When I run scout it's usually a Minmatar M/1 dampened below 28 dB with an assault SMG and Flaylock. I carry either a scanner or uplinks depending on intent. I can tear up heavies but brick tanked logistics are a problem. Generally I work the fringes, hack things, then kill anybody that comes to hack back.

There is a lot of solid advice in this thread, for me the biggest thing to keep in mind as a scout is my job isn't to actually kill clones.
It's to shape the flow of battle; or turn it's tide with my uplinks. It's to keep objectives locked down. To infiltrate behind enemy lines.... distract the enemy from a strong push by taking their back letter, etc., etc.... that's just how I do it though. There are plenty of good scouts who focus on just putting down clones.
But for sure pick your fights, don't just wade in and hope for the best. Don't shoot until you are in optimal position (flanked or behind opponent), stalk your prey if needed instead of firing from a sub-optimal range, lure them to come after you into a waiting grenade or remote explosive....
Most scouts have the best luck with high alpha weapons, and I find as a Gallente half of my fits have shield extenders in the high (I run the basic gallente scout suit) and the other half have precision enhancers, because more and more medium frames are running dampeners.

scout lesson 2
when faced with three unaware enemies take out the targets of least importance first. IE MLT,STD,PRO are all caught off guard. you have one kills time before the realize you exist. option A: take out the proto while the most valuable target and the most deadly once you chew thourhg his armor the other 2 are shooting you and you die. option B: start with the MLT he is a scrub, but he has a gun, .5 seconds later he is dead, you are halfway through the STD by the time they know what is going on, the STD is dead, you are now left 1v1 with a proto suit, A hard but not impossible fight.
use terrain you are a gallente scout walls railings and buildings are your new armor never get out of shields.

You can do this but it's not as necessary as you think, with some points into passive scanning you can do the same albeit at a shorter range. Especially with the shotgun, you are already going to be at short distance. But with a scanner you are better able to tank cus you don't need the enhancer or range amplifier. I prefer remotes or nanos, though nanos can be hard to fit. I use minmatar scout mainly - and those have extremely low health. Full shield extenders bring you to 343 with upgrades, and that's barely enough to tank someone as you flee. Low slots are kin cats. I prefer the scanner

I've been using the militia basic light frame Minmatar scout and I run two different fits:
1 reactive plate 2 enhanced shield extenders Scrambler Rifle Scrambler Pistol
1 enhanced cardiac regulator 2 enhanced shield extenders Shotgun Scrambler Pistol
I use the former suit more because I hate CQC, but if I needed to use the Shotgun I'd use it. |

Use dampeners, range amps, some plates, some shield ext. red biotic for quick burst of speed. the plates will save you most of the time. damage mods.
It's not hard to be a scout. The more you play as 1 the more you'll learn. Anything in specific you need help with? USE the scout g-1. it is better then adv. Have several fits to try, one for running fast. one for assault with armor plates and reps. 1 with a damp and range. 1 with hacking and damp. It's all about the low slots.
I'm a pro gal. Greatest benefit is the damp. and range. Can't forget about REs to lay traps.
A great challenge you can try is hacking enemy's home point and guard it from WAVES of reds. Bring UL so you can come back again or get an RE and blow them all to ez mode hell.
As a scout you have to turn tail from everyone i.e. noobs, mlt gear, protos. It's all about making them look stupid. |

You guys are doing it wrong, you fight groups at a time. Sprint in and around them, back and forth, confuse the heck out of them and kill them in their panic. I like this myself. The red and ferroscale mods can be a great combo for this. You run in quick, jumping and strafing and cause chaos! Kill one here, injure one there and either escape or die. By that time the blues will come in and see them trying to shoot the scout with ARs.
CAT also try this. SG and knives can work the best for this. This isn't a scout anymore, it is a doombringer!! Oh yeah. Don't be afraid to die. |

