I'm sure its in your history books as well, but its unfair to just expect you to know the date of every big event from every country. The USA does not get special treatment with its major events.

I reported this thread, it is completely irrelevant to Dust, dead celebrities, patriotic mourning (of people who would have died of old age by now anyway), and other stuff like this does not belong in general section.

You are right, I failed to realize that the date "December 7, 1941" would be taught differently all over the world. I forgot how much disagreement and dispute historians have over that date. I mean, after all, that event kicked off a series of events which affected people living on at least 4 continents. I can see why would that wouldn't be included in their lessons. Given that the person who asked the question has already outed himself as an "american" and thus subject to the same "regional" education as myself, your strawman argument is a bit irrelevant.
