Yes, I want to ride on an EVE ship, and look out a window!
Maybe there's something I can do on the ship? Re-modulate the phase gigawatt generator or something... giving +1% to an EVE pilots thrusters or some such.
Or just be ship security. "Security to the bridge!"
Or perhaps one day there could be boarding parties. Dust players can board eve ships and boot the capsuleers out!
But like I said, I'd be happy just to look out a window.

I want to BE the new weapon for eve players, a way for them to take an opponent's ship without destroying it(better profits I'm assuming). then they have something to do that involves dust, and an incentive to do so.
I imagine it goes something like this:
Player A puts out a contract at a station, dust corp A bids on it(these are corporate contracts, to ensure unit cohesion and such) Player negotiates their terms(payment mostly))
Player can then deploy the dust troops as a boarding party(loaded using a missile launcher and a clone pod or some such maybe? has to be something specific to this kind of run) to an enemy ship after dealing with the enemy ship's shields(ships they have kill rights on) with either an AI crew, or they could put out a contract for immediate defense(this might require a specialized module of some sort, wormhole's and such to pull the troops in)
Each class of ship has different objectives, but they all start the same: disabling the self destruct so the enemy player cannot detonate the ship and abscond, them attempting to after it has been will notify that the self destruct is non functioning, but they can still eject.
after that, a series of secondary objectives(with a noticeable effect in eve) such as disabling weapon systems, engines, and culminates with locating and ejecting the enemy capsuleers pod, forcing them out of the ship and readying it to be scooped by Player A or a friendly for dis-assembly, resale, or reuse.
That provides a tangible benefit for EVE players, and engaging content for dust players.
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

This won't work for a variety of reasons. EVE players would do everything in their power to prevent this including trying everything they can to make DUST fail (making characters to ruin NPE, scare off noobs in voice chat etc.). Imagine having a pimped out armor tanked boat that you spent months saving ISK to acquire. Your shields melt quickly (as expected) and now your tank is holding strong as you're at the mercy of a team full of random 12-year-old blueberries who don't have a clue what they're doing to to save your ship. EVE players would hate this.
Also modeling these ships would take an absurd amount of time. As mentioned above, a destroyer is the size of an aircraft carrier, and they get a HELL of a lot bigger from there. It would take the team decades to model the interior of the existing ships. Are the ships that don't have interiors yet going to be immune to boarding parties? The only way this would be practical would be to limit this to smaller/cheaper ships, and those melt in seconds in a firefight that it's not worth the effort to try to board them.
I posted a way boarding parties could be used in PvE sites that makes a lot more sense.

I posted a way boarding parties could be used in PvE sites that makes a lot more sense. I'd think the only important room to fight over would be the one that houses the capsuleer pod. Take the objectives, forcefully eject the pod, ship looses all functionality (namely life support), and everyone onboard dies (we're immortal, who gives a derp?), leaving the shell of a ship in space ready to be boarded by a new capsuleer.

hmm, the how's about 50% of the total HP of the ship must be depleted(shield+armor+hull)? before boarding parties can be used. they could even be used for security (if someone attempts to use a boarding party on you, and you have a contract, it pops up an alert to the designated members of the contracted corp(directors and such, not every tom **** and harry) to assemble teams for immediate deployment)
not really, you don't have to have a specific model for each ship, just a kind of node system with certain rooms and randomize them, like most adventure games do these days. larger ship class = more rooms. pass it off as the ship's modular nature leads to non-standard room design to accommodate whatever mods the capsuleer uses.
and these are corporate contracts on both sides, so it won't be randoms, it will be corp v corp, and since EVE players stand to lose the most(their ship) they will want to hire the best, there will be groups of dusters who make a name for themselves by taking large numbers of ships, or defending them.
but, feel free to post a link to your idea while you're spending so much energy trying to tear mine down.

Meh you are thinking to small.
Make it the Space stations.
You fight for the rights to get a slice of the mineral taxes. Those minerals then go into manufacturing your BPOs.
No direct trade but you want a popular station that generates lots of material. Then reputation, race and security rating come into play. |

We wouldn't be fighting in the crew quarters, those would probably be locked down with the crew taking shelter inside because there are what they see as monsters(us) fighting outside. We would be fighting by the core, the storage areas, and the bridge. Overall, fighting in a cruiser would probably be similar to fighting in a large socket.

And I can already tell, they'd be all kinds of pissy about losing their ships(it's kind of like 50% of the game to have a fancy ship) but how would you do real integration? I want to feel an effect on the EVE side, not just a change in the planetary color coding system.

I think you would experience hate and rage on a level rarely seen in video game forums. As far as how I would integrate the games, I think PC/FW 2.0 + P2P market is a good first step. I also think the cooperative PvE suggestion I linked would work well and be a hell-of-a-lot of fun if CCP could pull it off someday, the mechanics of which could also be used in taking down enemy stations (which most people seem to agree would be a good place to integrate the games).
