I dont care what kind of stomping you prefer. I just went against a group of Latinos Killer Corps with Thales, Isukone assault forge, and Imperial scrambler rifles (with modified controllers) and I personally GUARANTEE that not a single person on my team had ANY fun in that game. Please CCP allow us to que into matches without proto, officer, and perhaps even advanced gear so that there is an option to avoid people that enjoy making this game suck for everyone on the opposite team. At least then you stand a chance at killing your opponent.
All of these weapons should kill very well. But they are intended to be used against gear of around the same meta level, and as it is now a game where you either proto stomp or be stomped, an option to go into a battle where it isn't allowed would make it much more enjoyable for the people that don't have the SP, or want to spend the ISK to compete at that level.
The ISK barrier isn't enough to keep officer weapons out of public matches, and scotty can't tell when a player will do so to put them against a harder team to keep it a good game. Also before proto stompers come in here, it is not stopping you from slaughtering new players. This only brings you down to their HP. You can still kill them in your basic suit with basic damage mods and your basic weapon.
The only down side to this is that it will seperate the players. All the proto stompers will actually have to play against proto players! And all the basic players will actually get decent matches as well. |

I'd be down for public matches to disallow Prototype/Officer gear once Faction Warfare and Planetary Conquest is in a more healthy state. Though, by saying this, I am parroting someone who originally suggested it, so credit goes to them.
Would make for a nice testing ground for players wanting to try new things that there aren't militia variants of.

Total war points would be a good way to set up matches . Skill points are actually a random thing ( take Wednesday's for example ) so to base matches on accumulative war points would help to break some of these matches up and place like with like more or less .
Public matches should have use of any weapon , hence the name public . If you think about it , none of the match options could give you a place of rest from being prototype and corporation stomped .
The best way is to calibrate the matchmaking system to go by war points and not gear like suggested , or meta levels ( made a thread a while ago and I was told that meta levels meant nothing ) or total skill points . War points are a good indicator of a person consistency in each and every game that they play because threw that one can ratio out K/D averages , W/L averages and also how good that person actually is at the moment . The better people will have more war points because of there overall consistency but also those who have been playing the longest as well will have more so that seems like a win ... win .

Yo! There is no matchmaking in DUST! There never has been and no promises have been made beyond the weird system we would up with and the useless Squad Finder.
That said, you must be aware that in the list you provided that only the Thale Sniper Rifle is an actual Officer weapon?
I run all of those and for me they are very situational. However, my common choice for an assault FG is the Isukone. I am skilled to it, bought them through the market and they are a great weapon. Takes out turrets with two hits although a properly equipped Mad with full health is almost impossible to handle by myself with only four rounds in the clip. If the tanker gets stuck or blocked then he and is ride will die. Since I rarely lose one the cost of my fit doesn't detract from their use.
Until CCP/Shanghai decides this is an actual problem do not expect any results from your devotions. CCP/Motherland sings the praises of HTFU and loves all the player versus player ganking in New Eden. So no change of direction is going to becoming from Iceland either.

2.) And what do you mean modified controllers? Modded controllers haven't worked since beta.

Contract lvl 1: 75k isk = 1000wp
Contract lvl 2: 100k isk = 1000WP
Contract lvl 3: Not restricted to just vehicles, Militia, standard and advanced gear and vehicles, 300k = 1000wp
Contract lvl 4: 300k isk = 1000wp
Contract lvl 5: 500k isk = 1000wp
If the system you propose is put into play I advise that wp:isk ratios be reworked like I have indicated. Risk vs Isk there is a great deal more at the higher levels.

