Based on your preferences, you seem like a shounen man; I suggest Cowboy Bebop, as it is consistently ranked as one of the best animes ever. Another one is Rurouni Kenshin, which has a slow start, but it builds very well. I also recommend Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic; it's up and coming, but pretty good overall. |

You have to watch it all the way through. Most of the series is character progression; the ending is the killer part, but is only effective if you watch all the other episodes. Also, on Rurouni Kenshin: watch ONLY until episode 62, after that episode, it's utter filler and terrible. Once you're done with that though, watch Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal OVAs. |

boku no pico, that stuff mind rapes you, don't watch it. now that we've got that out the way i'm watching familiar of zero, its pretty decent. as for my favourite anime, Sword Art Online is definitely one, Soranowoto is another, sunday without god (new and very, very good), bodacious space pirates is decent, black lagoon is good, so's code geass though it can be a tad cheesy at times. Guilty crown would have been on there if the main character wasn't annoying nough that i stopped watching after episode 5. Kensin's good, though read the manga on that one, usagi drop, another favourite, so's my little monster, that one is pretty good.
oh and before i forget, Baccano!, one of the best anime's i've ever watched, its fantastic. |

All time favorite: Trigun
My current favorite that is airing right now is "Attack on Titan". Though I am also following "Valrave the Liberator" and "Highschool DxD" as well. "Sword Art Online" is great too. "Accel World" is by the same guy who made Sword Art so if you liked that I highly recommend checking it out and vice versa. "The Devil is a Part Timer" is also interesting if you dig comedy. "Campione" is also good if you like shonen style with some romance thrown in.
Oh and "Coppelion" is good so far but only has two episodes out as it just started airing on Hulu so we shall see. It is a post apocalyptic type setting with three genetically modified females as the main cast. Of course for some dumb reason they also wear school uniforms but no idea why because the tactical situation they are in would be better served with a different set of clothes lol... |

why do you like SOA? honest question no troll, I watched the whole thing in two days the first because I loved the series and the second day because I wanted it to end.
during the first half I was like "oh noes! there is no season 2 what will I do when it ends it's sooo good." then I thought what would they do with a second season? get trapped in a different game... that would be super lame. they could do a slice of life re-adjusting to the real world thing that could be good I guess.
and then they did it! they got stuck in another game and I hated every second of it and I wanted so badly for it to be over. that corny villain Jesus christ capcom has better writers.
as far as recommendations for people looking for something good:
Ouran High school host club (yes I'm a dude, yes I laughed my ass off) Gundam 00 5 centimeters per second boco no pico darker than black elfen lied angel beats! black rock shooter CANAAN cowboy bebop the girl who leapt through time ghost in the shell Higurashi no Naku Koro ni last exile [I picked this simply for the goat] Toaru Kagaku no Railgun

I imagine Sword Art will follow the manga so it will take place in Gun Gale Online. I don't want to spoil the manga, but it will follow that plot line probably. Read the manga if you want to know what is probably going to happen. I liked SAO because it was interesting. You don't see many anime about virtual worlds besides the .Hack shows and Accel World which is by the same creator as SAO and probably takes place a few decades after SAO(references to Nerve Gear in it). Though I do agree that the time in SAO could have gone on for the full season. It was a bit rushed at the end.
EDIT: Also, the "special feelings" the sister had for her brother were a bit odd... even if they were not technically blood related. |

For Starters: Boku no Pico
...A man must be broken before he can truly enjoy life...
Special Mentions:
Hanamaru Kindergarten: Not very good, but through YouTube it helped me find...
Familiar of Zero: Re-sparked my interest in anime, likely forever. Saw all three seasons in one day. Was sad when I found out the creator had cancer, later the next year he was cured and the final season aired. Loved it.
Some of my Favorites:
Angel Beats: The single saddest thing I've watched, totally worth it though
Mirai Nikki: When an anime gives birth to a meme you know it's good.
Death Note: Blissful
Cowboy Bebop: No words needed
Sword Art Online: Actually a prequel of sorts to Accel World which I've yet to watch. Good.
Inuyasha: I was so young...
Dragon Ball/Z: Is this not everyone's first?
Elfen Lied: Dark as hell. So freaking dark.
Ouran High School Host Club: <3
Black Butler: Surprising amounts of... "male bonding". Still one HELL of an anime though.
Oreimo: Don't judge me. Bad ending.
Kenichi: History's Mightiest Disciple: I wish it had a 3rd season though.
Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood: For obvious reasons.
The Eccentric Family: Just ended. Nice change of pace.
Blue Exorcist: Good. Movie just came out too.
Currently:
BlazBlue: Alter Memory: FINALLY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS WAITING
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic: Just started.

