How did CCP make a mistake by bringing Dust 514 to PS3 long before a PS4 was announced? How are they making a mistake now by not just jumping ship to PS4, even though so many things need to be done to this game?
That's the part I don't get. Common sense seems to be forgotten. It doesn't make sense for CCP to go to PS4 now, especially since history explains to us that every new console generation iteration needs a significant time block to allow folks to transition from PS3 to PS4. It doesn't make sense when content still has to be developed for the game itself. Also you must consider that this is new tech. So we want CCP, in the game's current state, to bring it to PS4 and also work on new content while learning and understanding the tech of PS4? That's alot of work to be done. It's not a "plug and play" situation, so to speak.
Why are we wanting more on the plate? PS4 isn't going to solve anything besides making Dust graphically appeasing. Content still needs to be added. Bugs, weapon balances and such still needs to be hashed out. It's like a kid who sits at a table who only ate half of his dinner but he is already reaching for his dessert. It's not good to do that.
It will come to PS4 but right now, its really not a concern. And its for reasons that we should at least understand. Let's continue to get this game better before we think of the next big thing. |

I haven't played Dust for a little while now, and am done with it for the time being. However when, and if, they get on PS4, I will probably take another look at it if it seems decent enough by then. The game still has potential, and is one heck of a competitive shooter due to a lot of very dedicated and beast players. But it does need a LOT of work and TLC.
Had a lot of good times in the year+ I played it (the longest I have ever stuck with a single online game), but I have moved on. And with the PS4 officially released as of today, I doubt I will ever get back into Dust for the PS3. It'll be KZSF for me for a while.
Sadly I don't think this game will make it to PS4 because it will have died before it even had the opportunity, but would be nice to see it evolve and eventually make it. |

Dust will survive to the PS4.
Just look at EvE Online, people said CCP was gonna fail, and now look at it.
As for the racial variants, I expect them to come around 1.8 or 1.9, but no later than 2.0
Just look at the DEV Blogs for 1.7. This is enough proof that CCP is getting work done as opposed to just plastering SoonGäó everywhere and crossing their fingers hoping people will forget.
I mean it's just appalling. CCP releases an DEV blog, people praise it.
CCP releases an update, and the playerbase praises it. Then 2 weeks later they decide to moan and groan about the other stuff that wasn't in the update.
Will anything satisfy you people?
Actually, don't answer that. I already know the answer is no

And when it does, I want a formal thread saying "I told you so".

Eve survived because it is fun for new players back when mmos was the thing to.do and u pay monthly subscriptions
Dust is ftp. Its revenue depends on new player paying for new things. What are vets spending money on? Wheress the revenue streeam when its the same 2000 vets for 3 years and u all have ur bos and dont need mid level aur gear when u have proto.
Ps4 was an opportunitu missed for nubs to play against other nubs and someday mix the 2 communities. Keep the proto suites out |

If DUST went to 2 different platforms (of 2 different generations) simultaneously using presumably 2 different engines (unreal 3 & 4) development will grind to a halt. When there are balance issues, they will have to figure out if it's the PS3 client, PS3 server code, the Unreal 3 engine, or PS4 client issues, PS4 server issues, probems with the Unreal 4 engine. When they make changes it will have to be thoroughly tested in both environments as well as mixed environments. It complicates development exponentially (and consequentially slows it by the same factor). We need CCP to focus on getting the missing content in place and balanced before the monumental challenge of porting this thing over to next gen.
Once we have the basic gameplay in a good place, then it is time for a full court press to do the port (perhaps for a spring 2015 release). With a fresh port of a solid game, the hope is we will see a new set of reviews and a marketing campaign to promote DUST. I think we will see a surge of players from that point forward. This game is still too much like a beta right now.
