Guess who's back!
Fixing the market means more than just fixing the pricing of items, it also means fixing the gear in the market. If you fix the market, then Dust fixes itself in many ways. Let's start however with pricing.
STEP 1: the pricing
If anything, the price of high tier gear needs to go UP. It needs to be tripled, perhaps quadrupled, in order to reduce the number of people who run it in regular matches. Proto gear is supposed to be top of the line **** that you use when you are called on to put in your best performance possible in dire situations. At the moment, PC is the only place where you can actually loose anything if you loose a match, and PC should be the only time you can afford to run proto. An adv suit should cost about as much as a current proto suit does fully decked out (~150-250 grand per suit), and a fully loaded basic suit should cost just under what an average adv suit does (~40-80 grand per suit). This would put a larger emphasis on people running lower end gear to grind in. There will always be those people who HAVE to run their best gear, but that doesn't mean DUST should let that be financially viable to do unless you are good enough to keep from getting grenaded to oblivion when people see you running them.
This will also make it far more profitable to run against proto squads. If the other team is running all proto gear but your team is able to kill some of them, a larger payout for being on a poor team against proto pub stompers would make that sting a bit less. "I may have went 8/9, but that's 8 700,000 ISK suits added to our team's payout at the end of the match! " This kind of thing may inspire newer players to push out of the redline harder or at least fight back from the redline. Even though you are going to loose, if you can still try to punish those who're running far superior gear and increase your wallet greatly in the process, the idea of hiding in the redline until the match is over is less appealing.
Of course proto pub-stompers will cry that it is unfair that the loosing team is getting paid better than the winning team in these cases. Well.... that's because the loosing team is killing far better equipment than the winning team is, so if you want the loosing team to make LESS than you, don't die in good gear. Simple right? You want to make more ISK than the team you are rolling it top tier gear? Don't run it, don't die, or HTFU and deal with it because you are giving them that money by running what you are. (this may also help a little with player turnover rate by helping people who keep trying despite being pub stomped to afford to restock)
Of course, if you end up in a proto v proto match, that **** could get reeeeeeeeealy expensive. But also have a reeeeeeeeeeeeeealy interesting payout.
Last bit of this step, make the specialized suits cost more than the basic frames. It's ridiculous for a basic frame suit to cost more than a suit that has far better tech built into it.
STEP 2: the gear
In addition to creating a much larger price gap in gear, there needs to be a larger gap in stats of the gear. Each suit needs better bonuses from the skills you increase to unlock them. Start by adding bonuses for the basic frame suits. This will give a reason for unlocking basic frame suits. Then add 1 additional ability to the ones already unlocked for the specialization tiers.
Suggestions for basic frame suit bonuses:
An additional 10% passive increase to Caldari shield capacity and a 5% bonus to stamina at lvl 5 (calculated AFTER modules are put on, thus giving caldari incentive to use all their high slots for shield extenders instead of swapping for DMG mods).
An additional 20% to passive reduction to shield recharge & delay depleted recharge delay and a 10% bonus to shield recharge rate for Minmatar medium suits at lvl 5 (calculated AFTER modules).
An additional 5% passive armor increase and a 15% bonus to stamina recovery rate for Gallente medium suits at lvl 5 (calc. after mods, only 5% since armor gives far more per module than shield).
A 10% increase to PG/CPU and a 5% increase to movement speed for Amarr medium suits at lvl 5 (calc. after mods).
A 5% overall passive HP increase and a 10% clip size increase for all heavy weapons for the Amarr heavy suits (calc. after mods)
An additional 15% bonus to stealth and passive scanning attributes and a 5% PG/CPU cost reduction for stealth and scanning modules for Gallente light suits
A 10% reduction to the PG/CPU costs of all speed/stamina modules and a 5% increase to both shield recharge delay and capacity for Minmatar light suits. (calc. after modules)
These bonuses would effect all suits from Militia through proto, however the impact they would have would be far greater on proto tiered suits. The skills that effect PG/CPU will have a larger impact on suits with more PG/CPU, and the skills that have greater effect based on the modules equipped will do better on suits where more/better modules can be fitted.
This system would draw greater divides between the abilities of each suit and make each suit more specialized. Caldari would be phenomenal shields tanks, Gallente would be astonishing armor tanks, Amarr would have the PG/CPU to dual tank amazingly well, the Minmatar would be the master of guerrilla warfare, the Amarr heavy would be even tankier and have to reload less often (it's biggest weakness apart from it's massive hitbox), the Gallente light would be the master at spec ops, and the minmatar light would gain the ability to actually fit necessary modules to truly speed tank and be the ultimate hit-and-run fighter.
Lastly, matchmaking & TTK overall needs to be fixed, TTK especially. Now for those who read all the way through, another TFS clip for you |

One, this doesn't affect everyone that currently does it by the use of the funds from the broken PC system.
Two, there are already enough differences between most gear levels. Plasma Cannon and Laser Rifle are two of the few exceptions.

/thread OMG, UR SO SMART BRO
One, PC's ISK income is in no way broken. However the ability to farm ISK off of owned districts is. And, in my second sentence I said it fixes it in many ways. No one claimed this would solve the underlying issues of ISK inequality smartass.
Two, the differences in gear levels were directed entirely at dropsuits, which you would know if you had read the post.

Hmm, so you want it to be that proto gear can only be run by the megacorps? And then make adv gear too expensive to be used by regular people?
Yes because I'm sure that will fix Proto stomping!

