I almost feel dirty. Been armor tanking for so long with no little, that I felt qualified to do practically everything with nothing. But now with the introduction to of ferroscale and reactive and then the next buff from lower move penalties and now the shield nerf I feel instead of parity the opposite is going to ensue.
I didn't want this for you shield tankers! I hope you get a rep tool for shields that reps shields at 25+ a second and instantly kickstarts shield generation while also making the length of the rep line longer and the number of people that can be attached is set to 3! If they won't retract the shield nerf I'm arguing for it!!!

It actually somewhat nerfs the Amarr Assault since CCP built it as a hybrid tanker (aka brick tanker).
It especially hurts the Adv Amarr Assault - two highs and two lows. Now stacking shield mods has a recharge delay penalty, and the two lows either force you to go plate/plate with no repair and makes you slower, or plate/reps which lowers your eHP total.

The biggest message from every single patch is to spec into what you like because eventually, it'll probably have its day. I'm speaking as an armour tanking logibro, dedicated to healing your arse with a scrambler pistol to defend myself.
Not sure about dropships but I will spec into them again come the patch because screw the rules, screw the FOTM, screw the norm, I love flying, others love flying, and I will be damned if I spec into something else just because it makes you 'competitive'. Well, have fun being competitive. I will still be flying when you burn out.

I have my alt fully specced into armor tanking specifically because it was the underdog tank type when I spent the points. I was just biding my time.

like a fluxed shield extender, far more hp for more penalty.
or gauged shield extender, less hp and no penalty.

But I dont think the penalty will change much, since it only affects depleted delay. Remember that rail rifles has >90 m range and bonus damage to armor. Your ARs can go to hell!

I never skilled into Gallente despite always knowing what they were capable of. I skilled everything except that race for whatever reason. I regret it like I knew I would but my Caldari does just fine on the battlefield. Would I do better as a Gallente? I couldn't say, I don't anything about tanking other than with shields.
My Amarr is packed down with armor but the 3 damage mods on my Imperial is the focus of that fit. Nothing stands up to it, nothing... |

The new weapons will balance nothing, sure more people will use them..but that is not balance.. I as a Callogi i hate this nerf. I just wonder about the numbers.. Is it even noticeble? Is it 1 second per extender?
Anyone found anything bout that?

I'm a shield tanker.
Caldari all the way, except when forced to go elsewhere for my pretty Scout suits (seriously, please give me a Caldari Scout more soon and less SOONGäó thanks CCP). Regardless, I'm all about shields (and speed, obviously), so this is a direct nerf to many of my builds.
And I'm looking forward to it. Not 100% sure it's the right move, but it will be interesting to see how it changes things. |

Means that you need to learn how to tank with Shields, they're mostly for hit and run tactics and long range engagements, so shoot, run, flank, take cover and then repeat the cicle, if your shields are heavily damaged take cover, if you're outgunned or in a 1 vs many situation, fall back and attack from distance.
As long as you have at least 1 hp left in your shields, they will recharge faster while you're behind a cover or far away from the action, remember that the delay happens ONLY WHEN YOUR SHIELDS ARE DEPLETED.
