I'm sticking with the game for the long haul. I like CCP's vision, the SP system, the plan laid out at the Vegas talk, the risk vs. ISK which results in high motivation for self-preservation (and truly unique and compelling gunfights as a result). I'm frustrated at the slow pace of development, the lack of content, the horrible NPE (it needs a story-based interactive gameplay tutorial), the lack of a testing environment (see my sig for a proposal), and currently the ridiculously short TTK that makes all of the unique and interesting aspects of this game irrelevant.
Every patch has been an improvement, and I'm hoping to see all racial favors of weapons/suits/vehicles coming over the next several months, as well as the TTK being fixed (too long in 1.3, slightly too short in 1.4+ and ridiculously too short in 1.6). Integration with EVE, P2P markets, PvE, vehicle capacitors, transitioning to next-gen hardware, improved matchmaking, bigger fights, player drones, stealth, jetpacks, grappling pins/magnetic boots, deployable shields, e-war, fighting on other planets with unique physics (gravity) and locations (cloud city, lava, oceanic), richer maps (with water, caves/tunnels, vegitation, environmental effects, etc.), and in space will make this the most incredible game ever produced. Maybe I'm an idiot for having so much faith, but I think this game is truly something special, and I can't wait to see what it will evolve into in 5+ years. All I can say is I'll be glad I stuck with it from the early days and supported the game in the ways that I could to help it grow.

The problem with dust is CCP has put to much EVE mentality into Dust. In a game like Dust we want content and a way to earn items without the ever grueling grind. I should not have to grind millions of SP just to skill into a suit that might be nerfed a month later. I should not have to grind for months to just raise my base stats to just be able to survive for another 1-2 seconds. I should not have to grind for months to max out my stats in CPU/PG and still not be able to place all the gear I need on my suit. If I am running advance I should be able to use all advance items on the suit same as proto. Challenge I dare someone to be able to put all Complex and proto items on a proto assault suit and show a working model. You cant due to lack of CPU/PG and you have to choose were to sacrifice.

But, like a lot of people on this forum, you read something and only pick out the parts you want to and dismiss everything else that won't suit whatever you have to say. I know, I know... reading is such a chore. Letters, words, sentences... that's asking a lot, and then to contemplate and critically think about what you read... that's asking to much
So many words. Brain 'splody. I think I found the part: you play because its free?
Let me craft a metaphor to try and understand your post. Basically, CCP laid out some free fermented shark. It tastes horrible. So horrible that most run away to barf and never come back but you continue to eat it because its free. Then there are the manly Vikings that eat it because they belong to the cult of the fermented shark.

The problem is not with 'the grind' per se, it's that the skill paths we're offered as goals to strive for are liquid, and change in value dramatically as new patches tear up the rules of the previous versions. The only thing that's remained a steady constant is the same thing causing most of the game's upset, the ever-present AR tree.

You cannot transfer accounts. They are yours forever. With the obvious EVE inspired farming of accounts taken into account (ha-ha) all of these have accounts on their personal PSN account. Which means giving that account to someone else gives them access to everything.
A separate PSN account with one character is farmable in DUST and on PSN. Your own is not. At least only a fool would consider it. |

I have used a KB to type in text and have tried KB/M. The mouse worked great when the small rail gun turret was worth using. The head shot with a small rail gun was very possible with a good mouse. I am not a consistent KB/M user though, I even use a controller whenever possible on my Steam games.
I don't like the break in the game mechanics that KB/M causes for me. WASD is a dumb solution in particular if you have trouble with a finger or two. As the Keyboard mapping we were supposed to get turned out to be allowing a CoD setup for controllers I have stopped using either of them. I could try them again if I could change the button/key bindings as is common in PC games. |

Takahiro Kashuken wrote:So they have a passive alt on 7mil SP, another alt on 8.6mil SP
So what is there main at? Sorry if I was not clear. That player is myself. My alt is Thranx1231: Heavy, Assault, HAV Gunner with 8.6M SP.
I have another PSN account that I created sometime back (don't recall when now) that was supposed to be a Pilot and use the early released Pilot Drop Suit Skill tree. It was very expensive for SP so I started that character with the intent that it would only be a pilot. However, the pilot suit has yet to be released and thus the SP for it is unknown. So it is just sitting there waiting.
7M SP is not going to be enough for that character as I have 6.5M SP in armor tanks alone and will need to double that at the very least without adding in the pilot drop suit. |

If you have seen Any posts from me that contain EVE it is obvious I hate that game and 99.999% of its players. I hated it before DUST and only because of playing here I have finally found a few EVE players that are likeable nice people. Every other person I ever knew that played or wrote about EVE were horrible examples of something less than humanity.
Is that clear enough for you?
I am an RPG player that does some FPS (Borderland level no CoD or BF(1-N). The tied in to EVE as an MMO with the RPG/FPS is what got me interested. The failure to deliver what was promised or to even come close the to great potential of the game is what is driving my friends away. I am still here. Quite grumpy, admittedly, but here.
For all its greatness MAG is dead, or will be when SONY finally kills the servers in Jan/2014. I never played it. |

I just added money to my SOE account but I haven't pulled the trigger. I may go without until 1.7 drops and then see if I'm disappointed or not. My son has already moved on. Whale. Definitely.
A normal game cost $60. It might require monthly access Xbox Live $5/month (and PS4 soon as well). Spending four times what you would on a non-Free game must surely count as a whale.
Sorry to hear about your son already having moved on. 1.7 will be the make or break for me as well. |

Zyrus Amalomyn wrote:KalOfTheRathi wrote:IKB/M support was one reason given, consoles are controllers driven and many don't like the lack of balance I can quite honestly say your friends have no ******* clue what they're talking about. Mouse input is crippled in Dust so badly anyone complaining about it is hating just to hate. There is no missing clue, Zyrus.
You just have different opinions than some of my friends is all. Clues are not required when all the data is in.
They don't like the imbalance that KB/M gives over controller players. It is well known and documented extensively. Aim Assist has helped but it makes the game less fun.
And KB/M players have a very well stated opinion regarding CCP ganking their mice. All true. However, if you don't like to play against controllers because they can easily kill you then you have the right to that opinion. Just as they do because they fell that KB/M players have a distinct advantage over them.
Just the way it is. |

Hows that I want all things. Here is two examples anyone could follow. I buy a new sports car, I spent years saving up and I am loving the thought of owning this car. I show up and the dealer tells me I can have the body and maybe the stereo but I cant have the V8 unless I upgrade my electric system or I can lose the radio, power windows, and locks and then I can afford to put a 4 cylinder into the car if i decide to keep the accessories. Then after a month of driving it, they recall it and remove 2 of the tires because the car is faster than others and it might not be fair to other drivers that I am faster.
Second example you spent years saving up to buy a new house. After you have done your research and acquired a loan you are now set to buy the house. After buying the house the realtor removes some windows and doors and says they cant all fit in your house and you need to upgrade or you cant keep them. Stunned you quickly upgrade the house to keep all your windows and doors. A month later the bank shows up and bulldozes half the house, why because the neighbors are complaining your house is better and you should not have anything better than them. As you stare at your demolished house you request to have your money return, the bank laughs and say save up to buy another one as they walk off.

I know for a fact that I bought: An elite pack Whatever the the 50 dollars pack is. A new merc pack. Something like 20 dollars on small things. 15 dollars on another.
And I lost track how many times I bought the old merc pack. But I can safely say it's 10+.
