A lot of people saw this coming weeks ago and were laughing at the people talking about how they were going to protostomp FW. Once the market comes into play FW will be a method for shifting isk from the fat wallets of PC farmers to individual players with small amounts of isk. As in Eve, it is supposed to be a middle ground between starter fit pub matches and the big time high stakes fights. That means encouraging people to use suits that a newer player can use and realistically fight against.
ie: FW in eve is fought almost entirely with the two smallest classes of ships which typically cost no more than 10 million isk each, fully fitted. Nullsec on the other hand is fought using ships that cost hundreds of millions of isk each. You're effectively complaining that is it a waste of money to use a blinged out battleship in FW. Well, duh. You're meant to balance your risk and reward to collect a pile of LP, then use some of it to supply yourself and (when the market is open) figure out which items are worth the most and sell them to players who would rather spend a bit of isk than grind out the LP.
Then the cycle repeats, you take their isk to restock your fits and go get more LP. Eventually you have so much isk you start to become one of the guys who buys their LP gear instead of grinding it. |

I saw that someone calculated LPs can be worth up to 500 isk each right now, if you buy the proto suits. That means for a win at the lowest level of standing you're getting around 175k isk worth of LP per match. At level 10 that's 325k isk, which is a fair bit more than most people earn in a pub match. That's every single person in the match earning that, not just the 1 or 2 guys at the top of the scoreboard. |

I do think the LP rewards could stand to be a little higher at every level. Don't want too much of a curve though, because that takes it straight back to guys with low standing having to use militia fits and the level 10 guys grinding them into the dirt with faction prototype stuff constantly. |