I hate playing devil's advocate, but this should be a case of HTFU. I hate protostomping myself, but it is entirely their prerogative to bring whatever gear they so choose to whatever match they wish and shoot whomever they choose. EVE has the same rules. For those who know the game, there is absolutely nothing stopping me from banking a newbie with a far more powerful ship.
Now that being said, that doesn't mean nothing should change. In highsec, it is true I can take my billion isk ship and go noob hunting, but Concord, the in game police, will ensure that I don't get very far. I can open fire on whomever, yes, but the consequences mean I am absolutely garaunteed to lose my ship. What needs to happen is have this system come over to dust.
Which means, PVE is absolutely vital for new player retention. Hive them an area that's away from the pubstompers, where they can complete missions with some degree of safety. I frankly have no idea how to implement this, but currently we are forcing all players into the equivalent of nullsec PvP, thus the pubstomping.
TL;DR people can wear whatever they want in matches, but newbies need a safe haven of PVE content to avoid being pubstomped. |

I can see what your saying , seeing as how you put it that way . But skill points really don't measure a person's net worth as far as how effective they are in battles . I was just using war points because they actually measure kills but you are right with the way logi's measure out tools and gear you are correct . On Wednesday skill points are given out regardless of kills but one does receive more with the more they are involved in game .
So I guess we won't get this solved as much as it needs to be . Something has to be done .

yeah some training grounds or planets where us new players can learn to use all the hundreds of hours of equipment to learn about would be a great help, as many times as i get excited about this game i get disgusted and dont want to touch it for a week after getting everything i purchased wiped out by a bun ch of @#$%'s that just want to ruin it for new players. At least on EVE there was some modicum of safety to learn and lots more help from other players. Communication in dust for new unincorporated players is severely lacking. There was so much veteran player help when I was new on EVE, it made it such a great and fun exp. Maybe there is some of that here too but i just haven't seen much of it... |

to many flaws with all of the several proposed matchmaking systems.
i dont see a gear restriction type system as separating every1.
it will depend on how its implemented though.
maybe in a type of search parameters system?.
it wont be a massive restriction type thing based on meta level or anything of that sort.
i think the search parameters could be a list like this.
mlt only.
mlt-std.
mlt-adv.
mlt-proto.
and then we could try to improve upon this search parameter system in the future by adding sp, wp and other things into the list.
so more or less it wont actually separate the entire community.
as it would be based in customizable parameters so players can find their own preferred play level.
this way. the players still have their "freedom" and pubstomps become less common in the end result of this.
meaning the game could become more fun for everybody.
i have no intention in separating any part of the community.
this parameter system would just give players a choice on what they want to have happen in their matches.
which could create better player experiences.

Too complicated.
I think it would better to have simply:
level 1: basic and below only level 2: adv and below only level 3: no limits
With increased ISK rewards based on level of match

I agree all fair, but in any war recruits have somewhere to train before you get thrown into battle. If we just handed out rifles and no training we'd never win any wars. I just want somwhere to learn to use my equipment and increase my skill in it so i at least have a chance.... |

It would far easier to just add in levels of contracts with restrictions. There is no good way to effectively matchmake based on Wp because it favors certain roles as was already stated. You can not base matchmaking on SP because it does not reflect skill. Combining the two would be a big hassle so what options are left?
Tiered matches separating people based on total SP every 5 million SP or so. In this system you would have to allow players to join a game in a higher tier but not a lower. Its not perfect by any means but it could be a start.
Or second option would be to allow players or squad leaders to choose. Personally i think the second option is best because it allows choice. By giving a player the choice between playing with proto gear or advanced gear or even standard if they have that little SP. Naturally you would have to reward the different options with higher rewards for proto gear. Another great thing about this idea is that by rewarding the higher level gear games with more isk than the lowers you increase the likely hood that people will play in the place where they will earn more isk. It will allow more corps to gain the funds to particpate in PC battles by increasing the payouts.
If i had the choice i would way rather choose to play in proto gear games and have challenging battles than play pub matches and constantly pub stomp. Pub stomping is boring. give me more action.

Perhaps the war academy could be a permanently selectable option that allows only militia gear. Though I actually like this idea, people will then complain about high skill levels of established players giving an unfair advantage and start QQing for a "catch up" system. Wait... They're already QQing for that.

