I'm fed up with people quitting when their team is in difficulty leaving us to wait for new players to join, killboards full of 0/0 k/d because of the turnover of quitters. Enough said |

although a bit drastic I find myself in sympathy to this idea ... It wouldn't even hurt those who quit because they need to be somewhere in a hurry.

I find it funny how someone people who do this; think they're win/loss or kill/death ratios aren't being affected by quitting the match at last minute. |

From what I understand, quitting a match counts as a loss anyways. But there have been times where I leave an unfinished match. Not because my team was losing but because sometimes bad mechanics drive me crazy. And if it's not bad mechanics making me quit early, then it would be because Scotty threw me into a match that was about to finish and the enemy has already overrun my team into the redline.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

I don't usualy quit matches... but I can understand why people do, when you have a team full of redline sniping stoopid blueberries why stay? and why should the merc leaving be punished for not wanting to be on a team of useless mercs?
as far as the stat padders who leave when the other team is a challenge, F!@#K em.
don't punish the rest of us for a few jackoffs. we all know who they are, and while they may think they are awesome amongst each other, the greater majority of players here dismiss them and ignore them. so let the so called elite live in their small village together where they can show off their e-peens to each other in small dark rooms illuminated by tiny flashlights while the rest of us in the larger relevant community continue to enjoy this game together.

If you get dc'd, the power goes out, your S.O./Parent demands your presence away from the game or DUST manages to lock up you PS3 (Again!) you will get some SP/ISK reward for either the loss or the win.
If the quit was because the game was lost, that will be the most likely result, of course.

I understand your frustration - but if you have literally half your team redline sniping with militia gear vs proto squads, why would you stay? In that situation I would honestly just quit the match and turn off my PS3 if this mechanic was implemented.

Actual response to OP:
Why? Scotty will block you. If you are doing FW then there will be delays as well.
Non-snarky reply:
If, and that is a huge if, CCP/Shanghai would stop dropping me into a battle that was lost before I started searching for one, then I might consider it. However the current solution means that easily 50% of my losses are because I was dropped into a match I never should have been put in.
Personally I rarely quit from a match. However, coming in with everything Red or destroyed against two squads of Proto Stompers what is the reason to stay? None. Being blocked for 15 minutes means rage quitting DUST and playing a game that is fun instead. Enough of those one might consider playing the other games instead of even launching DUST. Which is not a bad idea come to think of it.
Many of those 0/0 are AFK farming, so there is that to consider. |

I'm not in favor of this. I'm done being proto-stomped. I'm all for a challenging battle but when I'm facing two full squads of proto bears using proto weapons and calling in tons of vehicles.... no thanks. If they are not interested in a challenge they can find another patsy to stomp. It's not worth my time.
I try to catch this stuff in the war-barge but I don't always recognize the names on the opposing team, nor do I always even get to the war-barge so sometimes it takes me a few minutes into the battle to realize it and then I bail.
Until we have better matchmaking or battle areas segregated by tier of gear level then I'm not going to give the proto-bears the satisfaction of killing me over and over; it's not worth my time.
This is my form of manual-override matchmaking and I don't want to be penalized for it.
There are plenty of good, worthy opponents out there for me to hone my skills against. I just gotta find 'em myself and this is how I do it.

It sounds like more people need to start joining squads before joining battle, I never join a match on my own, if you join a battle solo in this game you can expect to get stomped. 1 scan and 6 enemies see you through walls, hills or whatever, no getting away from that if you are by yourself....
Proto gear doesn't make much difference when a full squad are all shooting at you.
Check the team chat list when you get a team full of red line snipers, I can guarantee none of them will be in a team even though having someone in the combat area with a scanner would make their targets glow neon for them.
My motto for this game is SOLO = DEAD and I wish everyone else would realize it.
I guess they think that playing solo lets them justify rage quitting but they would have to stick it out if they were in a squad. It shows that people must be planning to quit any battle that is not going in their favor.
If you get a team that is all red line sniping then do the same, use a front-line sniper fit, it's free, just stop being pussies.

Sorry OP, but some people are leaving because they don't like the bad game. By your reasoning, the only reason you are losing is because people are leaving the match. People tend to leave a match when they are losing, when they are out matched. When they tire of getting proto stomped.
Me personally, no I don't leave the match. I find a nice corner somewhere, safe, and just kinda hang out until the match ends. Sometimes I take a dropship on top of the MCC and hang out there. And you know what, I've tried it with or without my input and it doesn't help.
At some point you have to realize that there are only 4 other blue dots pushing, and that it's probably best to simply to hang out and not lose money. If my side is getting proto stomped, you can count me out buddy. I'm just there for the SP and ISK.
Man I hate grinding.

Introverts, don't like playing with others. Besides, solo does not equal dead sir. I typically do my best when I run solo. Squading does not make or break who's going to win. I can have a full squad of nobodies, against proto bears running solo, and still lose.
But dude, it is not fun getting stomped. And if people want to leave a dead match, then let them. My motto is MOVE ALONG. Hope the next match is better.

it wouldn't solve anything.
i have seen countless examples of people dropping out of a pub stomp only for a good squad or a few good players jumping in and turning the fight. all a timer is going to do is force those players who would have normally jumped out of the game to stay until the end but not contributing.

That is exactly what I was going to say.
As much as I hate people who give up on matches the fact is they will just spawn MCC, rubberband their analogue stick, and not contribute a single thing for the rest of the match.
In the end you wouldn't be penelizing people who give up with a rule like this but rather you'd be impacting people who freeze or get disconnected and have to quit before getting back into the game.

I understand the frustration here. I play strictly Caldari FW matches and since November rewards rolled around the Gallente have been kicking the living **** out of us. I started a one man corp to play Caldari FW called Templis Dragoons for people who want to fight on the losing side and grow together. Send me a mail in game and we can ram our heads into the Gallente wall over and over together :-) . |

Only if matchmaking quit putting me in half-done matches.
Seriously, I have to end up quitting at least 1/3 of the matches it puts me in right away because the game is already about to end or within a few minutes of being over.

This. People are just looking for competitive matches, everyone gets frustrated getting thrown into a proto stomp or a match that has already basically ended.
Thank the terribad matchmaking.

No.
1. You shouldn't be penalized for leaving a protostomp. 2. You shouldn't be prevented from joining a match if your internet cuts out in the middle of a battle.
Now, you might say that other games have this. That is true. However, in Dust 514, you pay for gear you lose in a protostomp, and the only thing you can actually do are PvP battles. This system would just cause a lot of unnecessary frustration.

I'd rather they just leave instead of folding under the first sign of opposition and sitting in the back of the map circle jerking. I honestly think CCP needs a more aggressive boot system, if a npc corp is paying us to fight why would they keep people on the ground who aren't doing anything to win them the battle. I get tired of the spinners and corner walkers, along with the incompetent blues and if I want to say **** it and hope for a better match next time I have every right. I am paid to fight, if I leave I simply don't get paid.
