Anyone who has been part of the EVE community for an extended period of time might be familiar with some of the amazing tools developed by the community. Tools such as EVE Fitting Tool, Pyfa, EVE HQ, and one of the hundreds of other applications come from third party developers. One of the core things that powers those tools is what is commonly referred to as the EVE Static Data Export, or the SDE. Basically the SDE contains lots of information that doesn't change between patches. Information such as a ships hit points, the number of slots a ship has, how much damage a weapon does, and many other things.
One of the problems with DUST getting an SDE is that it stores data in a completely different way and unlike EVE we cannot just dump all of that data. We have to go through and select which bits should get dumped. Over the last few months I have been working away in my spare time to try and get something similar to the EVE SDE for DUST ready. This has meant trying to figure out the best format for it, put together an automated build setup so that it's always current, and trying to make sure everything you guys need is there.
Today I finally get the pleasure of announcing to you guys that we have something ready for release. Before we get into it though I want to be very clear. This SDE is being released with no support. Like with EVE, how the data works will be up to you guys to figure out. I also really want to point you all to an object that exists within New Eden: Magic Crystal Ball. This is especially important as since this data export has required whitelisting attributes, some may have been missed.
I will do my very best to try and update the DUST SDE where necessary, to answer questions here, and all those fun things. For now however, here is a link to the DUST SDE for Uprising 1.7: DUST SDE Download
As stated above DUST stores it's information in a much different format than EVE. This also means that the SDE is going to take a slightly different format than the EVE SDE. Here is a quick list of things to know about the DUST SDE:
- It is an SQLite3 DB file
- There are 3 tables in the DB. CatmaClasses, CatmaTypes, CatmaAttributes
- CatmaTypes contains all of the types with their typeID and typeName
- CatmaClasses contains every type with their typeID and className
- Types can possibly have 2 classes, hence why it's actually a seperate table and possibly has multiple entries per typeID
- CatmaAttributes contains types with typeID, catmaAttributeName, catmaValueInt, catmaValueReal, and catmaValueText
- Generally speaking only one of the three value columns in CatmaAttributes will actually have a value
- I am a game designer who attempted to do something crazy. This has been a big learning experience for me so please hang in there while I attempt to improve this SDE based on your feedback.
MAGIC CRYSTAL BALL! Please don't create threadnaughts about information you find within this SDE. I wouldn't want to have to take it away because of all the fear inducing rage it creates.
Now... where is my DUST fitting tool. :D

In support of this news, I'd like to remind everybody that we have a Dust Development IRC channel on Coldfront.net named #dust-dev (parallel to #eve-dev and #DUST514 channels). Here we have some various people currently engaged in 3rd party FanSites (Myself w/ dust.thang.dk, Heinz Doofenshertz from http://Dust514Stats.com etc), and we will be digging into the SDE and discussing our findings there over the next days and weeks.
In parallel, a new website has been created for documenting 3rd party development for EVE:Online, Dust514 and EVE:Valkyrie - http://www.NewEden-Dev.com/ So far it is just a mostly-empty Wiki (MediaWiki), but as we discover things from the Dust-SDE and collect details from the EVE-SDE and EVE-API. End-goal is to create a 1-stop-shop for all the information one would need for developing for anything in the EVE / New Eden universe.
Note: We are aware of the efforts already done for the EVE-SDE and EVE-API, and we have reached out to e.g. "Peter Powers" of http://3rdPartyEve.net who has confirmed that 3rd party Dust sites will be welcome there as well.

Bravo to FoxFour for doing this in your spare time!
However, at the same time it's a little disconcerting that it had to be done in a dev's spare time - given the obvious value of 3rd party tools to building and supporting MMO communities.

It's an SQLite3 file. I am sure if you search Google you can find something for browsing SQLite3 files. However if you don't know what an SQLite3 file is, it's probably best just to pretend it doesn't exist and move on.

Valentina Studio is free to use after registering and and the most professional feeling tool to query the data from that sqlite file. And there's also a bunch of open source tools too you can use.

