I see a lot of people coming on to the forums to rant about why this game is dead and why its never going to succeed and why it was all a huge waste of time.
1.) Why do you come on the forums then? 2.) nobody knows the future..... not even the conductors of the doom train fleet. 3.) This game is nowhere near dying, you just have to obtain the ability to pull your heads out of your asses long enough to see it.
To emphasize my point ill pull a quote of my own that I used in a different thread.
Quote:The game has only seen tangible developmental progress for around a year now. Your crazy to assume a game like this wont improve over time. Right now its all about optimization. Glitches and performance will work out over time as the developers...... develop it...... (and get better at using the hardware). I mean...... have you looked at GTA5? That game is a technological masterpiece, and if Rockstar can pull it off, so can CCP.
You just think "ohhhhh the game has had at least one problem or another for the last several months so it will never ever improve" but let me tell you, if you were to compare this game to the Pre-e3 build (replication, I think?) then you would understand that the game then, and the game now is vastly improved, and I have no doubt that it will look the same way comparatively six months from now.
Just a little faith people. A little faith, and a little patience and it wall all get better eventually!
So many people are wrapped up in the heres and nows. "omg this X feature in the game pisses me off right now" "this X amount of content isn't out yet"
You guys want to know something about history? Stalin didn't like how the allies took so long to launch the invasion on western Europe while in the meantime he was losing soldiers in the order of millions. But you know what? Everything went alright in the end! The axis powers lost the war, and Russia became a new world power. Same things going to happen with this game. We don't like the wait, or dealing with the problems the game has right now, but comparatively with older builds (1.1,1.2,1.3) the game is really starting to shape up and I just don't understand how you people aren't able to see that.
CCP isn't the son of god. There not going to turn water into wine. But if you give them enough time I fully believe that this game will turn from being an average shooter, to an above average MMOFPS.
In the meantime....... I want to point out that back in chromosome I used to walk around like THIS with my LR. Now its more like........ well I just shoot and kill things now. (thanks to whoever found this video on another post, it truly was amazing). |

Filler for a part to upgrade my PC. I find the game ok, just want to jump ship to a new platform.
Meh. Be gloomy. WFE.
If I had money I would play EVE on top of playing Dust. Sometimes you just want to play one more then the other. Unfortunately I have no feasible way to play EVE long enough to allow my character to Plex on its own. |

Jack McReady wrote:500 players leaving per month is not just a "doom and gloom train", it is reality and the players have all right to complain about the cause.
just saying.
How do you have a "right" to complain about player count? Leave player counts for CCP to deal with. Also if you use THIS link, you might notice that player count has improved a few hundred comparatively to the stats given a month ago. And if you look about 2 months ago you'll notice that at peak times the player count has only dropped by 200....... not 500. Hell, if you take the low points into account it looks even healthier. So I really have no idea where this "500 per month" figure is coming from unless your referring to 1.1,1.2,1.3.
You come on and say "oh were losing 500 players per month" when in reality we lost the initial rift raft that was around during open beta. Statistically it looks like the player count is actually plateauing right now. So yeah...... you can "just say" whatever you want to say sure, but maybe next time you should get some actual stats to back it up. Or at least stats that aren't outdated.....

Banning Hammer wrote:LOL... you really are in denial... CCP have been trying to crack the Core game-play for nearly a year, and we still no where near to a solid foundation. Every time they try to climb out of the hole, they dig their self a bit deeper.
They are trap in a circle in which they are not allow to develop the game to the core mechanics are perfect ....Because they simply scare stiff of their own community.
I love Dust 514.... but... BUT......i'm definitely not in denial about the future of this game.
........ again. If you were to compare this to chromosome or replication. The game is much improved now. Lets say CCP is still underwater and the gameplay is still horrible (which it isn't). Well GOOD JOB CCP, you guys just managed to climb out of challenger deep! "applauds" |

Jack McReady wrote:oh really we have player spikes at weekends? who would guess that happens. average, that is what counts in 5 months dust lost around ~3k players and the drop was steady. the recent rise is just well within the regular deviation, like it was in the past 5 months. but I guess basic logic, statistics over 5 months and averages is too hard to comprehend for some people :)
There hasn't been enough time to see the new player average, all im stating is that it seems the dip has bottomed out as indicated by the fact that the weekly peaking average was below what this past weeks peak was at. Contrary to what you seem to believe I do understand how graphs and statistics work...... I brought up the EVE/Dust stats website to disprove people who claimed we've "been losing 500 players per month" which just simply isn't the case. Sure, if you want to average out the players weve lost since the game was released then it might be around 500 per month. But the current rate of decline is....... well currently its not declining anymore. Which was all that statement was meant to prove. And by currently I mean the past month of recorded player activity. Which, if you consider the game was only released about six months ago isn't a bad data cut out....... |

just saying. They are just taking a break...They will be back soon. You'll see. Here is a sound explanation of the phenomena from EVE forums: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3744036#post3744036(BTW, You can see my "face" in the previous post there ) I'm gone, but I still come back to the forums to see if the game has improved. It hasn't. I'm still not playing (or paying). No, I'm not taking a break. I'm waiting for PVE to come, some meaningful link to Eve, and the AR to be nerfed into a niche weapon like all other Dust weapons. Assuming that happens, and I'm still interested, I'll be back. Short of that I won't. I think it's reasons like mine that people are leaving. They aren't taking a break unless you mean a permanent break.
I don't think the AR was meant to be a niche weapon though...... I was pretty sure the AR was meant to be an all rounder. Just less good at the extremes. ie: LR is better at long range then the AR, SMG is better close range then AR.
But as for PVE...... yes I want that too. |

Lance 2ballzStrong wrote:Keeping the game on a dying console gen is not doom and gloom speculation, it's a prediction that will become a reality.
Yea the PS3 has a huge playerbase, but with that comes the limitations of the console itself. DUST won't be able to increase player count by much more, as it is the game is pushing its limits, and will get better over time with optimization... but time isn't a luxury that DUST has on PS3.
The game is doomed on the PS3, but if the faster it gets on PS4, the better.
I agree that the game will die if it doesn't make the jump to PS4. But its got at least another two years of life on this console, and im willing to wait it out and see how it goes. I don't think CCP has reached any limits, they just haven't optimized the game enough for it to function perfectly. And that's to be expected because they've never developed on a console before the PS3.
The same happened to naughty dog back when the PS3 came out. HUGE developmental issues because the staff had to make the transition from a PS2 to a PS3 which works completely differently on a hardware level.
This game will be ported to PS4 eventually man...... its not a question of weather it will happen or not, just a question of WHEN it will happen. And I really don't think there going to do it until its obvious that PS4 has more active players then the PS3. (which it wont for a long time......) I mean...... it took sony over 5 years to sell 80million PS3 units. 5 years. How long will it take to sell the equivalent in PS4s? Not as long probably, but its still going to take in the order of years. So as far as im concerned CCP has time to do what they need to do.
The only marketing thing I think CCP messed up on was the fact that DUST wont already be downloaded and installed on every new PS4 that's sold. But I imagine that would be expensive (and impossible now) to do, not to mention the fact that the game isn't finished and they know it isn't. Why force people to play a game like that? Not worth it...... This goes back to people saying "they should have never released the game so early" but honestly the only difference between the release and the OPEN beta was that reviewers could put reviews on it. Not much else. But who knows. Im basically just ranting now. |
