A lot can happen in this game, and you probably wont even notice the violence around you, or the amount that you may be causing, The our characters just fall lifelessly to the ground can actually be quite uncomfortable to witness if you actually take the time to observe it happen.
Also, can you imagine how violent this game would be if all the weapons, suits, and other peaces of equipment were real? The game shows no actual violence in was where people are being blown apart, burned to bit by plasma, or being vaporized by laser weaponry.
Just think about it.

I really enjoy watching people die to my gunners. Small missile turrets usually send their limp bodies flying into walls. Its really entertaining when they jump and a flung high into the air only to smack into a wall or hit a railing and cartwheel into the ground. Grousome sure, but very entertaining. |

I shot a man today in the head with a sniper rifle. His head snapped back, his knees unlocked. He would have fallen backward had there not been an obstacle behind him.
He fell forward off the pipes. He looked like a diver who had neglected to use his arms to break the surface tension of the water. His head impacted grotesquely against the hill, his body jerking awkwardly upwards as if he were still alive.
I looked through the scope, he was still bleeding out. I decided to secure his soul, I fired another shot, it hit him in the neck. His body turned grey, unable to be revived by anything at all. He lay there, forgotten to the world.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

With explosives rail tech and projectiles, the carnage would be high, but with laser and plasma tech there would be very little carnage, as these types of techs cauterise wounds.

It happened to me a couple days ago for the first time.
Generally, I don't pay any attention to people dying and sometimes it's even hilarious (Remote Explosives, anyone?) or even extremely satisfying, when you gun down the bastard jumping out of his LLAV in full proto to kill some isolated target (anyone doing this must be a very sad person).
But... this guy...
He was obviously a newbie, he was caught in a gunfire, he panicked and managed to run behind a metal crate... I found him right there, crouched, immobile, ADS'ing his assault rifle in a random direction, probably thinking that enemies were going to come from there.
As soon as I saw him, I automatically released my charged shot from my CWR-04 into his suit, burning him alive. It was an instinctive reaction. But after that, the whole scene replayed in my mind and I ended up watching his body combusting on the ground. I know it's a game, but it felt horrible. I'm still thinking about it and I still feel bad about it.

I really enjoy watching my clone victims die, when I have the time to spare. RE deaths are particularly entertaining when bodies go flying in random directions. I do have time during some of my less frantic hunts to watch my victims die.... it's interesting watching how they slump, fall etc.... or slide down a hill after I kill a sniper.
I've also noted that on a few occasions I've died pretty horrifically. Sometimes I even see my own feet on the bleedout screen. And one time I swear I flew into the air as high as some of the highest towers after a tanker blew my scout to kingdom come with a missile turret. I was literally in the air for like 10 seconds.... I couldn't believe it.
It was worth the 10k ISK I spent for that suit just to give that tanker something to watch!

I worry more about the more philosophical ramifications raised by the idea of immortal clones.
Are we just the sum of our experiences? something that can just be copied and pasted into a new life? Would we still be the same person?
Would we ever truly be free? As my hero Charlie Chaplin said in probably the greatest speech uttered by human kind:
"The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish."
...Then I RE a Heavy and they shoot 20ft into the air, flipping like a Catherine wheel and I laugh my a** off

Dude, I had this same thought a while back ago.
There was to militia dude walking in a straight line, shooting at me. So I turn around and begin shooting him. I don't know why I remember this moment so much, but the way I killed him felt so brutal. Scr (standard, no damage mods at the time) shots were landing all over his body. I was working it from his thighs, riding the recoil up to his chest. I could see the bullets impacting, creating splashes of blue, then sparks of yellow.
The way he fell was just odd to me. Seeing him shooting while walking towards me, seeing the damage I was causing, and then watching his body go limp, carried slightly by the momentum of his movement. He just stopped shooting and stopped moving. The suddenness of going from being alive and fighting, to dead and lifeless just kind of caught me off guard.
I think the reason why I remember this moment is because, for some reason, I was focusing completely on the enemy and ignoring my surroundings/enemy health bar. |

I never thought I'll see this. A red wanted to revive his friend. I held my trigger for a second, but I didn't want someone else to get to him before me.. In the middle of the revive animation I shot him dead with my smg. I watched as his body fell to his knees and was kneeling like that for a good 3 seconds! As if he was saying how sorry he was for failing to revive him and getting to cover together.. His mate probably saying "It's ok, you did your best"
The kneeling red then flopped forward on top of his mate. They both then disintegrated together. That looked sick and epic. A little tear? |

This one time I was defending the A null cannon on Line Harvest, when I noticed a heavy with an HMG rolling in. Instead of engaging him, I decided to hide on a roof and watch as he calmly strolled on to the console where I had set down my remote explosives. As soon as he began hacking I pressed a button, and he was instantly sent flying into the sun.
Several seconds later the body landed in front of another enemy, probably a rookie judging by his behavior since he began running into the other direction. I chased him into a corner, and for whatever reason he didn't try shooting me. Maybe he ran out of ammo, maybe he was trying to spare his life by not being hostile, I'll never know. Anyway, as I was aiming my shotgun at him, he seemed to look directly at me, as if pleading for mercy.
For a while I thought of not shooting him, until I accidentally pulled the trigger and killed the poor man. His head was all but gone, and his torso was full of holes filled with burning hot plasma, and his body still twitched and spasmed about as it collapsed on the ground.
I don't know if I should feel bad or laugh my ass off.

Weird thing a corpse did. He got shot down by a cru, his body bent backward, knees on the ground. His body then looked like it was being resurrected for the way he came back. Very abnormal, but his torso was now upright with his knees still on the ground and his head leaning on the cru! Scary as hell to see. I then shot him in the head with a SR. I did it because it was an easy shot.
The game ended right after, I left with the image of this corpse leaning on a cru, I watched him turn colorless with my SR. |