EDIT: oh anothr good one, Fate/Zero, very good anime, haven't got around to watching Fate/Stay yet though. |

Possibly. The creators are busy doing other projects currently I believe but want to revisit it when they can. There is a lot more material to use so I would say it is a good possibility. |

If you'd checked the other thread you'd see that they aren't just listing shows, they are discussing them.
But hey, I was just trying to help, I have a feeling that sometime down the line, having duplicate threads for the same topic will get annoying so I was trying to get everyone to switch to the older one. |

Generally, I prefer manga over anime, I can read at my own pace, and if there's a moment that is particularly touching I can dwell on the page without being pressured to continue (and cry if I have to).
Lately I've really liked Watamote a.k.a "no matter how I look at it, it's you guy's fault I'm not popular." Tomoko is hilariously awkward and, well, I guess I know how being lonely feels like. For me High School is/was/will be/ the worst experience of my life. So to see an anime that doesn't shy away from that but makes it funny is incredibly refreshing.
My other favorite anime:
Revolutionary Girl Utena- I'm in love with Utena FLCL Vision of Escaflowne (but I dislike the movie) Neon Genesis Evangelion (and the end of evangelion, but I don't like the remakes) Redline Girl Who Leapt Through Time- actually made me want to play baseball, but I never did Nausicaa
and
Ouren High School Host Club- although I prefer the manga.
I also want to see Kill la Kill and Nana. |

also i finally got around to buying and watching 5 centimetres per second, very good anime, highly recommend it. |

Legend of Korra may as well be classified as an anime despite being a product of the United States as it is heavily influenced by the style. It is also a really good show. One I am comfortable with my daughter watching so its good family viewing fyi. |

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) shares the same voice actor for the main character with Magi; SNK/AOT is pretty good to boot (even though there are complaints about the last episode of season 1 from the manga fans). I'm planning on watching Madoka Magica, which I hear is pretty sad. Also, I've been recently watching AnoHana, which I hear is also extremely sad. Another of my buddies recommended Planetes to me; I've been thinking of watching Clannad and Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to broaden my horizons. The latter requires a special watching order though. Eventually going to get around to watching the first 2/3 of Death Note and Baccano! Still looking to watch Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex as well as FLCL. So little time, so many shows. |

Madoka Magica isn't just sad - it's epic. Every episode past 3 is a twist.
Clannad and Haruhi were made by the same people - both equally praised as being some of the best shows. Clannad season 2 especially. Haruhi season 2 has the "Crazy 8" which is where the same episode repeats 8 times - with minor differences.
Anohana is like clannad season 2 - tear jerker indeed.
The rest of the shows you mentioned are good - but beware planets as it's slow. |

Anyone here play Touhou? It's an game series with anime art-style that's really fun (and hard). The entire game series, and all their print works (ranging from manga, to book, to artbook) are available for free too, here's their official website: http://moriyashrine.weebly.com/
They also have OVAs (fan-made, not official) but only 2 (of 3) episodes have been released so far. |

A great romance with a interesting style is lovely complex. Not over dramatic and a real feel good anime. You may need to find a fan sub ( most dubs are bad) and the only dub I ever found nearly ruined it for me so go for a subbed version.
Hellsing ova version either dubbed or subbed are amazing.
Hajime no ippo. Great boxxing anime and the manga is at over 1000 chapters
Bento. Not the best but i enjoyed it with its take on a fighting anime.
Blade the vampire hunter because mother ******* blade yo.
Pumpkin scissors. A bloody great warish anime. A must watch.
Mouse for sheer generic anime cliches and utter cheese fest.
Monogatari. Great art style and the character interaction is some of the best writing ive ever heard and read.
Some off the top of my head, will add more when I review my favs will add I watched these part from hellsing which I watched both subbed and dubbed that I only watched the subbed versions. So cant guarantee the quality of you dubbed lovers out there. |

By the way, I've been using Anime Avenue for the past couple years, they're really quick with subs for the most part. Found ^^^ Beyond the Boundary on there too!

I've chosen the OFFICIAL Anime Thread, come at me.
I was down to one anime(Magi season 2) which is strange for me. So I decided to watch the entire Monogatari series starting with Bakemonogatari. To compare it to something I'd say it's like Mushishi except with lots of metahumor as opposed to heart touching drama. Conversations are very fast paced and not much happens action wise. Still good nonetheless.
