Not one, but TWO recent threads on here were posted on by CCP Saberwing stating that he would communicate with game designers on the issue brought up.
HOWEVER, both of these issues have been obviously apparent ever since the begining of uprisng, and have been brought up in so many threads it's ridiculous.
Yet when someone posts a video about it and shows CCP what EXACTLY we're having to deal with, they finally say "oh hey look at that, there's something definitely not right here...".
Is this what you want CCP? Do you really want us to phisically show you evidence of problems in your game before you actually take a look into the situation? _______________________________________
Honestly, the main issue I have with this is that we don't have the same methods for testing the game as CCP does. If we want to test something we have to get someone else who's willing to test with us, have some sort of recording device, sync up into an oceania match where we are on opposite sides, and THEN we can start testing.
In any other circumstance of normal gameplay, the footage is debatable. I can show a clip of my HMG not being able to do damage if the reticule isn't red, and no one cares that I died because of it. But when a video comes out where someone actually shows the the HMG dispersion problem, 80+ people support it and it gets a DEV response. _______________________________________
I mean, does CCP want more of this kind of thing? Should we rally up some dedicated testers and focus efforts on figuring out why certain things feel OP or UP?
Heck, I could be wrong and maybe it's just that Saberwing is finally the DEV we've been waiting for. Someone who can create a good communication line between the most important problems and the people who can supply the answers and/or solutions.

You people clearly don't understand their point of view then. NO SH&T A VIDEO IS GOING TO GET A BETTER RESPONSE. You can write and write about problems all you want, at the end of the day its hard to literate a problem in the game. Especially one as complicated as HMG's not doing damage unless the reticule is red. "THATS NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND" you say? Sure its not hard to understand what your writing, its a problem when CCP trys to REPLICATE the issue.
REPLICATE. If they cant REPLICATE it, then it becomes incredibly hard for them to fix.
Video is an outstanding way to show CCP how exactly a glitch works. It provides a step by step basis on how to replicate a bug or glitch. Once they can replicate it, they can then isolate the bug, figure out why it happens. and THEN fix the problem.
Its not a communication thing dude. Just because CCP doesn't blue tag every single god damn thread doesn't mean they don't look and read what people are writing. Why should they post on a thread that's brought up the same issue for the twelfth time? It would just be tedious and a waste of time.
My point is, yes, CCP has said time and time again that video is a good way to get things fixed. If you provide video evidence it provides a very sturdy platform for CCP to work off of. Otherwise, all you write on the forum is nothing more then opinion. The only difference is that some people's opinions sound more constructive and intelligent then others.

In the case of HMG aiming bug, they were given detailed description of what and when it's happening months before video was posted. And they surely can test and replicate something more easily than us players. I don't think that every post in the feedback/requests (or general discussions) should receive a blue tag or CCP isn't communicating with it's playerbase. But it seems that they either don't pay attention to some requests, or discard them as "not important" unless people aren't screaming about it left and right. Since heavies aren't really the most used class in this game, it's no wonder there wasn't much noise being made about the bug.
Anyway, I'm suspecting they knew about the bug all along, but decided to be silent about it and hope noone notices. This probably isn't even a bug in a classic sense. More likely they decided to "borrow" the aiming mechanics from other weapons, modify it a bit to make it look like it has a spread, and just go with that. This is probably the reason why they ignored all the previous threads on the topic, until someone made a video for all to see. |

