CCP Nullarbor wrote:Yeah it's pretty obvious we need team deploy and the CPM have been very vocal about this feature as well. It was originally planned to get done with the FW changes but had to get pushed for 2 reasons:
1. It's actually a lot of work, we need to re-architect a bunch of the squad system to support larger groupings. 2. Matchmaking is still having balance issues and team deploy will make this significantly worse. We need to fix matchmaking first.
I still can't say exactly when it will get done but know that we share the sentiment on how important it is. (Same goes for player market). For the time being, we hope the FW changes will liven things up a bit.
Thanks for your patience.
I think you all have underestimated the amount of goodwill this feature would have fostered had it been here sooner. For some of us, it is the one feature we want more than anything and we would have overlooked every single wart this game has had it been given to us a long time ago. Going forward, please make this a top priority. Seriously. Please. |

MAG had a team deploy system that worked with public matches. It was fine.
The fear of teams in pubs shouldn't be a factor that delays the development of this vital feature. If anything, it will cause more players to gravitate towards better corps, as well as force corps to join alliances and form coalitions. Team deploy doesn't mean it has to be restricted to being a corp deploy system. It should operate somewhat like squad finder in that it allows you to change settings so you can invite people from outside your corp as well. Of course, it would be a dream to consistently be able to deploy a corp-based team into battle. As a former MAG player, I can tell you that it's incredibly fun and great for clan/corp morale. |

I understand your point, but you don't want the system to be so rigid that your team doesn't deploy until it matches up with another team. Depending on player counts, you might end up with a situation where a team never deploys because there's no other team in waiting. That would incredibly lame.
Besides, the best protection for individual players is to gain strength in numbers. Why do we want to perpetuate a system that doesn't encourage players to join corps and forge friendships? Is it wise for noobs to travel alone when playing PvP on Eve? Why, then, should we make it easy for mercs to run solo or in small numbers on Dust 514? |
