I got a proto gallente logi sniper I use 4 complex profile dampners, would it be better to just tank instead? |

It depends where and how you snipe. I put stamina regulators on mine to get to sniping places quicker or be nite capable if running away more if I need it. If you snipe close to the battlefield, you might want armor. If you snipe near ridges, maybe dampners to not get caught by scouts. If you're good at hiding, you might not even need either. I use my advanced scout suit for my sniper build so I don't even need dampers. I got 2 enhanced damage mods, 1 basic stamina regulator, and 1 basic CPU upgrade. Also, I suggest not using grenades if you need extra CPU or PG since you probably won't use/need them. |

This is what I thought too, but going agains some heavy snipers that hide in the recline I realized that there is almost no way to kill a well tanked sniper unless you get a squadmate to sync charge shots. |

I hunt redline snipers with speed-fit suicide suits & scanners. If I can't find them that way I pull out my own sniper fit.
So either you're resistant to one of my anti-snipers, or the other. The second costs more, but I'm more likely to kill you multiple times once I have the drop on you. |

Fit enough armor/shields to survive a counter-sniper hit and use the rest to boost stamina (allows you to relocate faster) and damps. At least that's how I do it.

Keep in mind:
1. Snipers that hide in redline never move from their spots
2. Snipers in redline have the redline for defense
These two factors means that heavy snipers' biggest threat is other snipers - and so tank > stealth.
Now a good sniper that actually moves around inside the combat zone should use stealth > tank.
Oh also - redline sniping shows someone who is usually scared, and not as good of a sniper because they do not take risks. |

I'm curious as to how dampeners work against counter sniping. I have ran into some snipers who didnt have a spotter floating over their head and only turned red when my crosshair hovered directly over their body (meaning the only way to find him is to physically see him). Wasnt sure if it was the terrain that was hiding his presence or if he had dampeners on. |

He was behind terrain - dampeners only work for the mini-map. |

I've got a dampened sniper and I'm still found and one shot on occasion.
They can find you by tracing your shots or simply knowing where the good sniper locations are.
I was just thinking of building an armor tank sniper that could sit on four or more proto triage hives. I would build the sniper nest with a Logi fitting, then swap out to a heavy suit with the rifle. I figure that might be invincible as long as the hives held out, giving me the opportunity to counter snipe anyone trying to pop me.
Has anyone tried that? |

it's worth it if you're actually in the fight. if you're camping some tower or redline sniping then we're talking about very different snipers in concept. |

I do a gal light proto with armor mods to take an alpha shot from a counter sniper.
I run a closer range cal logi suit with extenders for the same reason plus anybody else that might shoot at me.
Dampners are only good if you are trying to scout around on any medium suit.
If you shoot or a sniper is scoping then you'll be seen anyway. |

This is the perfect reason why you need to move around when you are sniping. Then you aren't a fish in a barrel - you are a counter-counter sniper.

I suppose I ought to specify my playstyle, I usually only snipe when I'm in squad, and stay no more than 200-150 m away from the action,, so I can still use active scanner. I keep eyes on my squadmates usually just one and don't countersnipe unless asked too. I do move around a great deal at times and avoid hight spots, should I tank or dampner.
I also run proto assult wt scrambler rifle
And logi wt shotty
And assult wt plc(my current fav)

Holy crap dude. If you can't hide, then light yourself up like a fireball, strap on the armor and reps.
I'm actually going to try this audacious rig.
Who knows, you might draw an OB or two away the rest of your team.

I just put on a heavy suit with a charge sniper/submachine gun. For mods I use armor plates, armor repairer and a damage mod. I immediately scan the mountains/other spots that would be good for sniping for other snipers. I haven't died from an enemy sniper so far (unless I got careless or he had a Thales). BTW I got 3 Thales the other day but they were on a different character, is there anyway to trade items? |
