Please. It's long overdue.
It prevents the SP cap from being a mechanic that forces you to play every week or lose out - it stops punishing you for taking a break, going on holiday, etc. It stops things being so grindy as people are forced to grind out the SP each week.
It was voted on for a landslide victory in January, and promised to us 'in the next update'. Please make it happen.
It does have the problem of boosters being used to do things like super back to back grind sessions to cut down on the value of booster needed, but that tends to happen anyway. You could have SP trickle into the active pool much like passive SP over time, without a limit on it - when a booster is plugged in, keep the trickle the same but have an additional 'bonus' pool, for example.
In its current form though, the SP cap is a grind inducing and restrictive mechanic - whilst it should be restrictive in some ways, it shouldn't make people effectively lose SP if they fail to cap out in the weekly grind.

Simple enough solution is that if the Active Booster is not fully utilized throughout the week it's effects get nullified, creating incentive TO hit the cap but it's not entirely necessary. It works this way currently, whereas if you're not earning SP throughout the week you don't get the bonus - so there's nothing to be gained or lost there. With the rollover, you'd essentially be missing out on the 50%/100% extra SP but would have the opportunity to gain the SP from the previous week's cap.

Don't expect this any sooner than a year or so from now, CCP is still working on the other things that they told us would be "next update" from over a year ago. I agree this needs to happen, and would like to take a good break to maybe watch a movie or something, but that silly daily SP bonus never gets higher than 6k sp and for some reason it drops to 0 sp when I do take a day off.

I don't expect it, but I really, really want it. Honestly, the SP system is such a pain right now I'd happily forgo other things to get rollover.

Even with EVE/Dust being my primary gaming I've logged less than 20 hours in the past 2 months because I just don't have time to game lately. I've been lucky to have both types of Omega Booster as a way to mitigate the SP loss by not being able to play every week - and honestly SP loss is exactly what it is - but for those who don't or who are newer to the game, or both, this present system is increadibly painful.
Furthermore a pool/rollover system was proposed/"promised" by CCP prior to this and I'm a bit baffled as to why we're not even getting updates on the iterations regarding that system. It is purportedly coming, it's a core game feature, and we're not being kept in the loop. That seems a bit to me [Disclaimer: I may have missed an update in my absence, if I have someone please link me so I can edit this post to properly reflect the current state of events. Thanks ]

No updates on it.
Apparently, rollover SP was a pet project of CCP Nothin, who hasn't been with CCP for a while now. There was a weekly feedback section saying it wasn't planned sometime in August.
The CPM brought it back up in a meeting yesterday apparently and are trying to establish it as a priority, hence Nova's thread on the topic (which I believe you posted in).

Well at least I'm up to date, thanks for the info Now if we can get some more action on the issue, because honestly having a more restrictive skill advancement system within the fps side of New Eden than within EVE seems 'odd' to me, and that's what the current situation creates.

CCP Nothin wrote:Active boosters simply multiply the number of skill points you receive at the end of each battle. As such, you are better off activating them when your pool of battle skill points is full (e.g. at the beginning of each weekly cycle). If you play a lot, you might be better off with a shorter (e.g. 3-day) active booster as it will allow you to earn bulk of the extra SP by playing a lot while it is active. If you prefer a more casual style of play, you might prefer to have the boost active throughout and have the freedom to spread your play over more days without worrying about it too much.
Now, in regard to the weekly skill cap and the implications of it:
We acknowledge that the current implementation of the skill cap still isn't quite there yet. It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle.
The Ellecon's come from a long line of Gallente. Tarn chose Peace. Tallen chose war.

Came from January, outdated. Also contradicted by the more recent weekly update in August. CCP Nothin is also no longer with CCP.
