There are a few people that would spec fully into tanks after 1.7. It's not fair that people who had vehicle skills get those SP's back and those without do not. Before you ask, I'm one of the ones getting a partial respec following 1.7. I'm just trying to get the points out of AR... I mean, make it fair to the community. Yes, make it fair. *Shifty eyes*

The problem is the partial respec can get abused.
I'm a 100% vehicle user. I can get all of my invested sp and go straight into infantry if I wanted to. People that are already infantry but want to do vehicles now that they've been revamped cannot. It is unfair. Better for the whole community to be on an even playing field choosing what they want than for a small minority to get the one up. |

Not everything can be "fair" to every player. If the player A is refunded for vehicle specs and player B is not because he specced not into vehicles; its really not a big deal. The probability of the SP going anywhere besides vehicle skills for player A is pretty high. Meaning, without vehicles, he would have naturally progressed the same amount of SP and purchased skillbooks over time as opposed to leveling up quickly after respecs.
I'm not specced into vehicles but I don't care that you guys are getting a respec. You should, since they are changing the game. So what you guys are getting some odd SP points to level up new areas or try new things (if that's possible). I don't walk into battles looking to lose. I don't have a strong opinion either way but until CCP get the core game settings figured out it very much feels like players are beta testing. So the idea of many future respecs is not crazy. But then again, why now? You know the game is going to play totally different 6 months from now also. |

If my Vehicle gets respec'd it'll be bittersweet.
I put a lot of time into Vehicle Skills, and all that planning was for nothing and I'll have to start over, maybe for better, maybe for worse.
But honestly, I don't quite know if I'll use the SP on HAVs again or dump it back into infantry and make my solider even more powerful. Or perhaps i'll sit on it forever until the game goes under, who knows. I see respecs as just people wanting a "get out of jail free card" for their lousy choices in the skill tree, and instead of grinding more SP, they just want a do-over. Granted, CCP changed some things around but that's part of this game. CCP was very open with us that the game was a work in progress. I wish I could have got a SP refund on everything I put into shotguns, but now I use them again because they sometimes work better, sometimes... sometimes...
Content will be added and taken away from this game until the game's life cycle ends. They have to keep evolving and changing it so it's not the same ole game for 10 years straight(even though we all know DUST will not last 10 years). It's not like they'll make a DUST 514 part 2 where everyone gets a fresh start.
I think people crying for respecs are really just people who relied to much on the crutches of superior setups, and when their setups were made equal they realized that they suck, so they want to get into the next more powerful setup, because gosh darn forbid a DUST player actually learns to be good at the game instead of exploiting every cheap tactic the game has to offer. Oh wait... if DUST players were good FPS players they wouldn't be playing DUST, they'd be stomping on games that have more than 4,000 people playing them...
So nevermind, forget everything I just said. |

Yes, I understand what you are saying because you expressed yourself clearly. I'm saying the ones with the old toys really don't have any advantage at all. Time played = SP respec.
No matter the method of acquiring those skillpoints, those who are getting respecs really have no difference in the skill point progression itself.
The only thing different is that they're getting a bundle of SP as opposed to those who didn't spec into vehicles, whom acquired the SP over time. |

While you and I get (roughly) the same amount of SP's per week, I get the points that I put into vehicles back. You get nothing. I can use those points anywhere. If I were to be required to put them back into vehicles until I get to a certain point, say +1Mil SP's, this post would not exist. However, I do not. Until the racial variants of everything is in, I say we get a full respec every time there is a major overhaul, not the "my weapon was nerfed, respec please" variety, but "new toys? May I get a respec please" variety. After Racials, you keep your mistakes.

LOL let me try this again. The SP you put in vehicles is the same SP I had already put into other areas for my infantry player. They remove vehicles and respec your SP. My SP has not moved. Yours has moved from vehicles and to what other areas you may want to check out or skill up.
So its quite reasonable for you to get your SP, since the vehicle changes. Nothing affects my SP or better yet, nothing in 1.7 affects my SP gain/loss.
So it evens out. Hope you understand where I'm coming from. |

So it evens out. Hope you understand where I'm coming from. Of course I do, I just disagree with you, and am trying to keep the debate alive. Let's say you DID want to spec into vehicles. The grind to get the right number of SP's is long. As opposed to me, who wants out. I don't have to grind. *Shrug* I'm not going to win you over, but it's basically that I don't have to worry, I'm getting 2M Sp's that are going into RR's and CalLogi. If I had a full respec, I'd just fill out my role. Scanner, Core, Armor, Shields, Repair Tool, Nanite Injector, Proto Logi, Full RR. As much SMG as possible after. Just my life as a Logi. But you can't do that with vehicles because no SP's back. I'm not getting free SP's, I'm just getting a refund. That's what I want the community as a whole to receive, You can't tell me that there's nothing that you'd take your points out of if you could. For me, that's Assault Rifles, which I only used because there was no Caldari variant. There is now (or will be soon). Which brings me to the people who, unlike me, did not spec into vehicles, but want into the new weapons. They have a disadvantage on skill level (not actual skill) on these weapons to me. Or the people who want to go all Minmatar, all the time. /wall of text

