I just noticed that the Rail rifle is extremely similar to the Duvolle tactical rifle before it had its ROF nerfed. Extremely accurate, good at CQC, and high clip; with a scope to boot. Aside from the negligible spool time this weapon is a monster. Although it is similar to the breach the rof feels faster (well it is), and the bullets feel stronger (well they are)
At least this FOTM boat is easy to jump into.

Got RRs up to proficiency lvl 3 and I can tell you that they are not all that good up close.They are adequate,but they have quite a bit of recoil (especially the assault variant which has no scope) unlike the Duvolle Tac,which makes hitting targets in CQC quite a task.
Also,the -10% to shields is enough is more of a negative than when the Duvolle Tac was OP.I will admit though,it is hellastrong,but still get's outclassed by the ScR.

Strafing greatly reduces the recoil of the RR. |

I'd use a Combat Rifle on a Minmatar Dropsuit, looks cooler there. Also, I am pre-empting a bonus to Combat Rifles for the Minmatar Assault. Last time I saw you you were Gallente sorry ^^. The Combat Rifle has insane damage per second by the way try it, about 600 for the advance variant. |

I gave up using my Gallente suit, first I was gimped then I became OP and now I am fodder. I use the Combat rifle, I don't use Caldari tech :). I just used a Aurum RR to compare it to the breach. |

If that is, why not remove the Assault variants for the other rifles?, Those unnecessary as we already have an Hybrid Assault rifle...

I do quite well with the RR myself, I recommend the regular version over the assault though. The recoil is a bit lower on the regular RR vs the assault (both hipfire and ADS) so you have to make sure to use distance and the terrain to your advantage and I suggest either carrying a scanner or having an ally who does so you can selectively engage your foes. This also helps when you do get into CQC so you know when an enemy is about to go around a corner and you get begin your spool before they do. I can win in CQC but I usually need an advantage of some kind, usually getting the drop of them or good strafing, but against a good AR or CR user it really isn't much of a contest. I find the RR a much more tactical weapon myself as it allows for far more selective engagement and the only tactic is pretty much "run straight at 'em". I am looking at you AR users, although your littered bodies in the open areas between objectives means you might want to reconsider your tactics.

As a Gallente who armor tanks, lolno RRs aren't invincible. I get up close on someone and they're scared for their life. I really enjoy it because I rip through them with ease by then.

At range it sucks big ones though, and for some reason I do ridulously less damage against shields, even though it supposedly does 90 to shields, it seems almost like 70 percent on shields

Hell no you're not!
The other thing I noticed about RRs is that they melt advanced suits and lower,but seem to have just a slight bit of trouble with Protos.Maybe it's lag,maybe it's something else,but I have a harder time melting through their shields,and armor.
Something else that I'm trying to get use to with the RRs is that sweet spot with the range.

The Tac is a copy of Amarr tech and the burst is a copy of Matari tech. The Breach is a copy of Caldari tech, so the Assault variants of the other three are copies of Gallente tech.
That is why the Assault Variants of the other three have the same cost (SP and ISK) as the Variant Plasma Rifles.

I don't like the CR one bit.I feel like the RR just outclasses it.CR just doesn't have enough punch against high end dropsuits for me,and the burst on it is terrible for my play style.
RR has some recoil that takes some getting use to,but the range and overall damage just makes it better.
At the end of the day though,to each their own.

Honestly the Rail Rifle needs a nerf so it at least doesn't out DPS the AR in its optimal, and less kick so it can be used as a longer ranged weapon. Not even close to the old tac,the current RR acts more towards the breach ar of old because of it's accarcy and Low rof(except the recoil) compared to the OLD Tac's rof of 700ish. As for it's cqc capabilities it's manageable BUT it gets outdone by other guns in CQC with higher rates of fire(Scr) and most improtant bigger clip size.

At the end of the day though,to each their own. yeah i feel the opposite, i find the burst style works perfectly for me, in fact the only issue i'm having is the lack of hp on my suit, half the time if i'd just had that extra tenth of a second i'd have won the firefight. The CR does have issues at range though, its definitely a close to mid range weapon, while the rail is best at mid-long range. however like you said to each his own.

I kinda like both, but I went full on RR because its the first Caldari weapon that isn't extremely niche, so I liked it a ton.
The CR and RR are both good competitors with the original AR IMO.
DUST is a half decent game.
