I came in the forums the other day and I saw that there was a thread about what was your longest plasma cannon kill. Having not done a video in a while that gave me the idea to take one day and record medium to long range kills with my plasma cannon. The clips in the video are one day of plasma cannon usage. I hope you guys enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoy Doing it.
Also I want to give a shout out to every DEVOTED plasma cannon user and those in the Cannon Fever channel; YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME.
Remember people; BREAK THE META. I hate seeing the same things in battle over and over again.
NEW VIDEO:

Informational videos:
- Plasma Cannon Damage, stacking penalties and moreNEW
- Plasma Cannon: An introduction

The Plasma Cannon is a great weapon if you've got the skills and are fully specced into it with mods. It's just that most players cannot acquire said skills, don't want to acquire said skills, or don't want to sink the SP. Of course, the bullet moves slow as all hell, which makes it easy to evade when you know it's coming. Whenever I die to a PC, it's because I didn't know what was coming... |

The Plasma Cannon may be the hardest weapons to get a long range kill with. The fact the projectile is so slow that your target can unknowingly change direction because he felt like it will make your shots miss. To be good with it at long ranges you must
- Have a good feel for the weapon
- Know the relative place where your opponent will be in 1, 2 or even 3 seconds after you fire
- Know where your opponent is most likely to run to ( This part is mostly intuition and player trends knowledge )
A small instructional video will be coming out to help beginners with long range plasma Canon shots. |

Actually, the projectile velocity got a buff recently... so is a bit of medium range glorified shotgun now. Still sucks as an AV, which supposed to be one of it main functions. |

Just the basic Plasma Cannon is needed for those OHK. The tankiest of heavies can withstand it though, so further SP investment is up to you, but the results won't get miraculously better. I encourage everyone to give it a go; it's fun and doesn't need heavy SP investments. |

I would love an assault variant that always has the charging animation, turning screws, on. I hate being melted by assault rifles in the .45 seconds it takes me to charge it when using some of my less than tanky suits.
I would guess it needing an extra level to use it would not hurt. Basically it's the same weapon but without the charge time requiring 1 extra skill level to use.
The weapon in itself shoots every 4.10 seconds without skills and very 4 with maxed sills (no rapid reload taken into account since most people dont bother with it ). By making an assault variant that has no charge time you effectively raise the potential of the weapon without making it more powerful and possible breaking it.
EXAMPLE:
- Plasma cannon: PLC operation level 1
- Assault Plasma Cannon - PLC operation level 2
- KLA-90 plasma cannon PLC operation level 3
- KLA-90 assault plasma cannon PLC operation level 4
- Allotek plasma Cannon - PLC operation level 5
- Allotek assault plasma cxannon - PLC proficiency level 1

I've been waiting for the burst variant myself. 2 round burst, takes 1.5 seconds to charge, but each uhh...bolt? does ~60% of the normal Plasma Cannon damage with smaller splash radius since we don't want another Flaylock Era. It'll make the Ammo Skill actually mean something then. |

Ahh yes the recoil animation... Makes the weapon the slowest f all the weapon in the game. Even the Forge gun can pop round faster than the plasma cannon. But hey, I'm not complaining. Having the weapon as is is the only way it won't become a scrub weapon. The moment I see NYAN SAN using the plasma Cannon after some type of update is the moment I will stop using the weapon. Whenever I see them In a sqaud they all have the same gear and weapons and thats when I know a weapon became FOTM. |

I actually enjoy the ammo skill. Having one extra shot per level really does the trick. At level three I usually don't find myself without ammo since the weapons true RoF is it's own anti spam detterent.
Also If burst ever came out I would love for it to be a proto weapon requiring spec 3 and the damage to be 60% of the proto variant and not the strd variant. |

I have no idea to be hones. It's the first time I've actually heard about it... Maybe I'm not paying much attention to the noises. I usually have the volume fairly low so I can hear my squad better.
On the other hand it could be a headshot... check if you get 60 points for the kill. If so it's probably a headshot. |

Well, it seems like reload and damage are important enough to spec into. Is charge time useful? The charge time is already pretty short. The Wiki says the fitting optimization lowers PG usage, but the Plasma Cannon doesn't use any PG up, so I can only assume that is wrong? Is it really useless? I run Amarr Logi with Laser, so I might spec into Plasma Cannons in a few months down the line. I like grenade launchers.
My problem with the Mass Driver was that it's damage was too low and it's RoF was too high. The projectile always dropped too fast for me for the map sizes, too. I used the M203 Grenade Launcher in the America's Army game for XBOX (yes, XBOX, not XBOX 360) years back and the training had you making 150m-200m shots with that thing. I loved how the gun felt there, I guess because it was more realistic, and have been disappointed with how grenade launchers feel in most shooters. I feel like grenade launchers should be precision weapons, not "shoot at the feet of the guy 10m away from you" so maybe I'll enjoy the Plasma Cannon later.

Thanks for telling me that. I died to a PC at medium range recently right after I turned and saw the projectile 20m from my face. I died from the splash since I was hurt, and thought the round would be slower. I thought I was imagining it. |

I really like to fit a Minmatar Medium suit to sprint at a speed of 8.4+ m/s, run at people and use the Plasma Cannon as a close range weapon. Oh, and if they manage to survive I finish them of with the SMG.
Also, Active Scanners, can't live without those anymore. Especially useful for flanking. |

Rapid reload will only shave off half a second off of the reload speed for a total of 3 second relaod at RR level 5. That there is a personal choice, whether to sink SP into that or just adjust your gameplay to get that extra half second for reloading. As for the Fitting optimization; it only affects the cpu. The skill was tailored for the plasma cannon since it uses no powergrid.
As far as damage goes, it's the number one priority on the weapon. Since most weapons can melt you while you realod that single shot has to count. I usually prioritize my suits by Weapon then 2 complex damage ods, then armor and then sacrifice on everything else for a good assault type fit.
If you are going to be doing lots of logi work then I prioritize on defense, equipment and then sacrifice firepower after I've stacked my defense mods and put top tier equipment on.
It's all about choices and your play style. If you get good enough to where you are constantly direct hitting your opponents then the damage mods are not even necessary since the base damage will most likeley do the job but if your relying on splash Like I do most of the time then stacking damage mods is by far the best options since lots of time the best defence is a OHK with splash or enough damage to make the run away. |

Are you using a speedy tank with minmatar or are you relying on cover and regulators? As for gallente, I would say the absolute best dropsiut to use the plasma cannon with. With 5% to cp/pwrgd reduction + 5% cpu reduction from fitting optimization + 3% reduction to cpu usage for light weaponry, the plasma cannon can reach a 65% reduced CPU usage. Whith this reduction a PROTO PLC that uses 117 cpu to fit will only use 40.95 CPU (35% of it's original CPU usage). On any suit, specially proto, in which you want to stack offensive and defensive mods this is a huge boost.

Shield Recharger/Energizer on the left and all 3 plate types (ADV) on the right. I generally like to stick back some and lob a shot to create the delay so my shields can start charging (takes ~5 seconds to get back to full shields once they kick in) which lets me get back to the line to do my LogiBro work. With the GalAssault, making the PRO Cannon cost only 41 CPU 0 PG is better than most ADV weapons of any type as far as resource cost. I almost went GalAssault but I have always been drawn to the multiple equipment that the Logi suit gets.