Here's why we need a full respect.
You have a tanker, 10mil SP in tanks (that's all he needed to max his role) and 5mil SP in infantry (the leftover points after he maxed his tank). Something like this is really the typical situation for a veteran tanker. Most have millions of SP in infantry.
Now he's getting his 10mil back he has a choice:
(1) Put his 10mil in tanks. But now his previously optimized character has nothing like enough SP to max a role, because 5mil of his SP is trapped in infantry. So he gets screwed.
(2) Put his 10mil in infantry. He has 15mil in infantry, and furthermore, he can put that all into the best fit as of December 2013. Because he can put his points into the currently best weapons, his 15mil will get him a better character than dedicated infantry will have with 20mil SP or more. The tanker is probably getting screwed - he'd sooner have a maxed out tank, but since he can't do that, he has to settle for infantry. And dedicated infantry are definitely getting screwed, as they see former tanker, Johnny-come-lately infantry instantly build a better character for less SP.
I really can't see what benefit there is to a partial respec. Infantry are going to feel left out - understandably so, as they're seeing this massive benefit given to a different part of the playerbase for free - and it makes problems for the majority of vehicle users as well.
If CCP don't care about fairness, they should at least care about profit. If they offered a one-off optional full respec for $20/-ú15 they'd be rolling in money. Who doesn't like money? |

No it isnt
I put in x amount of SP for vehicles, i worked it out about how much it would take me to spec out my vehicle tree with everything i needed
Now CCP increased the SP sink by a factor of 3
The SP i have now no longer covers what i need in 1.7
Now once i maxed out my vehicle tree i saved up 8mil SP for pilot suits which never arrived, the vehicle patch kept getting pushed back so in the end i ended up skilling into infantry so i could have a secondary playstyle
Now i need that SP from infantry back since CCP increased how much SP it takes to do vehicles |

What you miss is that Vehicles changes did not come without reason.
If I would at Uprising 1.0 chosen infantry-only side of skilling me character I would:
- End up matches with score 37/0 and none would ever call my weapon OP on forums. - While being at the middle of map I could clearly see red-structures at edge of map, even if they would not be dangerous for me and other infantry around me. - If I would get hit, I could hide behind filar and regenerate my shield instantly. - I would have no problem at all with LoS - people would not magically disperse 50m in front of me. - I would have no problem with shots registration. - I would be 'Jack Of All Trades' at Supply Depot. etc.
But I made wrong decision, and push all me SP in to vehicles, and thats why: - 1/3 of my shots are not registered. - I can easily kill RDV(or however that deploying vehicles to battle call) with 3 shots easily, and get that extra 150WP, but all the time 1 of them are not registered. - 1/4 to 1/5 of LMissile shots are registered on infantry. - It is extremely hard to me finish up match with score 20/0, and even that, there are alleways people that call me role OP. - LoS on infantry is broke, and once I can see on 200m, secondly I can not see guy who is 50m from me. - Red-structures are usually invisible - even if they trying shoot me. - Swarms are invisible for 85% of time, it's funny because they they kill best armor-fitted HAV with singiel valley if pilot do not have any tanking module active. - Forge Gun shots are sometimes invisible. - LRailgun have range of 600m but all you can see on that range is red chevrons, and only if your squadmates can see them, and you share your LoS with them(that why you usually can not see red RHAV that snipe). - SRailgun have amazing attributes but just 35% dmg modifier - on everything - SBlasters are worst than handheld weapons. - Vehicle movement has always impact on where SMissile goes(where you aim is secondary on priority list). - Vehicles passive shield recharge is broke, it's too slow, and you can not simply recharge it at Supply Depot. ..and list go one, and go one through the OP AV grenades, to Lock-your-vehicles, and thing that we are stuck in vehicles(to the end) if some blueberry want to kill MCC by our militia small railgun.. ow and that being successful HAV pilot on battlefield match do not guarantee you return of your investments in buying that HAV.
Big 'Uprising' vehicles buff was in fact small nerf compare to what we had, and everything that comes after this was not better, but worst. We deserve for respec because of this. if some Infantry-Caldary-Assault-Assault-Rifle lover would have to go through the same way as we did, he would trash this game at 1.3.
It's nice to be nice to other people, but Infantry tree do not deserve for respecialization, they were in good condition since this game launch. And even that, they get from time to time really cool exploits like Scrambler Rifle that never overheat, or Assault Rifle that does not have recail on modded DS3. All that vehicles tree ever get, and I consider as exploit was '25% resistance' on LLAV from nowhere, and of course Infantry people took advantage over this as well. |

Sources please about this SP sink. So if they increased the sink by 3, then you are saying you're at a disadvantage at getting the partial respec? You are not even coinciding with what the OP is expressing.
The OP is stating that those who get partial respec will have a advantage over others. You neither expressed how that's possibly or brought anything to the table to further support the claim.
No looking to slight the OP in a negative fashion but the mercenary has already expressed they solely wish to keep the debate alive. If reasonable answer is found, we are merely on television panel with other guests going in circles for the sake of.

No it isnt I put in x amount of SP for vehicles, i worked it out about how much it would take me to spec out my vehicle tree with everything i needed Now CCP increased the SP sink by a factor of 3 The SP i have now no longer covers what i need in 1.7 Now once i maxed out my vehicle tree i saved up 8mil SP for pilot suits which never arrived, the vehicle patch kept getting pushed back so in the end i ended up skilling into infantry so i could have a secondary playstyle Now i need that SP from infantry back since CCP increased how much SP it takes to do vehicles Sources please about this SP sink. If you paid 500 bucks for something in a store in the same location I perusing at, and the company gives you 500 back for a faulty product, where in that does the consumer who did not purchase anything has a justifiable reason to gain money as well. And what put the spender in a advantage position over the other guy who did not spend anything? But it's not like you bought something faulty. You bought something, then it was changed. Maybe you'll like the new way better, maybe you won't. I will not, so going infantry. Anyways, the weapons tree is changing, too, new weapons coming out. I want my RR, and am going to get it, I just want out of AR's. As do a lot of people. And some want INTO vehicles, like my cousin. The game has changed, let us evolve with it. After all racials are out, we keep what we got, not until then. That's my opinion.
