I apologize. I am not really into debating and explaining physics. Gravity is gravity. <- notice the period. The only thing atmosphere introduces is drag. This is, also, when we are talking falls over a large distance.
To be plain, and also bring this conversation back to New Eden, I am talking about jumping 3M and losing a third of my shield. It's not an uncontrolled fall. It is a specific and intentional mechanical action. I shouldn't take damage at all from it.
As an aside, I did a quick search and think this might be enlightening.

GÖª Most scouts DO flank,since rushing will 9 out of 10 times result in an EZ kill for the Red Dot. GÖª The Scout is DESIGNED to be a SCOUTING unit, but we cant scout with 16mts radar range, supposed to be a sniper, But Gal Logis Out preform with similar db and a LOT MORE HP,plus nanohives uplinks etc.... So we use it as Fast Close Quarters Specialists, taht BELIVE IT OR NOT,is a very common role for FAST units in Most FPS games. GÖª If we are designed to hack stuff why dont we have a Hacking bonus? GÖª Telling Mollerz : '' You just gotta learn your role better, really...'' is like telling me to learn how to use a SCR rifle.
Please dont comment again random cr*p unless you show me proof you have at least 1 Proto Scout suit and weapon.

We do accelerate and then stop accelerating when we fall in game, I think it has to do with when we go into a spread eagle position so we can use inertial dampeners, then or slightly before then we reach a maximum fall speed. But mainly I was joking, the idea being that maybe heavies are so fat that drag makes them only hit as hard as scout suit. Interesting link, I have read similiar stuff before.
Removing fall damage would be interesting, but then we should get rid of the dampeners or repurpose them as glider type ability. If fall damage really happens after falling only 3 meters (roughly nine feet for us Americans) maybe something should be balanced, because falling nine feet would probably hurt but do no permanent damage if you land on your feet. I would want tests first though to be sure, and the game has other problems that need dealing with. I really think that scouts fall damage is almost not on the map with regards to their problems. |

It's funny, they said this was going to be a vehicle pass, yet they manage to include a couple infantry nerfs to make us even weaker.
