Jumped into a FW match with a full squad of 6, and called in my dropship at the first chance I could get right when the match started so we could zerg the middle.
Dropship gets called down and I jump inside before any Blueberries take it; I was successful, and almost my entire squad came in as well besides one. Lifted a bit up and decided to head down and pick up the last guy. While I dropped down with very little speed, I apparently smashed an invisible spawning Blueberry while trying to get my last squadmate.
Right then and there, the game seems to lag out, and I am instantly banned from FW for a whole day, with a message informing me of a -450 standings loss.
I give up, I really do. First it's the two fatal errors, then it's the sonic-fast HAV's which I've seen outrun some LAVs (possibly nitrous injectors?), and now it's this punishment system which works all too quickly.
I'm starting to feel that I over-hyped myself with CCP's ability to make this patch completely successful, and I'm noticing more and more negative things about the game since it's change to 1.7 (let's not even get started on the damage and precision of the Rail Rifle, even in hip-fire).
Tl;Dr --> Friendly Fire in FW, and numerous other things in 1.7 that seem to have taken the fun out of Dust 514 that I enjoyed just days ago...

I was testing the Combat Rifles and Rail Rifles distance and efficiency on a CRU that was ours, and I got a notification to stop friendly fire.
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if I get kicked out of FW every day by either FF or "fatal error" (which only happened when 1.7 was deployed, and it was twice in the same day. I get tired of having to restart my PS3 after that message).

The autokick needs to go. Its an unfitting mechanic and has nothing to do in DUST.
Punishment through teammates? Legit. Punishment through the system? Bullshit, because the system never works.
This is a sandbox environment, autokick has to go. |

seems fine, just don't shoot your own ****.
as for the drop ship kill, that's a freak mistake not something that will happen often, if you excluded the possibility of drop ship friendly kill like that anyone could start dropship hopping to kill their own team.

thats kinda harsh, what if someone is hacking your CRU and then you shoot at the guy to stop him from hacking, and some bullets hit the CRU and you get kicked because you try to help out.
guess FF is pretty bad until CCP fixes it.

i've done this and no it takes alot of shots to get this warning.
you can shoot it a couple of time with stray shots, just don't throw grenades around it. |

Yesterday I got kicked from a match because my unmanned dropship I used to get to an objective exploded and killed a squad mate. I would have died too but it kicked me before I could even finish dying :/
I'm sorry my dropship exploded from being shot by a tank but there isn't much I can do about that. Transporting people and vehicles might be the most dangerous way to go in FW, if you or your vehicle dies with anyone nearby or in it you will get instantly kicked (and -450 standing). |

yep their are issues no doubt, paticularly with exploding vehicles, luckily not many vehicles explode anymore. |

...Let me first say, no matter if Patch 1.7 is ultimately judged a flop or a fan's-choice of the year, it is the one patch that has generated some of the FUNNIEST, MOST ENTERTAINING, LAUGH-AT-WORK-TILL-YOU-CRY-FROM-HOLDING-IN-THE-GIGGLES posts and feedback ever. That alone has made this patch worth the trip.
I read another thread where AV players are discussing some ideas to defeat HAVs, because they admit they spent almost every match last night huddled for shelter in buildings together--with hordes of zipping-fast HAVs circling them for 20 minutes!
I personally did three Skirmish matches where I was able to WALK (like a blind hobo) clear across the maps without a single sniper or red dot throwing something at me (which as we know is UNHEARD of in Dust 514---usually you take 5 unguarded steps alone in the open, and the bullets wiz). The one moment a red dot jumped in front me ready to proto me for my carelessness.... he immediately was smooshed by one of his own HAV's, doing 80 clicks per hour and running from who-knows-what, and he didn't even look back to see what he'd done and didn't even notice ME in the middle of the road un-attacked.
Umm, but yes, the Friendly Fire will need to be perfected in the coming weeks. The "punishment for damage to friendly equipment/vehicles" is not really needed. Often you'll have to fire rounds on the skin of friendly equipment to kill the red dot who is attacking your friend or trying to hack the equipment! I doesn't make sense for me to "hold my fire--I might nick my friend's LAV and get a demerit notice".
One of us should start a Feedback thread suggesting some sort of "amnesty" mechanism for damage done to friendly equipment: the Blue who did the damage gets no negative effect at all to his standing. friendly fire on a blue vehicle or installation damages shield, but has immensely slow damage on its armour, thus reducing FF equipment damage nearly completely (well, NEARLY). the Blue who lost his vehicle to friendly fire gets no loss in inventory, so he can immediately RDV it back onto the field.
The posts here are correct. Penalizing for damage done to blue equipment/rides is nearly as improper as rewarding points for destroying them would be.

This is a common problem for EVERYONE new to FW. What's happening is you haven't built up enough standings with the faction already to keep from being banned for "simple mistakes" yet. If you were a new player to the game, you would most likely not have enough SP to get into things like dropships and make the larger mistakes like you just did. Instead your mistakes would be scaled down to accidentally shooting friendly CRU's or players where it would take a longer time to accrue such negative numbers. Then later on when they finally did skill into a larger vehicle or dropship, they would already have a "buffer" of good loyalty standings to prevent being locked out like you were.
But being a much more experienced player you have to be EXTRA careful to behave safely until you have built up that buffer of standing with a new faction. This situation is an artificially created one due to the changes being implemented now in the game where so many players are already at higher skillpoint levels and thus are able to make much bigger mistakes with much bigger consequences without the buffer to back it up.
Just understand that you may have to play it a lot more cautiously with vehicles until you build up a "loyalty buffer" with your new factions. Then you can go back to the "good 'ol days" of rampant fun without regard for friendlies. |

I don't think there are many issues of people getting kicked from firing weapons.
It's a glitch with vehicle damage

Buffer or not, its stupid that something to trivial would lower your standings so much.
And, since your standing influences your payout, it hurts your wallet as well. FW is an ISK sink and the only true benefit is the specialist variant of weapons. CCP is absolutely dreadful at quality checking their updates to make sure that they work as intended. Otherwise we wouldnt have miitia mods that give HAVs 100% increase in speed.

I had to reinstall yesterday AFTER the patch, still had sound and com issues, got thrown into FW matches already underway most the time, dealt with teamkillers running around intentionally trying to sabotage the match (lucky u morons didn't kill my logi with a needle before u got wrecked and booted..scum)
