Anyway, I too use a Gallente Advanced scout. I consider scouts the only "proper" sniper suits; the rest are just armor-stacking whores who can't bear the thought of a countersnipe headshot being fatal. For a long time I didn't bother to go into battle with a sidearm or grenades; because I'm just that hardcore. I carry them now, but rarely survive long enough to use them once engaged.
As for this thread's theme, I'm not at all ashamed of sniping. I'm a misanthropic loner who doesn't take orders well; about the only thing I'm fit to do in Dust is solo snipe. And no, I don't corrupt precious Factional Warfare with my parasitic redlining; I only pub, where winning doesn't really matter, does it?
Also, never used a Thale's, for the record. NT-511 or Charge.

It might take you 2-4 weeks of steady play to get used to the timing necessary to make headshots on moving targets at any range, and body shots on moving targets in excess of 500m (assuming they render, ha!).
A great game for me, starting out, was going 10-0. My new record is 25 kills, 7 assists, 0 deaths, 10 headshots, from ~497m with an NT-511. Record with a Charge is 31k, 2a, 0d, 13hs, from ~524m. And no, I don't write down my results after battles, what kind of freak would do that?
Probably a better indicator of your accuracy (and improvement) is in total damage done, since getting kills can be capricious and dependent largely upon the suit level of your enemies. If you do 10,000 and above damage, but only get a few kills, it means you're reasonably accurate enough, but likely facing veterans with high average HP. In other words, don't get discouraged quickly. Eventually you'll find there's no satisfaction like Charge headshotting a moving Logi with a full ~700 HP while he's repping someone. If I smoked, I'd probably light up after kills like that. |

Gahh. I can almost never hit a moving target. Some people say to aim ON the guy, some people say aim a little ahead...
but seems like I'm always left with a couple of results. either
a) dust plume ahead of him
b) dust plume behind him
c) So..umm.. did i hit him or what?
and when I target over him again, seems like still full everything, so... AURGH!

Another method when targets are moving about is to just aim where you believe they will go an once they cross your reticle fire. This requires good anticipation and patience. Observe said enemy an give your self some time to fire instead of chasing them. After getting hit targets will usually abandon there tactics once they are about to die.

I FINALLY got around to unlocking the Ishukone.
And, sad to say... I'm underwhelmed.
I tried swapping between NT511 and Ishukone.
I saw NO difference in scope.
Have you tried actualy measuring it against something, and if so, what?
That, coupled with its ludicrous cpu requirements... I had to swap out a plate, for a CPU extender??!! ... means I dunno if I'll ever use it on a regular basis.
I mean come on. 10 lousy extra damage, with no ROF change, for all that?!?
So there's a data point for the original poster.

Aim below the head...never try to get a moving headshot, they are rare. Aim where he is running and aim for the midsection..might take two shots to kill him if you are using damage mods or you might get a kill assist but it is still something.

Whereas Ishukone is a total waste of time and money, the charged... Oh YES! THIS, is what sniping is supposed to be like!!
After spending gazillions of SP on sniper ops 5, who wouldn't spend a lousy 31k more, to use charged ???

I dont understand why anyone would use the Ishukone. EVER.
