Are you going to stick with Swarm Launchers after 1.7's flaylock-style nerf?
Who s already has FGs as well, and won't be affected by 1.7 as much?
And how many of you just realized something about 1.7 and are grinning and picking your teeth with a toothpick?

I'll still use them, AV Nades also. The vehicle killing will change, but the weapons to do it with will not. Most of the time when I tank hunt it's not from a mountain top, it's from an LAV to get up close and personal, alpha with AV and finishing off with swarms. I know with hit detection being added to turrets I won't be able to dodge them as well, but I can also read stats that tell me there will be windows of opportunity to attack.
Swarms and AV Nades may be getting a perceived nerf, but it is in line with the learning curve tank drivers will go through learning their new advantages and disadvantages. Remember, the days of hardener cycling while repping will be gone for them with the loss of their slots. |

See the swarm nerf is an interesting one. As a vehicle guy I obviously dread these things because they're so obscenely strong.
I feel the damage nerf is reasonable, the damage output for swarms is insanely high when compared to the amount of damage a vehicle can tank.
The range nerf however is a bit excessive, however it is a little unclear on exactly what it means. To my understanding the "Lock-On Range" has been reduced from 400m to 175m, this much is clear. However what is unclear is if the missile travel distance is 175m or if its actually longer.
If you can only LOCK within 175m but the missiles FLY further than 175m, this leads to an interesting mechanic. Due to the recent decrease in delay between successive locks with a swarm launcher, it is possible to get an entire magazine full of missiles in the air before the first salvo hits. WIth this is mind, it may be possible to Lock a vehicle within the 175m Lock Range, and fire off 2-3 salvos by the time the first one hits.
At this point the vehicle will begin to move and likely get out of the 175m lock range, HOWEVER if the missiles are capable of flying beyond that limit, they'll most likely still hit the vehicle. If this is the case, then the range nerf really isn't that awful. You'll still have to get fairly close in order to lock, but once you do it's almost guaranteed that all of the salvo will connect.

I've never got three salvos off before the first hit at any distance on a tank. Two if the distance is great, but most of the time I only fire one at a distance as a faint to get you to activate your module. Then I reload and hop in my LAV to get close to you in the hopes that I reach you during cool down.
I'm getting better at guessing which modules you are running based on your HP. If you are maddy with over 6k I know you are not running hardeners and will be an easy kill. If you are a maddy with around 4k I hunt you differently. |

Good! That's how AV guys should think. I hunt tanks with standard AV because I know how to analyze their fit based off their visible stats, mainly because I've done countless fits and understand each's weakness.
I don't mind being killed by AV, I just want them to have as hard of a time doing it as I do trying to stay alive. As it is I find it much easier to kill HAVs than I do piloting them.

I just noticed your last question. Yes with this change, hopefully there is a piece of gear I'm highly skilled in that will make a big comeback. |

I use them rarely, but I love my swarms and gonna stick with them .
Must be be doing something wrong, because I have a hard time currently killing tanks and drop ships on my own, other than the basic versions that is. Usually shield or armor mods kick in before my final volley hits. Combine that with the 4 Ds (Dodge, Duck, Dive and Dodge) of good pilots, and taking them out solo is pretty difficult. Which is as it should be, in my opinion.
Haven't looked at the new change yet. But doubt I'll spec into another weapon just to take out tanks. The audio and visual of swarms are just to much fun.

Take this advice coming from a tanker. The only way a vehicle can regenerate its HP quickly is with active modules, these modules have a duration and then a cooldown before they can be used again. Use the cooldown time to your advantage.

I have swarm launchers, but not maxed out yet - up to proficiency 4 on them, I still need to up the ammo count and reduce the reload time a little bit.... but seeing as it's the only AV I have (don't have forge gun), then yeah I'll probably still use it afterwards... I use the 'Dren" launcher a lot, but sometimes take out my proto launcher.... |

Heck yes I am! I usually Swarm tanks from about 3m away, and sometimes kill myself with the splash damage. 3 AV nades plus couple Swarms kills anything.
I've even jumped on top on enemy tanks and rode around the map for a few minutes and when the game threatens to kick me for AFK-ing I pull out my swarm and blast the son of b*tch into the ground!
You bring your HAV out on my field, it's probably not getting off in one piece unless you can recall it. And sometimes, I'll even pay for the HAVs I destroyed just to run it in... (except you legend345, I honestly did feel bad about doing that to you today)
But seriously, can't you people see through CCP's garbage? All this revamp to vehicles in the game is just to make up and cover up for the vast number of mechanical issues vehicles have.
You're STILL going to get blown up by invisible swarms You're STILL going to have lousy hit detection(hence why blasters will now have splash damage) You're STILL going to have rendering problems where enemies vanish off the map
Vehicles aren't getting fixed, the same way shotguns didn't truly get fixed. |

You're 100% right. When the mechanical issues of vehicles actually work, their is no stopping them. |

What? You can get over 6k armor and still have two hardeners, and a heavy repper. Much to learn, you have, young grasshopper. |
