You're a little late. It was all covered in this other thread:

 https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1485658#post1485658

But tl;dr - CCP has made a commitment. They work on their own timeline. It will be ported over to PS4 when and only when it makes sense to do so. And not already covered, the new stuff was announced at both Fanfest 2013 and EVE Vegas in Oct 2013 and they confirmed new stuffs will be out before end of this year. They already have the racial stuffs (watch the demo's on youtube) and just need to integrate them onto the sony network etc.

Determine the attachment rate of DUST on the PS3 and then use that number to figure out it for the PS4 attachment rate. Which one is bigger? The system with the larger number wins.

80M PS3 with 10k players is about one and 8,000 PS3 sold had DUST actively playing.
If the PS4 sold 5M on day one the we would lose a little over 600 active players IF DUST is downloaded on 1 out of every 8,000 PS4

No matter how you look at it the PS3 is the system to program for if you want to move games.

Is there some kind of secret drinking game going on that i'm not a part of? Every time someone makes a half baked post about the PS4 killing Dust we take a shot? I wish I would have known, I could have been hammered for the past month and a half. Player numbers seem pretty stable for a while now, the core seems fairly dedicated, and "the grind" will reel people back in when they beat their new games in a week or 2.

some will n many more as we get closer to xmas ... plus after xmas sales .. dust needs to act fast to save its player base.
dust doesn't have 8000 separate active weekly players ( not counting alts) ... so every player we lose... it will show.
 ps ... the post says "dust 514 & ps4" ... not ps3 vs ps4 ...

I am afraid the math isn't that simple (and linear, may I add), you also need to recognize the amount of games on the PS4 now compared to the PS3. Because of that distribution, we could have MUCH more people playing Dust 514 and taking advantage of the lack of games on PS4's release, or we can wait a couple years when there are much more games already stable and competing.

It seems CCP likes entering the arena when the competition is more than just started.

Sorry to say this, but I think that you are very wrong here.
CCP in my eyes, missed a very huge chance. It's not like they need to stop Dust on PS3s, they could have done it on both systems. Like Destiny or other modern shooter do the same. Now think about the hype for a moment, look how extremely well the PS4 is sold out. I know some people (me included!) who are having a PS4 at the very first day, without having games that are absolute essential. Why is that? Because the console gamers are ready for new stuff, we have waited some years now and the pure excitement for new hardware is big. So big that I buy the PS4 even if there are not games at all.

And now think for a second what would happen if you turn you PS4 on and discover a free to play shooter on the Network. What do you think would the people do? The new console owners? Seeing a free shooter? Yeah, they would download it and take a closer look at it.

Personally I know people who sold the PS3 to buy a PS4 and I know people who don't have a PS3 but already have a PS4. Now guess what? They would like to give Dust a chance. And now that we are talking about chances, Dust had it, they could have been there, they could have jump on the new sensation train and show some presents.

Now as it is, Dust is NOT present on the PS3, some PS3 owners didn't even know about Dust, yeah, the own a PS3, play shooter and never heard of Dust.

I'm a hundred percent sure, that CCP did a big mistake now jumping day one on the PS4. I'M absolutely certain about it.

Dust is in absolutely no shape to be on PS4 right now, and putting it on PS4 would do almost nothing for it's numbers in my opinion. At best it would just split current numbers between PS3/PS4.

EDIT: Marketing is a different story however, and CCP would do well to try and spread the word better than they have been.

A Sony representative has provided the following statement to IGN:

"A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.

There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isnGÇÖt a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction."

I think it will take a little longer.
The PS4 have two lunch days. 15 Nov merica and the 29 Non rest of the world. This could extend the network problems if you ask me. (15 Nov. in Merica to farm some xbox marked shares)
Xbox One is lunching only in some countries on 21 Nov. this could lead to some very big network problems.

But actually I was hoping to see a Dust514/PS4 discussion here, I guess it is not possible without being called a occult member or some one pointing out that the PS4 is already crap?

How did CCP make a mistake by bringing Dust 514 to PS3 long before a PS4 was announced? How are they making a mistake now by not just jumping ship to PS4, even though so many things need to be done to this game?

That's the part I don't get. Common sense seems to be forgotten. It doesn't make sense for CCP to go to PS4 now, especially since history explains to us that every new console generation iteration needs a significant time block to allow folks to transition from PS3 to PS4. It doesn't make sense when content still has to be developed for the game itself. Also you must consider that this is new tech. So we want CCP, in the game's current state, to bring it to PS4 and also work on new content while learning and understanding the tech of PS4? That's alot of work to be done. It's not a "plug and play" situation, so to speak.

Why are we wanting more on the plate? PS4 isn't going to solve anything besides making Dust graphically appeasing. Content still needs to be added. Bugs, weapon balances and such still needs to be hashed out. It's like a kid who sits at a table who only ate half of his dinner but he is already reaching for his dessert. It's not good to do that.

It will come to PS4 but right now, its really not a concern. And its for reasons that we should at least understand. Let's continue to get this game better before we think of the next big thing.

I haven't played Dust for a little while now, and am done with it for the time being. However when, and if, they get on PS4, I will probably take another look at it if it seems decent enough by then. The game still has potential, and is one heck of a competitive shooter due to a lot of very dedicated and beast players. But it does need a LOT of work and TLC.

Had a lot of good times in the year+ I played it (the longest I have ever stuck with a single online game), but I have moved on. And with the PS4 officially released as of today, I doubt I will ever get back into Dust for the PS3. It'll be KZSF for me for a while.

Sadly I don't think this game will make it to PS4 because it will have died before it even had the opportunity, but would be nice to see it evolve and eventually make it.

As for the racial variants, I expect them to come around 1.8 or 1.9, but no later than 2.0

Just look at the DEV Blogs for 1.7. This is enough proof that CCP is getting work done as opposed to just plastering SoonGäó everywhere and crossing their fingers hoping people will forget.

I mean it's just appalling. CCP releases an DEV blog, people praise it.

CCP releases an update, and the playerbase praises it. Then 2 weeks later they decide to moan and groan about the other stuff that wasn't in the update.

 Will anything satisfy you people?

Actually, don't answer that. I already know the answer is no

I'll bet 2 million ISK that DUST 514 survives to the PS4.

And when it does, I want a formal thread saying "I told you so".

Eve survived because it is fun for new players back when mmos was the thing to.do and u pay monthly subscriptions

Dust is ftp. Its revenue depends on new player paying for new things. What are vets spending money on? Wheress the revenue streeam when its the same 2000 vets for 3 years and u all have ur bos and dont need mid level aur gear when u have proto.

Ps4 was an opportunitu missed for nubs to play against other nubs and someday mix the 2 communities. Keep the proto suites out

If DUST went to 2 different platforms (of 2 different generations) simultaneously using presumably 2 different engines (unreal 3 & 4) development will grind to a halt. When there are balance issues, they will have to figure out if it's the PS3 client, PS3 server code, the Unreal 3 engine, or PS4 client issues, PS4 server issues, probems with the Unreal 4 engine. When they make changes it will have to be thoroughly tested in both environments as well as mixed environments. It complicates development exponentially (and consequentially slows it by the same factor). We need CCP to focus on getting the missing content in place and balanced before the monumental challenge of porting this thing over to next gen.

Once we have the basic gameplay in a good place, then it is time for a full court press to do the port (perhaps for a spring 2015 release). With a fresh port of a solid game, the hope is we will see a new set of reviews and a marketing campaign to promote DUST. I think we will see a surge of players from that point forward. This game is still too much like a beta right now.
