Yea because someone can't possibly just speak in a "matter of fact" tone when someone express a idea, thought, or feeling. Smh.
Is it too hard to understand that 90 percent of my post really had nothing to do with your OP and reading the OP generated a platform for me to express rant about the experience today?

Honestly, its a little up in the air at the moment. There's a significant amount of players who left. Ahem, let me rephrase that. There's a significant amount of intelligent players who left. Leaving the last good players with dumb blueberries. You can't even have solo ISK farming runs thanks to Nyain San and the protos on Ambush.
And for the love of god, please stop dropping uplinks down on Ambush!! It's stupid and does nothing, really, to assist the team. You are just creating bonafide spawn camp locations. CCP should give you the option to spawn on their regular spawn points if you don't want to spawn on a dropped uplink
Just read the two post again man, are you that special? Seriously. what the **** is your deal man? You're a ******* dumb ass.
No you are, iv stated a very common problem concerning new player experience. Stated the excellent points of dust and the bad points. Its that simple and if you don't like it then tough sht as its feedback for CCP.
You and your kind of stupidity can keep bumping my thread. Good night.

Its all great but the gameplay let him down and they were good matches. I played 3 good skirmishes and I'm a logi so he saw more than just killing, I offered him a go and he wasn't interested, everything is great except the gameplay. Personally I love dust like a fool but it has to change somehow, I don't know how at the mo but it does. But how much can he know about a game without playing it? Watching someone play and actually experiencing it are two different things. What if he had looked at the specialization, corp stuff, fittings etc and told he thought it looked rubbish, but then had a five minute ambush match and thought DUST was the best game ever? I'm not dissing your friend, but his opinion as an outsider seems somewhat flawed, having had no experience of playing the game. I think chocolate bars look like little poos, but I still eat them!
His opinion as an outsider is valid. And i'm sure MANY others feel the same way. If a game doesn't look fun, people won't bother to play it. It's a simple fact that HAS to be taken into account. |

I have to agree with him. An outsider's view is important after all. When you look at a game nowadays, what's the first thing you look at? You see if it's your cup of tea. Often times that means trying it out but other times it involves watching others try it out.
For example:
My friend lend me copy of Defiance back when it first released, which was about near the end of last year I believe. After spending a good hour trying it out, exploring the terrain, looking at the graphics, the interface, the customization, the mechanics, the whole setup, etc. I decided that I didn't like it and then gave the copy back to my friend.
The graphics were terrible, but I would have let that part slide had it not been for the awkward mechanics (such as the running) and extremely-dumb AI that I was up against. Much of it felt far too linear and I didn't like the control layout.
Of course, I didn't have any understanding on what the developers were trying to achieve and I didn't know anything about the developers themselves. That's also why I stuck with Dust 514 because I have known the developers since 2008 and I have seen how they operated and what their goals are. I have also experienced the culture of Eve Online which obviously had direct influence on my decision there.
Just like the OP, I have some friends who may see me as foolish for having faith in this game, but thankfully I have the patience of a Buddhist Monk and it takes a lot for me to convince me otherwise. Of course, there were a couple of instances where CCP nearly got that far. Most notably this week with the nova knife screw up (waiting for that hot fix).
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

Yey, someone who gets it also. My point is as valid as it gets, he was excited about dust as well but he did say 'I'll come back when its worth playing' and I'm still buying him a ps3 for xmas just so he can create a char to accrue passive sp.
Just imagine for a second that I didn't have 21million sp and was a newb experiencing the game for the first time and showing him, he would have thought waaaaaaay worse.

Nice assumption, try Atari and doom 95. Can you read? Can you? Can you think outside of yourself for a second? When I read your post about your friend's experience, it had me thinking about the experience as a whole for any player. Which opened up the door for my semi rant. The only thing about my post that was a comment to yours, was about the Halo comparison. Other than that, I just dropped my two cents about the experience now with Dust.
Sorry I completely missed this post I am very sorry. The gameplay reminded him too much of halo, he loved everything about it, everything but the gsmeplay, no amount of me telling him to get involved in the social aspect will make a difference, its not unique and very limited in dust.
Ps my Atari is my uncles, I'm not quite that old lol. Atari games are the hardest of all time lol.
