Dont like dying to proto gear camp the mcc or just quit the game. game is dead anyways...
You cant blame the players, blame ccp and their matchmaking. Its not the one person running proto gear thats ruining the exp for new comers its the 6 man proto squads thats doing it.
It's not the "proto" part of the 6 man squads doing it, it's the fact that 6/12 man squads are being pitted against random pubbies. Which is also how the game is intended to work. Cooperative play should beat out non-cooperative play.
So end of story is that everything in regards to using higher skilled gear and coordinating squads is functioning as intended. The only two "broken" things are:
1) Not enough players (Start recruiting you lazy SOB's!)
and
2) Matchmaking not working (Possibly because CCP devs are dumb or possibly because not enough players.)

i have proto. I can afford to rock proto. Took me 1 month to save SP for it, thanks to events. I rarely use it, just when i'm fighting proto squads, and even then, it will take me a while to rage enough to pull out my bumblebee suit. I just dont see the need to OH MY GOD I HAVE PROTOI HAVE TO WEAR THE BEST GEAR I CAN POSSIBLY FIELD AT ALL TIMES TO FOREVER FIGHT PLAYERS WEAKER THAN ME! OTHERWISE BAD KD BAD WP PEOPLE THINK LESS OF ME NO I NEED PROTO ROCK PROTO LOVE PROTO
But if thats how you roll, more power to you. There's few things less gratifying than killing some proto (especially neo proto) on a noob kill streak than I slaughter him the rest of the match.

I love playing Dust, great game... But when my sentinel suit is getting mowed down by some jerk off with a Duvolle Rifle... It's really annoying. Obviously CCP needs some way of funding this game, but giving players the option to spend money to become the best, not right. Very ****** system, this is why Dust has no chance of ranking up there with the real FPS games.
CCP, you are amazing at what you do with Eve... But when it comes to Dust and some of the features you put in... You failed. Good try, but you failed.
How is it pay to win? The SP were earned for free, the ISK to buy the gear was earned in game for free... How is that pay to win? Get your complaints straightened out!
On the other hand I agree that there needs to be something for new players to "cut their teeth on" in order to keep them interested in playing the game and thus re-bolster the numbers of players available for matches and the match-making system. Unfortunately most solutions for this would mean major changes or additions to the game to implement and won't be a quick fix.
The only "quick fix" I can think of at the moment is to create tiers of public matches. This would be much like how CCP limits the types of ships allowed into mission sights in PvE in EVE. Smaller sights only allow smaller ships etc. So the question is can we make public matches where there are like 3 tiers... Tier 1 - Only free and basic level gear allowed. Tier 2 - Only free, basic, and advanced gear allowed. Tier 3 - All gear allowed (like it is now). Would this system work?
From a technical standpoint, yes it could be coded and implemented relatively easily. But would it work? NO. Why? Because of players. With the low quantity of players in the game now, you would be dividing the already low pool of people playing into 3 divisions. Making matchmaking even more stupid and silly. Tier 3 matches would never happen but once or twice a day and maybe only because the top alliances would arrange matches on purpose there. While Tier 1 would allow newbs to get used to the game, the majority would settle into tier 2 for "fun matches" and use tier 1 to "farm ISK" from newbs.
So end result is that players will break the system no matter what. 8(

maybe if it were based on suit restrictions. So proto suits are unavailble from the supply depot on tiers 1 & 2 but available at tier 3.

WHAT THE ****.
It's almost like, they earned that **** after playing dust for months and even years, and have earned the isk to boot so that they can play with it. But of course that is lies, they are all pay-to-win faggots. Why are people using proto gear in pub matches??? IS PC not good enough? There is nothing wrong with PC atm, it's pretty much perfect, so you might as well save all your proto gear for that.
Come on people, it's ruining the game experience for new people! Stop trying to play to enjoy yourself and play to satisfy CCP's brilliant game design in which completely new players can be pitted against veterans by not wearing proto gear! It's not CCP's fault, it's YOUR fault. All you people wearing gear that you earned and paid for yourself. It's YOUR fault more people don't play this game. FOR SHAME ON ANYONE NOT USING MILITIA GEAR.
P.S You're all ******* idiots.
On the other hand. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. sportsmanship and all that jazz. |

As has been pointed out again and again, this is the EVE universe where things are VERY cut-throat and competitive both in and out of game. There is no such thing as "wimpy" E-Honor. There is only winning or loosing.

Proto Gear is the mask in front of the actual thing that dominates Pubs...And that would be teamwork.
A.E., Teamplayers, RND, Imperfect Bastards, Foxhound Corporation... Corps with various competitive edges and different rankings can all stomp pubs JUST because they have team work and your team doesn't. I've seen it happen over and over and over and over and over and over and it's been a long time since I was able to say: "It's because they're wearing proto."
It's usually my team not collaborating on an effort to win.

Squad stomps aren't fun. At least takeaway the scanners so I can shot someone in the back and dink there eHP down a quarter before running out of my clip and then having to duck and cover with aimed bullets that go around corners. :)
IMDHO At least get the squads evenly distributed. Seeing 3 high end squads on one side vs me 11 others and four doing AV squats (what is it with that, is there a favourite macro out there that selects Anti Armour and goes triangle, triangle, triangle... Anyhow getting stomped no worries. Getting stomped and constant getting scanned *yawn* and/or scanned prevented gets a tad repeative.
Now one of the problems for the matchmaking is that if there is only one squad that will form a backbone for the rest of the team. Not only that if a quarter of players are tingling their triangles it means one team will have a squad, 8 randoms and 2 squatters vs 12 randoms and 4 squatters. As a random you will spend more time vs a squad then with one.
Scotty can't fix that. It could stop dropping a squad on the winning side, it could stop 3 vs 0 squad match ups. It could also stop erroring out and make me a cup of tea. However I don't think it can fix the odds of facing more squads if you are a random and less squads if you are in one.
It could do something about the squatters like not rewarding any passive experience if no WP are earned. try using dampeners and creating a fit so u don't get scanned 24/7 I agree scanners need a swift beating from the nerf hammer, but even as it is its not hard to roll around undetected.. and I just actually read the comments here... no wonder this game is on crutches after a back alley stabbing incident hard for a game to thrive with such a small, self-centered community that QQs over the few things that actually make this game fun...
1) I stated I like to at least get to shoot even if I know I'm going to only remove a portion of the eHP. So I'm happy to play and lose. My corp name sums up accurately my survival expectations. 2) "scanned *yawn* and/or scanned prevented gets a tad repeative." And /or scanned prevented. You need to work on your reading comprehension. Also maybe game balance comprehension too, run a basic Alt for a month run your own solo corp and see how easy it is for he newberries. I'm sure your KDR will be just the same as your main. Alternate every once and awhile and you will see how much you need to adapt to survive. I suggest you post a thread and map out its progress for the month that is if you can actually walk the line yourself. Go lead by example or GTFO :)
tl;dr I die, I'm fine with it. I run dampers, just bored with the constant scan prevented spam. |