Wrong again.
Squads of good players win over blueberries any day. No matter what the gear. Let me make this clear, a full squad of latinos in militia gear, will still win over 6 random inexperienced bluerries in full proto, hypothetically. So stop fixating on the gear. It is not the cause of the problem.
If you'd like to balance public matches, the only way to do it is by averaging SP of the teams. Not War Points, not restricting gear, not anything else. SP is the closest deciding factor we have.
As for modded controllers with the SCR. You realize it has a charge shot with semi-automatic fire. That's what's happening to you.
As for pubstomping in general, I believe I have a solution here:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1494597#post1494597
I've basically been spamming this thread around, but I honestly feel it is the answer to a few problems we're having.
Basically, reduce Aim-Assist as weapon tier increases.
Benefits include - Reward skilled players across the board, regardless of gear using - Slight nerfing of less-skilled players using prototype weapony - Slight reduction to TTK - Overall reduction in pubstomping.

When did CCP say that advanced gear was made to run against advanced gear? Or that proto gear is only intended for the use of killing other proto gear.
I'm really sorry to point this out since I think that stomping is as stupid as the next guy but CCP has never claimed that any of their gear is tierd in such a way so as to restrict its use against other gear. Infact they've gone so far as to de-buff higher level gear. Flattening the playing fiield, and making it easier for those in standard/militia gear to compete with people who have protoed everything out.
You clearly were not playing this game during closed beta when the gap between equipment tiers was so monsterous you could drive a HAV through it (an even that was none too infrequent by the way).
The reason these stomps happen, and there really is no other reason, is organization. Players with better gear are typically much more organized and will annihilate a disorganized opponent. It doesn't matter one bit what type of gear the opponent is using. A disorganized enemy who is using proto-gear only takes a minute or two more to red-line then does one in starter fits. Yes the individual skill of those players doing the stomping does figure in, but it is a small piece compared to the overall organization of the team.
Typically when blue dots see a hyper organized squad or too in their midst they tent to follow them about, which means that the blue dots are now (*GASP!*) organized too, thus intensifying the organized squad(s)' effectiveness.
You need to stop spending your time here complaining and organize a squad. You'll do much better and only really get stomped by a more organized squad.

So squad A comes in with BPO fits, using their advanced weapons as a 10k isk touch to an otherwise free suit. Squad B comes in with Proto Fits, Proto Weapons (higer damage, higher ROF) and starts by wiping out squad A. Squad A has bee failing mostly due to a slower ROF of a Gek to a Duvolle/Ballocs and it really shows. While a Wyrkomi Hive replenishes 70hp of armor a k17/d hive only does 20hp. It is quite clear what the problem is. Organization has little to do with the issue for the guy at the bottom tier of gear. In a militia fit squad that mostly has relative noobs they get stomped by both Squad A and Squad B. This is new Eden, so what. When you start a toon in Eve you get a bit of protection from older players, no killing the nooblings in the starter systems. It is bad form and frowned upon by Concord, in other words no matter how pricey your ship the PO PO come and blow it up without even a chance for you to fight back.

I don't think that's too complicated necessarily, but I think with the current Dust population - a three tier system like the one you suggest would probably be better to avoid fracturing the playerbase too much.

When I was a noob with 1 million SP, do you know what I did every day I played Dust?
Get pub stomped?
Do you know what I do now that I have 16 million SP?
Pub stomp
If they stick with it eventually they will too, unless you're one of those "Better than thou" kinda guys, then whatever floats your boat.

agree with the post and sentiment.
Thought I had success in convincing my roommate to finally leave his Xbox alone for a few days and try out Dust for a bit. He plays only FPS (Call of Duty, Gears of War and Battlefield).
He stopped playing after a few days. Why you wonder?
Getting constantly Proto-stomped.
He likes the game, suit layout and the complexity of skills and equipment. But the imbalance of Standard vs Proto gear is just to freakin' big now he's no interest in coming back...

When did CCP say that advanced gear was made to run against advanced gear? Or that proto gear is only intended for the use of killing other proto gear. Sorry, you can't have Concord intervention. You already have "no friendly fire" in pub matches. Besides, if you don't like the fight, you can choose to leave the battle as easily as you chose to join it.
The forge gun splash radius nerf has not diminished my ability to kill infantry with it. Thank you.

The difference is nowhere near as steep as it used to be. It used to be that militia/basic had a tiny chance against advanced and no chance against proto. Now even the lowest tier gear has a considerably better chance against the best than it used to.
