As long as there's a way to craft an RSS feed for dust devposts only, I'm okay with anything :)

When creating arrays of data it is often easier to merge two or more arrays by making an array of arrays. So if you have: ArrayX([ ][ ]) which is 2 dimensional and want to compare it to ArrayY[ ][ ] you can make ArrayZ([ ArrayX ] [ ArrayY ]). What this does is produces references within the ArrayZ( [ ] [ ]) so that it can be found and referenced from the new array. So in this case perhaps a new D-base that references both sides locally to the individual originally separate forum posts rather than the wrong one.
To access all the posts you would require the ID of the data set. So for accessing ArrayX([2][6]) you would use ArrayZ(0(2,6)).
Hope this helps,
DC

This would also be a massive benefit for, say, EVE players trying to sell Templar gear to DUSTers, or DUST players trying to buy it from EVE players.
A lot of hijinks ensued trying to line those deals up.
Please do it, CCP. I would love to see the rage from a Ground Pounder posting in the Ships and Modules forum, as well.

CCP raRaRa wrote:Technically having a shared forum is possible. Another possibility is having the EVE and DUST forums separated but with shared forum channels. The biggest challenge would be merging the EVE and DUST forum databases into one. Merging the databases will cause conflict between several database tables of which could take some time to solve properly. For instance, one potential problem would be the conflict with Message IDs. Note the m=1515684 on the links below, they both point to the same Message ID but it's a different message depending on if you're on the EVE or DUST forum. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1515684https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1515684Now let's assume I would merge the DUST forum database to the EVE forum database. That would mean that all external links to messages on the EVE forums would still work, but external links to the DUST forums would break, since they'd now point to some Message ID that already existed on the EVE forums. I have some ideas to solve the ID conflict, but like I said it could take some time. The possibility is definitely there, but I haven't been given the green light to work on this. I'll check the status with CCP Alice soon.
I say that we start small and work our way outward. Maybe integrating the less used channels such as the Intergalactic Summit as there is less activity. This could have a very meaningful impact as well as both of the role-playing channels would be combined and further not only the integration of the two but the immersion as topics are viewed by both Dust mercenaries and Capsuleers.
Is there anyway for message IDs to be categorized into a sub-category? A 'legacy' message ID, so to speak, that would link to the proper post before the integration based on the sub-category?

I really like this idea. I hope some consideration could be made to binding Dust characters to EVE characters or at least allowing an EVE char to be flagged as playing Dust as well (and vice versa), otherwise certain posts will be written off by one community as "having no idea what he's talking about" simply because he's an EVE or Dust player.
General Tso's Alliance: If we could earn bombardments from the EVE-side, we'd show the gaming world Dust's potential.

I don't think it would be wise to flag a player as playing Eve as well as Dust. Currently Alts are unknown without actually doing homework and checking. Anonymity of who or that their is an alt can be a big advantage in some situations and because of this it seems like a bad idea to indicate their is an alt. I know I have mentioned several times on these forums that I play both games but there is a calculated risk of being listened to by people who would otherwise tell you that they don't think your idea has any merit because it is not like the other game though clearly (if they played it, it is) for instance in this thread (post #7).
