This post is directed at all the plasma cannon users.'
How would you feel if the plasma cannon could hold a charge?
Would it be a PLUS?
Would it help towards making it a viable weapon?
How would it affect your play style?

It would make it an easier weapon to use but i could easily see people begging for a nerf as proto stompers go "ham" with a light forge gun. |

It'd be kinda cool but I think I would hate it.
That .45 seconds before a shot is the longest time of my life and I want that shot to happen RIGHT NOW!
Maybe a Breach Variant could have this but acts like a cluster bomb as well.

I skilled an alt character into plasma guns, just to see why I was told "never ever ever do that".
45 frustrating minutes later....
The damned thing should just shoot. You get ONE shot, you have to arc it, you have minimal splash, takes forever to reload, you don't carry that much ammo....FIRE DAMN YOU FIRE NOW!
Not sure that holding a charge would really help. |

A charge would help greatly.
Wouldn't have to rely on predicting enemy motion nearly as long.

I think it should just work like a RPG, but with a twist. Hit target straight, faster travel speed, no charge up, and long reload speed.
The animation could still be an arc (like in EVE), but it should hit where you aim.
The plasma cannon shoul fire arcing lighning, not this cotton ball/spud we have now. It should require LOS for your arc to even hit your target. If the arc is occluded it deals no damage to the target. Lightning has the property of surging into the ground around the hit site, so the splash damage still applies IMO.
The plasma cannon should also get a more Bzzzzzzt-like sound for extra awesomeness.

I remember the first time i was killed with one it was after i had been playing for 4 months and i was like. Wtf? plasma cannon? Is that a vehicle weapon? I swear i didnt see any tanks near me.
I think in total i have been killed 4x by a plasma cannon. Honestly when i am killed by one i am not upset at all its almost an honor... almost :) |

I think all it needs is for it's round to travel as fast as the forge guns really.
If Preparation is half of the battle and knowing is the other half, Then there is no need to fight.

I don't see a need for the Plasma Cannon in DUST, same as the Sniper.
People can use them, but they are strictly for fun, not effectiveness.
I think ambushing players with a "charged" PC shot would be fun though |

Could be a similar variant to FG, chargeless does more damage and charge has less damage but can charge. |

I think the pc should shoot like a sr the longer you hold the charge the more plasma it shoots. It also need a slight buff to reload and projectile speed. It should always be high damage with a low rof and not a mass driver. |
