Don't be so sure ...i just looking at Dust 514 history since the beginning of the open beta..it is a potential 20,000 players waiting in the shadows, and CCP knows exactly what it will take. They just don't want to do it yet.. and i bet you anything it have something to do with Sony and the PS4. I think you misunderstood me sir. My bet is: over 6k active mercs in a year. Your bet is 20k active mercs by the end of 2014 (if so, i win 20k is way over 6k ) or NONE (if so, you win but what's the point of that win ). What's your say on this?
if it is over 6k we both win ... If it is none i win, but since you can't give me the clone pack you don't lose anything, so i don't really win, but i'm not losing neither... because i practically won.

But technically we can't take bet with each other if we are both on the same side of it... If it's over 6k i will win first. You will have to wait some more for 20k And since i win the bet is over. That's in case DUST swims ofc... |

just saying.
You could only have based this on either.
A. Feeling B. Others feelings C. You just made it up because your sht and feel the need to project your opinion as fact.

BUT... 2014 doesn't ends to 2015, so you can't win the bet to we are in 2015. Of course.... if it is none, is not point on waiting to 2015, because i win anyway... i just don't getting the victory price. |

How many players have lowered the amount they play DUST? How much of those numbers are players just logging in to collect their daily bonus?
I know many who have given up on DUST and some who are willing to come back once CCP implements more content such as racial heavies. Yes, CCP can boost player count but they need to have something exciting for any chance of vets coming back. They are moving in the right direction with changes to FW and PC but it all depends on how fast they can get those out. As IWS said, the PS4 will be the true test to see how many people leave as many who buy the new console wont keep their PS3 or will rarely use it. Once vehicles are done, this game should be in a decent state of balance (hopefully. At that point, their focus needs to be on content and expanding the depth of the game. a person that gets the point in dust forums? how did this happen? oh, i get the point... CCP is just waiting at the moment.. not hard to see. Lets just hope they don't wait to long ... this train is moving fast.
CCP has been playing it safe every since launch. Sure, people love new content such as a weapon here and there and some new suits but you will still be playing the same game modes against the same number of enemy for the same rewards no matter what. The creative director needs to take a chance here and there and bet big on something. Yes, it might fail but it could also get people excited about this game again.
I look at it this way: I enjoy logging on now and again and pew pew'ing with my clan but there is nothing that is really keeping me here. I just have not seen a game that peaks my interest yet. However, I see a couple on the horizon (mainly Destiny and The Division) that I am quite interested in. If those games live up to their hype then I definitely see my play time dropping yet again. I used to be able to cap out 2 to 3 toons in a given week. Now I barely cap one and dont really feel bad if I fail in that.

Explain how its even possible to fail please, the way dust has been created makes it pretty much impossible to fail, one good factor is that the didn't nor will bthey ever have to put it on disc, that's millions saved right there, where is the profit loss? How is that possible? Its not. |

Jack McReady wrote:oh really we have player spikes at weekends? who would guess that happens. average, that is what counts in 5 months dust lost around ~3k players and the drop was steady. the recent rise is just well within the regular deviation, like it was in the past 5 months. but I guess basic logic, statistics over 5 months and averages is too hard to comprehend for some people :)
There hasn't been enough time to see the new player average, all im stating is that it seems the dip has bottomed out as indicated by the fact that the weekly peaking average was below what this past weeks peak was at. Contrary to what you seem to believe I do understand how graphs and statistics work...... I brought up the EVE/Dust stats website to disprove people who claimed we've "been losing 500 players per month" which just simply isn't the case. Sure, if you want to average out the players weve lost since the game was released then it might be around 500 per month. But the current rate of decline is....... well currently its not declining anymore. Which was all that statement was meant to prove. And by currently I mean the past month of recorded player activity. Which, if you consider the game was only released about six months ago isn't a bad data cut out....... |

just saying. They are just taking a break...They will be back soon. You'll see. Here is a sound explanation of the phenomena from EVE forums: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3744036#post3744036(BTW, You can see my "face" in the previous post there )
I'm gone, but I still come back to the forums to see if the game has improved.
It hasn't. I'm still not playing (or paying). No, I'm not taking a break.
I'm waiting for PVE to come, some meaningful link to Eve, and the AR to be nerfed into a niche weapon like all other Dust weapons.
Assuming that happens, and I'm still interested, I'll be back. Short of that I won't.
I think it's reasons like mine that people are leaving. They aren't taking a break unless you mean a permanent break. |

I don't think the AR was meant to be a niche weapon though...... I was pretty sure the AR was meant to be an all rounder. Just less good at the extremes. ie: LR is better at long range then the AR, SMG is better close range then AR.
But as for PVE...... yes I want that too. |

Keeping the game on a dying console gen is not doom and gloom speculation, it's a prediction that will become a reality.
Yea the PS3 has a huge playerbase, but with that comes the limitations of the console itself. DUST won't be able to increase player count by much more, as it is the game is pushing its limits, and will get better over time with optimization... but time isn't a luxury that DUST has on PS3.
The game is doomed on the PS3, but if the faster it gets on PS4, the better. |

I agree that the game will die if it doesn't make the jump to PS4. But its got at least another two years of life on this console, and im willing to wait it out and see how it goes. I don't think CCP has reached any limits, they just haven't optimized the game enough for it to function perfectly. And that's to be expected because they've never developed on a console before the PS3.
The same happened to naughty dog back when the PS3 came out. HUGE developmental issues because the staff had to make the transition from a PS2 to a PS3 which works completely differently on a hardware level.
This game will be ported to PS4 eventually man...... its not a question of weather it will happen or not, just a question of WHEN it will happen. And I really don't think there going to do it until its obvious that PS4 has more active players then the PS3. (which it wont for a long time......) I mean...... it took sony over 5 years to sell 80million PS3 units. 5 years. How long will it take to sell the equivalent in PS4s? Not as long probably, but its still going to take in the order of years. So as far as im concerned CCP has time to do what they need to do.
The only marketing thing I think CCP messed up on was the fact that DUST wont already be downloaded and installed on every new PS4 that's sold. But I imagine that would be expensive (and impossible now) to do, not to mention the fact that the game isn't finished and they know it isn't. Why force people to play a game like that? Not worth it...... This goes back to people saying "they should have never released the game so early" but honestly the only difference between the release and the OPEN beta was that reviewers could put reviews on it. Not much else. But who knows. Im basically just ranting now. |

They would have to be dumb as fk to release it on ps4 just so people whine a bit more and problems with ps4 have yet to manifest themselves, they would actually lose a lot of players releasing it on ps4 too quickly. |
