After what i believe was 12 games tonight, i am utterly convinced this is the finest patch yet for Dust 514. And here is why:
1 - Tanks are balanced - i know a lot of you forge gunners are whinging at having to be A) good and B) quick to kill a tank but frankly its balanced better than it ever has been. Tanks are not OP, far from it and they are as vulnerable to AV and turrets as ever before. There are no super fits, no super clever ass hattery at all to make tanks insane, they are simply balanced now, period.
2 - FW is hilarious - Friendly fire is pretty funny, sure its annoying, had someone shotgun reviving me over and over as he thought it was funny until i shot him in the face as rezed. FW is a wonderful place now and makes the game feel so much bigger. Orbitals are simply amazing and i'm already starting to feel the connection with the EVE dudes in orbit. I love it
3 - The Guns and Aim Assist feel a huge amount more balanced, scrambler rifles taking on rail rifles et al, it all feels as if its the skill with the weapon that will make that difference now.
4 - Scouts work again, seriously why cant people see this? i am running scout and doing very well
5 - The tryhards (i.e. Weezer from Ancient Exiles) are draining the game nicely of Aurum gear and isk, ISK sinks are a dangerous thing in any game and having Dusts isk reserves depleted through FW will mean soon that even the tryhards (AE) will soon be out of money cept their corrupt, hoarding CEOs who will plead poverty.
6 - TANK GANGS - OMG fun
so in conclusion, this patch is excellent for the average Joe Schmoes like me who were never really elite at anything, now tanks are as open as ever, guns and suits feel good and compliment players skills and not over the top with aim assist and generally the game feels like a much more open and exciting world.
GG CCP all round
If you disagree, you were likely an elitist protostomper whose special tactic or trick no longer works and no amount of whining will bring it back, adapt or leave the game, thanks.

Disagree, if we are ever to have a game that isnt so shockingly one dimensional, (infantry vs infantry) there needs to be an opening up of tanks and dropships so that if people want, they can swarm with them. This is the EVE way.
We spent all night tonight sitting in tanks in a gang at the redline waiting for other tanks to come in, we then raced to them, engaged and retreated. We didnt win all the engagement and our opponents were doing exactly the same, it was perhaps one of the most enjoyable times i have had in this game.
CCP did exactly the right thing with this patch, opening up tanks to anyone who wants to use them AND still be competative. The elitists hate this but screw it, im all for it if it makes people play the game more. |

A staggering amount of people expect to just run the same suit, with the same gun, same equipment, same tactics over and over. These players frankly are stuck in a rut and need to be pulled out of it.
Tankers were just the same, they knew the fits, they knew the tactics and dominated the map making noone want to come at them.
Now a noob in a miltia sica on the redline is as dangerous as one of these players in his complex madrugar, that is balance, those who cannot see this are blind.
AV infantry equipment is also still VERY potent but takes a team to kill a tank now - bet the proto stompers hate that.
TBH i really dont get what peoples issues are with this patch, so much has moved forward |
