I have been play Dust 514 since early beta and as of now Dust 514 is an incomplete game, unfinished and unrealized. There are so many features that are promised that have as of yet to make it into the game.
Dust 514 is currently at version 1.7 with additions and changes coming every month.
Now I say all this with the understanding that Dust 514 is still a work in progress and that there will always be new and more awesome stuff coming down the pipe to us.
But WHEN will it be in a "Finished" state?! When will we have all the racial variations of drop suites and vehicles? When will we have all the game modes and match types? Whats the time line here?! Your killing my desire to play CCP. I love this game and I love the New Eden universe so much! I want to play with my brother on the other side of the country in some crazy PVE. I want to place orders with my Eve Online friends for my jump suites.
I'm not asking to be given it now, I'm not. I know that good things come to those who wait. Dust 514 is a VERY good thing. So I will continue to wait but whats the time line here? Can we have a time frame to look at?
Example: 1.8-Vehicles fixed, 1.9 All Gallente and Amarr drop suites added, 2.0 Planetary Conquest mode fixed and updated, 2.1 All Minmatar and Caldari drop suites added, 2.2 PVE added E.T.C..
I just want to brag about this amazing game to my friends but i can not/will not in its current state. I work 12hr days and sleep for 8hrs that leaves only 4 hrs to do anything extra and as a married man with a home my time is VERY important and I DO want to spend some of that valuable time with Dust 514. I'm sorry I don't want to whimper and wine here but please give me something!!
Thanks for your time. Olomo

Never.
CCP will continue to iterate on it on a regular basis, just like Eve is iterated on and changed as time goes on. Eventually we will have the things that they want to add as of today, but tomorrow they want more things, and even more things the day after tomorrow.
On a side note: I think the expectation that this will be a "finished" game is why people get frustrated with the game; other games don't do this - once it ships, it is a "finished" product, but not with CCP games. |

Things that need to be done before I'd consider DUST complete:
All racial dropsuits Racial HAVs, LAVs, Dropships Amarr/Gallente heavy weapons A functioning market A legitimate reason for EVE players to interact with us
Balance tweaks are endless and just part of having an online multiplayer game. PVE would be sweet, but that's "expansion content." |

Ok I know this. And I said as much. But when will the BASICS of a FPS be there? PVP, PVE, Multiple game modes, and Factional Equipment? |

To be honest - I'm at work and didn't read the content of the post - just answered the question in the title. Sounds like your title may not be in line with the post. |

My list would be almost identical.
All variations of racial dropsuites. All variations of racial equipment Fully functioning player market Multi Stage Planetary Conquest Player Vs. Environment A better new player experience

EVE is already a complete universe, so you are wrong. It may get continual tweaks and new content, but it is functionally complete.

I keep getting my words crammed back down my mouth.
What i intended by using that word is to convey, some how, that if nothing else was ever added, when would it reach the point that it would be playable for a long time? No additions in a seance.
If they were no longer adding stuff at what point does it become a fully functioning game? |

i already quit dust. the game is full of glitches, connection failures, rendering problems, extremely low fps, extremely flawed hit detection, and most of all scrub players. imagine how long it will take them to fix all of these problems? it only took them four months to somewhat fix aiming because it still feels broken. so sayonara **** CCP. |

That's an incorrect use of the term beta. You could say the same about any production system if your definition is so loose.
EVE may be forever evolving, but it's been out of beta for a decade and functionally complete for at least five years. It has a full compliment of ships, a functioning player market, etc. It's a full sandbox.
It's a complete game that evolves and gets new content.
DUST is incomplete as it lacsk obvious content like full racial suits, equipment, weapons, and vehicles. It lacks any player market and don't try to tell me that its EVE connection is meaningful, much less complete.
Everyone loves to tout the evolving nature of the game, but they should get their terminology straight.
Beta (computing, technology) A development status given to a program or application that contains most of the major features, but is not yet complete. Sometimes these versions are released only to a select group of people, or to the general public. The testers are usually expected to report any bugs they encounter or any changes they'd like to see before the final release. This is the second major stage of development following the alpha version, and comes before the release candidate.
DUST has been released as an incomplete game. It lost its beta status over a yer ago, but it's still incomplete. |
