How about a bonus that negates that penalty for Minmatar assaults?
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

If you really like your side arms it's an alright suit.
STD is useless. ADV is slightly less useless. PRO is useful if you manage to not get spotted and hug cover.

It's slightly more tanky than a scout, slightly faster than other assault suits, it has a 1HP passive armor regen per second, and the skill for it gives you a sidearm clipsize bonus (at lvl 5 you will have 100 bullets in an SMG clip instead of 80).
That's about it for our "benefits", not that any of those is really a benefit in this low TTK environment except maybe the clip size buff.

Save your SP for now. As much as I want to say "it'll get better!" it probably won't for months. The side arm bonus for the assault is really sweet when not going against other proto suits unless you get the jump on them in CQC. Even then you're really pushing your luck because they can have almost twice your HP. You really have to rely on your extra movement speed to try to out dance them.
Every engagement with a Minmatar suit is risky.

Minmatar suits are so ****** right now, but that's a good thing because.. We adapt to our surroundings and get better. Once the suits get patched and we get more benefits we'll still have our field experience from back in the day. Amarrians will have good reason to start running away from us with their 4.3 sprint speed and +700 armor. |

I will post my thoughts here in the interest of getting this suit fixed because its not just the new extender changes, i truly feel that this suit needs to be looked at. Why? Because in my opinion there really isn't a single way you can fit this suit that the Caldari assault cannot cover equally well or better. What we essentially have now is a shield based suit with its shield stats equal to or worse than that of its armoured counterparts and that's completely ridiculous to me.
I understand that the Minmatar Assault should not be able to have equal shield stats to that of the Caldari, they are the primary shield based race and this should be reflected in the 2 suits stats but surely we can have better recharge rates and timers than the 2 armoured races? What is reason for us not having that? The speed? The sh!t house 1hp/s armour rep? If it is based off that then the suit is being punished too much for it in the shield department imo.
Given then that the Caldari is to be the primary shield tanker then what of our Minmatar assault pyjamas? It is my understanding that it is to be shield based, not quite as good as the caldari, but alot faster and it is....that is until we hit the prototype level and the extremely unforgiving slot layout rears its head. Both suits are going to need to run a CPU upgrade for any good prototype fit which leaves the Minnie with 1 slot and the Caldari with 2. As far as biotics the Minnie Can run a red or a green, the caldari could run 2 reds, 2 greens or a red and a green or a biotic and any other module of their choosing like a reg or decent rep or whatever.
So in this regard the Caldari suit can be faster with 2 reds, have more endurance with 2 greens or not be quite as fast but have way more endurance with a red and a green whilst having better tank, regen and recharge timers! What a complete crock of sh!t, this isn't even covering the fact the caldari suit can make WAY better use of armour in its fittings than than the Minmatar can or could double stack regs for insane recharge timers. The Caldari Suit imo fills any role the Minmatar could and is WAY more versatile and much more forgiving in its fitting capabilities.
Basically all we are left with is the clip bonus and 5.3 movement speed as our upside, i really don't think thats enough of a benefit over what the Caldari could achieve, not to mention that if we dont run a reg in our only low we will have a lower depleted time than the 2 armoured assaults and that isn't fair. I am not too sure what should be done to allow the Minnie assault to better fill its role im too tired to think hard atm, but a little better shield stats wouldn't go too far astray.

Back when I started (July), decent gun game and a bit of fancy footwork kept you alive in the Min Assault. Now? I'm a lost little puppy dog looking for protection from my green/blue buddies. The suit is best used for flanking, but at this point you can't flank anywhere near a hot zone as 1 extra red breaking off the main push towards you forces retreat or death.
I still try to stand and fight when protecting objectives, but 2-3 kills is about all you can get out of a hard push from reds before you are dropped. I do have my biotics at 5, which lets me put 2 enhanced plates on my ADV Min Assault while pretty much avoiding the movement penalty, and if there is an uplink/CRU close to a contested area this lets me keep up some kind of consistent pressure on a hot zone until friendlies arrive, at the cost of my KDR and wallet, but with the win being the most important stat (to me) I don't mind too much.
The best thing to do at the moment is to stick by a stronger assault player, kinda like the logi/heavy combo. 2 guns are always better than 1, and the Min assault can still do decent damage. I also run an ADV nanite injector, which lets me help keep a push going, even if I can't do it directly through combat.
Something I am looking into for post 1.7 is vehicle scanners. With intel assists being added, and hopefully a bit of a rework on vehicle scanning mechanics, I will most likely spec into vehicle scanners and run a sort of heavy scout role, sweeping up the perimeter of hot zones, picking my fights and where they take place. I may even skill into remote vehicle armor reppers and move towards a tank support role, scanning, repping, and engaging on foot any troublesome AVers for my Corp armor.
Every time I try to walk away, something makes me turn around and stay, and I can't tell you why

As it is the suit is too short on CPU/PG to even fit 5 complex extenders without usimg our whole 2 low slots for CPU &PG modules. Not that one should bother stacking Shields even thanks to the OP tactical scrambler riffle. Can't fulfill or intended"flanker" role thanks to OP scanners. And now they are adding a shield stacking penalty so yeah CCP obviously hates the minmatar assault with a passion. I've taken to running 2 enhanced plates in my lows with K17 nanohives to get by, however, it removes the while point of the suit in my opinion having to do so. It makes the suit pretty much another generic assault suit only not as good. |

So with the changes to the shield extenders the Minmatar Assault shield depleted recharge will be 10.817 so like another second longer (using 4 shield extenders).
