So I make a point to squad with randoms every now and then just to see how the average person is dealing with the game. I am always surprised when I hear someone say something like "I'm just about to get to my goal of having 200 of my proto light scout suits" or something.
My question is, what makes you want a stack of something? Stockpiling dropsuits/modules/complete fittings/vehicles etc, does nothing for you IMO. All it does is commit you to using that whole stack before spending your money on something else to further experiment. If anything, it probably commits you to a playstyle that may not really be optimal to what you have to deal with. Furthermore, you will probably become more dissappointed with your choices to stockpile if you DO choose the wrong thing, because at that point, your investment is a suck cost with a crappy return.
So why are you all such pack rats? |

Would you rather buy 1 suit and have to constantly restock every time you die?..or would you rather be prepared and dominate those tiny little ant-...i mean fine gentlemen

I don't like to restock often. But I only buy large amounts of the items in fittings I know I use a lot. If I make a new fit or try something new I just keep a few around until I am sure it deserves a place in my armory. |

I buy my grind fits in sets of 50 but 200 proto lights :D
Serious fittings are held at 10 and restocked back to 10 after losses occur.

I keep 100 of my fitted protosuits because I like seeing a big number and it makes me feel prepared. It means that I can also go days/weeks without restocking.

You need ISK to play the game
You need dropsuits to play the game.
Therefore we buy and stockpile dropsuits. Once we have a nice stack we can stock up on another fit without neglecting our main fit because we already have a healthy supply.
It's called head-room. I have over 600 logi suits. aiming for 1000.

I buy massive stacks of everything, but I don't run proto suits or weapons (only the occasional piece of equipment or module), so it's not a big deal, financially.
Thinking of those stacks of gear as a personal accomplishment, though...no, I don't get that. |

I have all 30 of my fitting slots used. I use a few different kinds of fittings each match depending on how things are going. It takes less than 30 seconds for me to restore all of my used suits to 10 or more for each match. I just select the fitting, then select restock, then I'm good. |

I can answer this. I use my BPO gear in pubs, then use my ISK to stockpile for proto when I get into PC.
Right now I'm at 150 Assault ck 0's, 150 Duvolles, complex mods, etc. I do it because no one knows when the marketplace is coming, and seems like a good idea to stock up just in case. |

Yeah, this is pretty much the rationale that appears to be happening here...It's along the lines of, "What is better than a game's worth of logi suits? 50 GAMES WORTH OF LOGI SUITS!" But you can only play one game at a time, and rarely have less than 30 seconds between matches. |

...Still irrational, IMO. They will announce well ahead of time when it is coming. Until it comes, prices wont change. If prices do change it is unlikely that stockpiles will have a huge impact, and it would be more than likely that your stockpiles would just be re-liquidated into isk. |

just cause I decided to run nothing but proto for the time being...and isk is not a problem...

Another way I see your stockpiling reasoning as backward is its kind of like you are giving yourself permission to just blow a TON of stuff all at once. That is only the case if your stockpile is for your grindy suits. If you have only like 10 of each fitting at a time, and then set a goal to grow your wallet by x million per week, then you will more likely pay attention to the bottom line AND performance. |

Like you individually go inside of each fitting, and separately select each module/weapon and make a purchase? This seems more complicated than necessary...you know you can just select the fitting and restock? |

Yup, I only buy modules in chunks of 100's as well. So certain things like shield extenders and damage mods go quick because I have a lot of high slots. No point in buying a 150k fully fit suit when all you need are a stack of damage mods.

I also buy everything in bulk. When you have 50+ million, it makes it easy. Even my proto heavy suit has like 59 fits left before I have to restock. Some of my modules I buy 2-300 at a time. |

Things like Armor Plates and Damage Modifiers I rarely equip singularly. They're also used across multiple fits and multiple dropsuits. So I pick them up in lots of 100 or more. I have a stockpile of about 300 Basic Armor Plates, for example. It may last me a few weeks, but I don't have to worry about them.
Items I use less often are picked up in smaller lots of 10 or 20. |