How do you guys function?
generally when I scout I use both matari and Gallente scout
I always stay away from my team and always have a active scanner with a shotgun
when im matari It depends, my fun fit is a nova knife and flaylock with scanners and KIN. CATS. and Card. Reg.
always try to stay behind the enemy, and hide if he suspects someone to be around him if he is alone and you will kill your prey(like batman lol)
when im Gallente I use shotty and flaylocks or smg's but like I said I always have scanners, but I act diff. in gall scout.
I use on Kat for a slight speed buff, I hunt enemies on my own, avoid sticking around teammates, willing to run around the entire map just to flank enemy (same for matari scout) when I engage targets I use jumping tactics and running in circles if im up close and S-formation if im at a distance. if im fighting multiple targets I always go for the weakers one for they are usually more dangerous than a heavy, unless heavy is stupid and doesn't know im there.
basically in my gall suit im an aggressive (frontline) assassin, but when im Matari scout im a master of stealth and patients and am willing to follow a target for as long as I want as long as he is alone or in a small group. |

Which you running. Gal. Gallente for life biatch. Scan radius + a high alpha damaging weapon + dampening = an 11k fit that works decently
our dampening beaten to death by advanced/proto scanners and even if you beat a scanner the user gets a notification that you are there the only thing you can hide is your excat position on the minimap and thats it for stealth in this game.
Even though the SG hit detection gets better you rely on OHKs because if you don't kill your opponent in one shot your are dead unless you encounter someone without a clue.
Scouts are fun but they desperately need a role on the battlefield right now they are fun but not needed. |

How do you guys function? Advanced Gallente scout suit with two basic profile dampeners = you'll be scanned maybe once every ten FW matches. Slap on a shotgun and use REs as a defensive assassin to protect nodes. If you're lucky, there'll be a supply depot nearby--I have three versions of the scout suit, one with REs (for actual combat) one with compact nanohives (if I need the armor repair, or if the trek to the SD is too far) and my default suit, which has an uplink for making that initial push at the start of the game.
Then it's a game of hide-and-go-seek. Let the enemy make their way towards a node/installation/etc. and dash in behind them before unloading one or two shotgun blasts (unless it's a heavy, in which case you'll want to use your REs.)
Life is killing me.

There are a few fits that work quite well.
A few people pointed out that shotguns are not scaling too well with the ehp increase we've seen in the past month or so. So if you do plan on you using a shotgun/scanner combo consider a complex dmg mod.
I like using this fit:
STD shotgun/K-5 M209 assault smg M1/C-7 flux Complex shield extender Complex/enanced shield extender Basic Reactive plate or basic/enhanced repper Enhanced/complex cardio mod or kincat Quantem scanner
You can swap out the shield extenders for dmg mods but personally I don't think that's the way a shotgun is meant to be used.
Best tactic when with a squad is scan and flank, circle around red dots and only engage if you know you can fight and run or eliminate everyone in the area. Otherwise, you most likely won't survive in your suit for long.
That 380-400 ehp isn't going to last long, but if you can escape your shields will kick in after 4 secs allowing you to stealth engage again. The basic reactive plate/repper isn't meant to keep you alive in combat it's meant to being you back it after a redberry turned around for no reason and started blasting you.
Without a squad it's about the same, but you probably won't have bluebies distracting the enemy all the time so you can sneak in. |

Was posting +20/0s with it yesterday.
The important thing is knowing the limit of the TAC, try to keep them at a distance, if they get up close, cook a grenade, and finish them with the TAC (Blindfire) or your sidearm, which in my case was the M512-A

Im actually a fairly effective scout for what im running. Basic suit with advanced modules, basic cannon and advanced pistol. Go positive pretty much every game and usually get a little over 1k warpoints.
Carry equipment that is good to have for battlefield shifting like uplinks. I start the game with a scout with two enhanced codebreakers and then swap into my cannon scout after hacking the first objectives. Scout gameplay is very situation and you always have to be aware of whats going on, even the things you cant see. Use that new buffed scan radius of yours and put some points into profile dampening so you dont get seen as much yourself.