I already stated in the OP a point as to why us making videos is such a chore as they have to be made in such a specific way, but let me clarify a bit:
1. We don't have an easy way to test things ourselves. Even so it takes a lot of time and effort just to set up the right conditions in order to start testing. Not to mention the whole recording and video making process as well.
2. Making videos isn't enough. I stated that I made a video about the HMG problem in the past and no one cared about it because it was just normal gameplay. In order for things to actually have any proof behind them (and for them to be even acknowledged by others), they need to be recorded in a testing environment where no other outside variables can affect them. This is the only way to keep other players from posting things about how it's my fault that the HMG dispersion doesn't work, or whatever.
3. I shouldn't have to spend time and effort to make a video showing such an obvious problem (like the lack of dispersion when using an AR for the first 30 rounds). 90%+ of the playerbase has used or uses the AR. Describing the issue in detail should be good enough since all a player has to do is equip an AR the next time they play and fire at a point on a wall to see how little dispersion/recoil there is.
Not only this, but CCP can test these things 100x faster than we can, yet we have to spend so much time and effort to bring such obvious information to light.
If we are supposed to be the primary testing force for this game, why is it then that we have no area in the game to easily test things? We don't have a sandbox mode, or a single player weapon range, or even a way to create private matches. __________________________________
We have to go out of our way just to provide them information that isn't that hard to obtain, all to make sure that certain COMMON broken machanics in this game are actually known to the DEVs.
-If you use an AR and ADS you'll notice that it has no dispersion for the first 30 rounds, and you'll wonder why Dust has this mechanic yet every other FPS doesn't. This was apparent to me ever since the very first match I played of this game.
-If you use an HMG you'll find that you mainly do damage when your reticule is red (i.e. the tiny dot in the center is on the other player), yet you do minimal damage in your spread. This takes a bit of time to actually realize, but most players saw this was an obvious problem with the changes in uprising.
-If you throw a grenade and kill a heavy in one shot you'll probably think of yourself as a great shot...until you realize that your grenade only says it does 600 damage and that heavy had 1300 ehp. You can't tell me this is supposed to be working as intended.

Confused as to where you go that...
No, I want CCP to actually acknowledge things the FIRST TIME they are brought up, and not finally get around to looking at them 6 updates after the problems was introduced because someone finally took the time to make a video to show them proof that the HMG dispersion doesn't work...or that the AR really doesn't have any dispersion while ADS.
Both of these things have been brought up a number of times ever since uprising, and yet they are just now something that is deemed important.
But like I said, maybe it's just that Saberwing is an awesome DEV.

I imagine the peeps in CCP looking at these issues have a frakkin' mountain of tasks on their plate atm.
I think what i would do in that situation and one of the first things would be to cherry-pick the ones that wouldn't involve hours of trying to unpick multiple forum threads trying to identify probable issues and hunting for smoking-gun leads on how to approach a problem.
The first things i would cherry pick would be video evidence. The next thing i would cherry-pick are the reliable posters, if i knew who they were, and if i was compiling a to-do list on problems i couldn't reproduce from the forum threads, i'd give it a while and wait for multiple reports from multiple sources before investing too much time.
And as a final point, one wonders how hard an individual would have to fight to get devtime devoted to a particular fix, or to get an issue bumped up from the backlog. I think in some situations a dev would have to mount a friggin' crusade to get an issue put on the table for immediate attention.

I agree that there should be some sort of testing environment. That's not the issue here. What bothers me is when people make whistle blowing posts claiming CCP is awful at communicating when comparatively with 95% of other game developers they are doing a great job communicating. Is there things that could be improved on? Yes, but it takes time to fix things. In the meantime people are just going to have to deal with it. Also CCP has stated before that a sort of "test environment" was intended to be added. There just really focused on more pressing issues right now. (ie: vehicle rebalance (which I assure you gets a TON MORE ATTENTION) and the new FW changes coming soon).

apparently.
Making a bunch of threads pointing out something is wrong obviously isn't the way to go. I need to get a recording device and make videos because obviously people don't know what they're talking about.
Uprising 1.0 - "Hey something's not right with the HMG"
Uprising 1.4 - "Hey the HMG is officially useless. I think it's the spread that's the problem"
Uprising 1.??? - "Hey here's a video showing something's wrong with the HMG"
CCP - "Oh right! Thx for bringing that to our attention"
How many months have people been saying the HMG is poop? I've been saying it since 1.0, but did no test, assuming the dmg and bullet spread was the problem. Not realizing that I needed to aim the little white pixel at people to get hitmarkers.
Ridiculous. No wonder so many people left. Not really the fact that the game is moving along at the rate of a snail, but more the fact that CCP doesn't listen to the community. CPM there? Big whoop. They probably don't listen to them either.

Not to mention other small stuff mentioned in the past that were suppose to come sooner rather than later, *cough*paintbucket*cough*. A roadmap by CCP is something like this - Fix abc - Fix def - Fix ghi (maybe more content) So when something gets pushed back for a couple months, that roadmap basically just tells you "more fixes on the way"... no dates, no ETA, nothing. That's not a roadmap really, that's a rough guestimation of when stuff coming. At this point, nobody would really hold their breath for any date that CCP sets.
Then by that case every example of a road map shown by other game developers are not road maps either.