Or are you an open beta person that thinks they know this game? 80% of the players here are broke because 20% are able to roll them with maxed out fits and make them unable to afford their fits needed to stand up to people in the few matches where matchmaking DOES work properly.
This would gradually run down the ISK stores of people with lots of ISK to waste pub stomping while gradually increasing the wallets of those who financially conservative with their fits when running against pub-stomping teams.
It would take time, but in the long run it would balance out the ISK imbalance for those who play smart. |

Not really it would make the gap bigger, mega corps will still run full proto all the time. Averge joe runs one, dies, goes broke!

Since the gear you kill in a match adds to the pool your team earns in a match, one match after your team clearing out 20-30 proto suits would fund you enough to run 2 or 3 matches in basic-adv gear against evenly matched teams. So you loose money quicker, but you gain it faster as well. And if pub stompers find that they are only clearing around 350,000 ISK for going 31/2 against noob players but loosing around 1,400,000 a match doing so, many will be eventually deterred from running them every match, thus leading to more people using lower level gear, and thus leading to at least slightly more balanced matches (at least gear-wise).
Makes sense to me.

No, not really. But it does allow me to type proper sentences where I don't write things like "having an a little gun". FYI, "a" was the correct one to put there since the word "little" doesn't begin with a vowel. Thought I'd let you know since you couldn't seem to decide there and just put both.

Before you could consider this, we need to 1) Rebalance Corporation Incomes 2) Add player Market 3) Make suits require production / production time

Before you could consider this, we need to 1) Rebalance Corporation Incomes 2) Add player Market 3) Make suits require production / production time No, not assuming that. Well HE may be. I AM assuming that not all pub stompers have access to unlimited funds, and this would cut down on the total number of people who are able to pub stomp full time. I am ALSO assuming that newer players will eventually gather that when faced with pub stompers they can run cheap gear/starter fits and make a mint off of them whether or not they win the match. This would allow new players/poor players to farm rich players for their ISK.
However, there are plenty of things that would make this go more smoothly, and plenty of other things that would need to happen first. Not the least of which are some of those you listed. I'm just spit-balling some ideas since my insomnia is acting up and it's kinda lonely on Dust around the down time hours.
Thank you for discussing the topic seriously though, it's so tiring trading insults all day... |

Hey there. You've got a lot of detail in your post. :)
For the skills on suits part , I have a feeling many of the bonuses on current suits aren't tweaked or properly implemented anyway and will probably changed in the future. We haven't even seen many of the racial suits so once these are released I think they will go back and do a once over of all passive suit bonuses.
The pricing is an idea but at the moment, if you run a proper proto-fit, it can cost you upwards of 150K or more. My average take on a match is 250-350K isk - that means I have to die just 3 times to make it unprofitable, twice to break even, and once to make a profit. Most people who run proto suits will switch to a lower tiered suit if they rack up enough deaths, I am surprised sometimes though that you see guys who are running 200K suits rack up 9 or 10 deaths and still spawn in a proto suit, meaning they're losing on verage 800K per match... ouch.
Having said that, I feel the focus will be more on matchmaking to improve the "proto-stomp" effect that can really take the fun out of the game. Even non-squad matches or "every man for himself" matches would also change things around. |

The goal of this post isn't to change pub stomping by reducing the reward for doing so, it's to make pub stomping be all risk and no reward if you loose even one fitting. This acts as a deterrent, thus cutting the average suit strength found in matches down.
I agree that better matchmaking in the end is what this game needs, however CCP has been trying for 2 years to get it right and it's still far off the mark, this would be a much easier solution to implement and may not solve the issue, but would cut down on the severity of the situation. The lower the average strength of the fittings run in matches, the more equal players are in terms of survivability. Not saying they would all be equal, since passive skill bonuses and player skill are also play a big role, but they would be far closer than they are now in many cases. |

You think that just because I'm against proto stomping I'm new or have no gear to defend myself? No, I do just fine thank you. I am concerned with Dust's longevity and the size of it's player base. The proto v militia **** is scaring away 90% of people who would give the game a chance since most people aren't willing to put up with months of abuse to learn how to get good at a game when they are getting eaten alive every time they play.
And as for my own proto stomping, I only run top tier gear when the other team does. It's cheap and tasteless to run proto gear against noobs who are just beginning their journey in Dust. I'm not going to pad my stats like that at the expense of Dust's future player base. |

I'm not going to pad my stats like that at the expense of Dust's future player base.
now then , you can write like a decent human being , not just some facless internet thing called troll , who abused his first poster , if you would have started off like this , you wouldnt have got my attention , in fairness i was about to reply to your thread when i noticed A , your name , troll. and B the crap you dealt the first poster . so i assumed at the very begining that you where just another troll on this forum . anyhow too late now , can't be bothered to get involved , im bored ...... |

Next step , pull on your big boy pants and throw yourself in ( that would be with scotty's approval) and there you will stand and forever be known as "TARD THE PROTOTATOE" Here's an idea. Learn to put an apostrophy in "here's" when combining the words "here" and "is". And learn how to "..." by using the period key instead of the comma key. I know they are right beside each other on the keyboard and all and they look quite similar, but they have very different uses. And FYI, I've been here for a year and a half now. I don't troll indiscriminately, only when provoked. And I consider nonconstructive posts provocation. Constructive criticism is one thing, like Monkey Mac. But criticism for the sake of criticism is returned in kind. It keeps me busy while cooking big meals. |

Your Assuming people at the top will be bothered by 1.4 mill, when he's got 999 Billion he isn't gonna give a monkey's uncle about his ISK.
Before you could consider this, we need to 1) Rebalance Corporation Incomes 2) Add player Market 3) Make suits require production / production time
No, not assuming that.
No problem Ripper, I always prefer discussion to slinging *****. Had to take a step back from the tanker threads for that reason.
I understand what your saying but is it fair to screw ovrer the poor guy who is barely making ends meat.
