I see a lot of people coming on to the forums to rant about why this game is dead and why its never going to succeed and why it was all a huge waste of time.
1.) Why do you come on the forums then? 2.) nobody knows the future..... not even the conductors of the doom train fleet. 3.) This game is nowhere near dying, you just have to obtain the ability to pull your heads out of your asses long enough to see it.
To emphasize my point ill pull a quote of my own that I used in a different thread.
Quote:The game has only seen tangible developmental progress for around a year now. Your crazy to assume a game like this wont improve over time. Right now its all about optimization. Glitches and performance will work out over time as the developers...... develop it...... (and get better at using the hardware). I mean...... have you looked at GTA5? That game is a technological masterpiece, and if Rockstar can pull it off, so can CCP.
You just think "ohhhhh the game has had at least one problem or another for the last several months so it will never ever improve" but let me tell you, if you were to compare this game to the Pre-e3 build (replication, I think?) then you would understand that the game then, and the game now is vastly improved, and I have no doubt that it will look the same way comparatively six months from now.
Just a little faith people. A little faith, and a little patience and it wall all get better eventually!
So many people are wrapped up in the heres and nows. "omg this X feature in the game pisses me off right now" "this X amount of content isn't out yet"
You guys want to know something about history? Stalin didn't like how the allies took so long to launch the invasion on western Europe while in the meantime he was losing soldiers in the order of millions. But you know what? Everything went alright in the end! The axis powers lost the war, and Russia became a new world power. Same things going to happen with this game. We don't like the wait, or dealing with the problems the game has right now, but comparatively with older builds (1.1,1.2,1.3) the game is really starting to shape up and I just don't understand how you people aren't able to see that.
CCP isn't the son of god. There not going to turn water into wine. But if you give them enough time I fully believe that this game will turn from being an average shooter, to an above average MMOFPS.
In the meantime....... I want to point out that back in chromosome I used to walk around like THIS with my LR. Now its more like........ well I just shoot and kill things now. (thanks to whoever found this video on another post, it truly was amazing). |

If I had money I would play EVE on top of playing Dust. Sometimes you just want to play one more then the other. Unfortunately I have no feasible way to play EVE long enough to allow my character to Plex on its own. |

That's a shame; funny this came up, cause 2 days ago, I emptied my old character's isk account into a brand new character, just so that I could start from scratch and do something in EVE that I haven't done before, but without giving my new character too much money to start with (otherwise it would get boring). Well, my old character had about 7 billion isk saved up that I made when Incursions were OP for isk sinks, and that was when I quit.
Well, that 7 billion bought me over 10 months of "free" game time to use on a character and start anew in New Eden (each plex was about 660 mill isk, but to restart everything, a fresh history, and a fresh character and being poor/new in EVE is something I want to try again).
I think 10 months of time is going to rock, since I won't have to worry about using a subscription until then (or if I make a lot of money by then [which I probably will], I'll just keep PLEXing my account) |

LOL... you really are in denial... CCP have been trying to crack the Core game-play for nearly a year, and we still no where near to a solid foundation. Every time they try to climb out of the hole, they dig they self a bit deeper.
They are trap in a circle in which they are not allow to develop the game to the core mechanics are perfect ....Because they simply scare stiff of their own community.
I love Dust 514.... but... BUT......i'm definitely not in denial of the future of this game.

It's not a reality, it's a deliberate misinterpretation of player counts.
http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust
We hit 4500 this weekend. In June, the player counts were at approximately that level. Is that losing 500 players per month? If we really were, we'd be down to 2000 by now, yet we're hitting twice that.
You're wrong. Just saying. |

How do you have a "right" to complain about player count? Leave player counts for CCP to deal with. Also if you use THIS link, you might notice that player count has improved a few hundred comparatively to the stats given a month ago. And if you look about 2 months ago you'll notice that at peak times the player count has only dropped by 200....... not 500. Hell, if you take the low points into account it looks even healthier. So I really have no idea where this "500 per month" figure is coming from unless your referring to 1.1,1.2,1.3.
You come on and say "oh were losing 500 players per month" when in reality we lost the initial rift raft that was around during open beta. Statistically it looks like the player count is actually plateauing right now. So yeah...... you can "just say" whatever you want to say sure, but maybe next time you should get some actual stats to back it up. Or at least stats that aren't outdated.....

........ again. If you were to compare this to chromosome or replication. The game is much improved now. Lets say CCP is still underwater and the gameplay is still horrible (which it isn't). Well GOOD JOB CCP, you guys just managed to climb out of challenger deep! "applauds" |

in 5 months dust lost around ~3k players and the drop was steady. the recent rise is just well within the regular deviation, like it was in the past 5 months. but I guess basic logic, statistics over 5 months and averages is too hard to comprehend for some people :) |

One thing that you cant get from things such as EVE Offline is how often players log in and actually play.
How many players have lowered the amount they play DUST? How much of those numbers are players just logging in to collect their daily bonus?
I know many who have given up on DUST and some who are willing to come back once CCP implements more content such as racial heavies. Yes, CCP can boost player count but they need to have something exciting for any chance of vets coming back. They are moving in the right direction with changes to FW and PC but it all depends on how fast they can get those out. As IWS said, the PS4 will be the true test to see how many people leave as many who buy the new console wont keep their PS3 or will rarely use it. Once vehicles are done, this game should be in a decent state of balance (hopefully. At that point, their focus needs to be on content and expanding the depth of the game. |

It's not that they are scared stiff of the community,it's that they are incompetent of making a shooter that is better than passable at it's core gameplay mechanics.
A person would actually be able to defend CCP,but since it's been well over a year and the game still feels like a third rate shooter in it's over all gameplay, there's just isn't any defense for that.
People complain because we want to put a real fire under the asses of the devs to make a game that everyone can enjoy.Part of that enjoyment for me is to be in a gaming universe that consists of more that 3,500 people at a time...and falling. |
