AR now is probably a placeholder, but anyway the real thing the AR needs is recoil, kind of battlefield recoil, because the range is not the problem, the problem is extremely high accuracy of the AR at very long range at full auto, i can keep firing my 60 bullet clip to a target at 70 meters and i will miss 1/3 of the clip, instead of firing by burst at long range to keep on your target, but full auto at medium range or close range, its a very low skill high reward weapon, its not broken OP BUT it does have an advantage to other weapons, also hip-fire is very accurate , it has high damage high rate of fire, high clip size, long range and extreme accuracy, it needs a challenge for players, something to master, right now its very easy to use it, and also the range of the STD AR makes the tactical kind of outclassed, the tactical is supposed to be the high accuracy one |

Fired a whole clip at an unsuspecting target from 39m and barely 12 hits landed and dealt damage... from separate bursts. |

Michael real AR can easily drop someone at well over 200m! But also snipers can hit a watermelon at 2Km, grenades have a kill radius the size of a tank, Shotguns can kill as far as 50m.
This is a game! Ranges are extremely condensed.
AR is typically short mid range. However DUST is unique in that we have weapon types!
Projectile Projectile - Hybrid Energy Energy - Hybrid
Each one has a more preferred range of engagement! However they attempt to copy each other via variations! As such the AR does not offer the typical game style of a 1 weapon soultion, if you want to fight across multiple ranges you need all variations of whichever RR you prefer.
This is also a game where your choice of weaponry extends beyond AR, short range AR, AR with a big mag, sniper shotgun! As such the AR becomes even less of a see all do all soultion giving weapons like the mass driver, shotgun and sniper DISTINCT advantages in certain situations.
Except its not. Why use an MD when an AR is just as effective against a mob? Why use a shotgun when an AR requires no aiming at the same range? Why use a sniper when an AR can be just as accurate by feathering the trigger? Why use a laser when an AR provides more damage with out the need for heat? Why use a HMG when an AR is more powerful at 20m?
The only weapons that you can't beat with an AR is AV! There are no penalties for hipfire, you have ridiculous sized mags, negligible reload time, no ballistics rapid fire rates, unerring accuracy, no kick (if you are getting kick from the AR thrn you are spraying and praying).
The list goes on, but basically the AR has no drawbacks, and truth betold the ScR aren't really any better! |

Yeah I honestly only said the AR needs less range because everything else has terrible range compared to it, but instead of nerfing its range it might actually be better to boost the other weapon ranges. I don't think though that the HMG should have a better range than an AR, even though in real life a minigun would have more range than an AR. |

The only thing i must mention becasue i felt cheap, was killing a Laser user while my ''optimal range'' said 60% and he probably had 120%-100%...and i won. LOL |

69m away is not a bad spot for an AR to kill you with. Why do you guys continually bring up minimal range as if the AR is shooting you from the stratosphere?
Because there are three long range rifles right now and only two of them have any downside. We want weapon variety but when the Gallente AR, serving as the stand in for all racial ARs as a standard weapon while if we stick to the "lore" should be a close range weapon, becomes the best choice at any range we tend to get problems. |

Out of all the kills I've collected with the AR, I can't say that they were earned. Point in a red's general direction, hold down R1 until they die, rinse and repeat. Truly a no skill weapon. |

Just imagine if we buffed ARs cause they felt the MD was OP.
