle", option?
Tanks I agree are fine now. Infantry just need to adapt to it. I, even as a dropship pilot, am enjoying tanks right now just as much as infantry because I adapted to it.
If you want to play solo, find a new way to do it. If you don't adapt, you will be crushed by change.
If you can't accept change, you will fail in this world.
Adapt or die.

Not so. I literally joined TUL a few days ago so that remark is irrelevant. I've said before and I'll say it again - play the game as you wish, and how you want, with what you want and how you want to use it, but don't complain when people who have fun using the FoTM option of the normal TK'ing option beat you, because at the end of the day, its your choice.
If you can't accept change, you will fail in this world.

Weezer isn't even in AE. Already your first statement about us is blatantly wrong. ISK sinks are not dangerous as if you gave it some thought you would realize that the protostompers losing their ISK would consequently make them stop proto stomping. Pub ISK comes out of thin air, so does ISK farmed from clone generation in PC. This game NEEDED an ISK sink.
We probably won't run out of money considering our districts generate more than enough to pay for protostomping for weeks in 1 day of clone generation.
This is the part that I find really funny. "their corrupt, hoarding CEOs who will plead poverty". Of course, we are protostomping tryhards, you got that right (you do it too in EVERY video there, PyrexMCGEE). Yes, maybe our CEOs hoard isk, as they send out paychecks containing 95% of the clone goo money generated every two weeks, leave most of that 5% sitting in the corp wallet and treat themselves to their fair share. But, for some reason, our CEOs are corrupt according to you.
Not only have I never heard you elaborate as to why our CEOs are corrupt, but I'm pretty sure you've never even held a conversation with our CEOs. For some reason "corrupt" just seems to fit nicely in a sentence along with protostomping tryhards, then?
