CCP Nullarbor wrote:Yeah it's pretty obvious we need team deploy and the CPM have been very vocal about this feature as well. It was originally planned to get done with the FW changes but had to get pushed for 2 reasons:
1. It's actually a lot of work, we need to re-architect a bunch of the squad system to support larger groupings. 2. Matchmaking is still having balance issues and team deploy will make this significantly worse. We need to fix matchmaking first.
I still can't say exactly when it will get done but know that we share the sentiment on how important it is. (Same goes for player market). For the time being, we hope the FW changes will liven things up a bit.
Thanks for your patience.
^^ O_O
They actually admitted there's a problem with matchmaking, and that they're working to fix it...wow. You've earned my respect CCP! |

Only allow 1 squad to deploy in to public contracts, allow a team of 16 to deploy in to factional contracts and PC matches.

Team-Deploy would be a big middle finger to whatever work they're trying to do to fix the weak match-making going on. Seriously...
Imagine if AE or OH or whoever were to constantly run in ENTIRE TEAMS. :I They're already beastly in single squads. Don't rush it, it's not needed right now if it's not going to help the game.
As for the player market? >_> That's a tough cookie to crack, imo. You gotta make sure it works well because if not it'll have issues that would require months to fix, months that could be used to further other things such as the EVE side connection or the racial suits or whatever. if done right AE would always be against another full team. this would mean the single lone guys would never have to face these teams. a full team might be better equipped to actually fight them
IF done right. The issue is that it'll either have a few bugs if rushed which allow for loners to face against teams and effectively get stomped.
But regardless of bugs or not, there will always be stompings going on due to not enough teams or whatever but it's just a matter of reducing the amount of stomps going on daily.

If you only allow team deploy in FW and PC then how would it mess with pub matches and matchmaking? Seems like a cop out to me. |

MAG had a team deploy system that worked with public matches. It was fine.
The fear of teams in pubs shouldn't be a factor that delays the development of this vital feature. If anything, it will cause more players to gravitate towards better corps, as well as force corps to join alliances and form coalitions. Team deploy doesn't mean it has to be restricted to being a corp deploy system. It should operate somewhat like squad finder in that it allows you to change settings so you can invite people from outside your corp as well. Of course, it would be a dream to consistently be able to deploy a corp-based team into battle. As a former MAG player, I can tell you that it's incredibly fun and great for clan/corp morale. |

Thanks for your patience. CCP Nullarbor, I apologize in advance if our corporation's team killing antics bring a swath of additional outcry for this team deploy mechanic. It's just that we're being approached with a lot of EVE side 'support' to help throw faction battles one way or another.

could always have a vote kick thing like some TF2 servers have. If someone is being a jerk and enough people agree they are a jerk vote to have them kicked and have it ban them from that match for 10 minutes. |

Thanks for your patience. A bit of advice. Team deploy needs to be scaled. If 16 deploy into FW, you can't put them against all randoms. I'd suggest a team of NO LESS than 10. If those 10 are lucky, they'll get 1 or 2 squads along with them.
And ONLY FOR FW / PC. Never, EVER listen to those that want this for public matches. Your game will die very, very fast if you do that.
Teamwork for thee, but no teamwork for me, such is the motto of the anti vehicle infantry.

Thanks for your patience. What is stopping the player market?
A LOT!
1. It will need to be built in a way that will work seamlessly with the Eve Online player market which is what is going to happen later on. 2. Industry will likely need to get involved with Dust players providing the materials via districts control while Eve Online players handle the production. 3. The massive disparity of the value of ISK in Dust and the value of ISK in Eve need to be balanced over time. This will require a heavy tax for any ISK transfers coming from Eve to Dust. The tax will taper off as the disparity drops and both economies are at an equilibrium.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

I think it's the fact the market system is regional and mercs can't travel to visit different markets.

I completely forgot about that. The current team setup is up to 16 players but that becomes a major problem when trying to get 3 full squads into the match. Under the current system, at least 2 players will end up not joining the rest of their squad in a FW match.

I understand your point, but you don't want the system to be so rigid that your team doesn't deploy until it matches up with another team. Depending on player counts, you might end up with a situation where a team never deploys because there's no other team in waiting. That would incredibly lame.
Besides, the best protection for individual players is to gain strength in numbers. Why do we want to perpetuate a system that doesn't encourage players to join corps and forge friendships? Is it wise for noobs to travel alone when playing PvP on Eve? Why, then, should we make it easy for mercs to run solo or in small numbers on Dust 514? |