Woo!
Thanks CCP FoxFour
Now, I'm hoping this is provided under the same basic rules as the Eve SDE, which means that I'm not going to get slapped for the conversions I've stuck here: https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/dump/dust/uprising-1.7-667061/
It's a lot less needed than conversions for the Eve SDE, as, iirc, PHP has a PDO driver for sqlite built in. However, some people (me, at least) like sticking to the same DB type as much as possible. And want something a little more feature packed.
I'd expect to have a basic browser up and running pretty quickly.
Not to sound ungrateful, because I am grateful, would it be possible to get the layout data for the nifty map that we have in Dust added to the SDE at some stage? (I keep asking for it. Sometimes I think I sound like a stuck record)

For years we've been promised a 3rd party developer agreement for Eve. As it stands developers are forbidden to monetize their applications. I assume we are in the same situation with Dust.
Developer accounts for the major phone OS manufacturers cost money. It's $99 per year typically. This adds up. Without being able to charge a small fee for my applications I'm forced to add advertisement into them to pay the bills. That disgusts me as the ads make any UI design ugly. I want to provide my users with an ad-free option.
When can we expect a 3rd party agreement that allows us to charge for our applications? |

Typically = On Apple's store.
The Google Play store is a one off $25 fee.
I wouldn't hold your breath, when it comes to being able to charge for these Apps. Not unless you want to talk directly to CCP to arrange a licensing agreement, to monetize their IP. |

They just lowered the individual account price. I have a company account though. I got it when they cost the same.

It's just one big data file with things such HP for dropsuits, damage for weapons, PG cost for modules etc. Pretty much anything you can think off. FoxFour hasn't added every possible thing there is in dust but there is a lot, and certainly every single ingame item (and some not yet in too ;) )

No, this isn't something the SDE's are done for - this would require support from CREST and authorization to it.
I really hope that we will see full CREST for both EVE and DUST soon, it's already a year or two late :(

I am currently aware of a few issues with the SDE. Mainly: * typeID 351320 is missing from it and referenced in vehicles. For now know it's a type for the passenger seat. * Slots on vehicles and dropsuits have a missing attribute known as visibility and this is missing. You will notice some vehicles have more slots in the SDE than they do on TQ. Thats because of this. * Icons for some of the new types in 1.7 are missing from the TQ image server. While not directly SDE related it does affect tools. Shall hopefully have a fix for this soon.
The missing type and attribute will be added in the next version of the SDE and I will try and get a new version generated for Friday or Monday.
Keep the amazing work up guys! You are doing wonderful things with this and I cannot wait to see more.

I've started updating my skill planner to use the SDE. I'm using Where(x => x.catmaAttributeName == "slotType" && x.catmaValueText == "SKL")) to find skill books. Is there a better way?

Keep the amazing work up guys! You are doing wonderful things with this and I cannot wait to see more. Ok FoxFour, this has been bugging me. What the heck is Catma? I work with Databases a lot and have never heard of it. Some internet searching turns up some Genome Microarray sequence DB (or something) yet despite looking for some time I can't find anything on any other DB engine with any reference to the term "Catma". So unless DUST's data is stored as a DNA sequence I am thoroughly confused... |

Eve devs use catma on the eve side while dust devs using almost the same database code call it dogma. Having the same source code allows information to pass from one system to the other allowing orbital strikes and other things like the combined in game market (SoonTM) and 3rd party tools like the kill mail readers and out of game fitting tools. SDE's allow 3rd party developers to have an "official" source for stats instead of guessing from in game experience. |

Dogma is the Eve DB of effects. all the attributes which affect game play are in there. in the eve SDE, you'll find it in the dgm* tables. 'An authoritative principle, belief, or statement of ideas or opinion, especially one considered to be absolutely true.'
Catma, well, the name is a joke. just one of those jokes that sticks.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see Batma in WoD. |

Like I said, I work with databases and had never heard of Catma. So when people first mentioned it I thought they were mistaken as DUST couldn't use a DNA sequencing array to hold their data. But when FoxFour's files had "Catma" in the name I was just confused.
Thanks for the information.

will be nice to have access to the values.
another thing i'm not sure how is working ... basePrice ... how can you get the final price from that?

So, in future iterations of the SDE, do existing items that get rebalanced keep their typeID or do they get a new one? I'm wondering if the information gets updated or new information is added to the DB. Gauging by the current ID count, I'm guessing we get new IDs and the current SDE only includes currently valid items (1.7) ?

Thank you, I looked on the Wiki and didn't find an update that's why I asked.
I noticed you have a rest api, that will be helpful because all i wanted to do was query all the suits and put them in a spreadsheet to review them. I'll use that api if it works. Thanks and great work on the site
