When I commit suicide with them I laugh a little. Whether someone shoots them as I place them or when they throw a grenade. I don't think they get points for the kill. |

As an explosives expert i tend to get ALOT of hatemail/fanmail/GGs and it sees that there are some people out there that seem to think that remote explosives require no skill, are OP, and that im some sort of hellspawn of a troll who laughs as the bodys fly.
well part of that is right at least.
most people are used to the standard tricks of placing remotes on objectives, and tossing one as you die for the revenge kill. those are pretty standard and used quite oftin, by dedicated explsives experts and well everyone.
its not that imaginative and most deaths caused by them are easily prevented, you cant really get mad at that... you shoulda looked before you leaped, and against anyone whos smart and watches the killfeed it just plain wont work.
most people who use them that way use them like a sidearm, or like the equipment they are, a neat little trick to get an extra kill or two and give you a shot at defending an objective from far away.
unlike them however, they are my PRIMARY weapon. more then 70% of my kills are from remotes, and every day im coming up with new and interesting ways to sue them, from dropping them on people from above, to finding ways to trow them like frisbees, to (briefly) attaching them to teamates faces and letting them walk around as my own personal mobile explosive.
to drive this point home my weapon is an SMG wich is just weak enough to be underestimated and usually causes people to chase me like im an easy kill.
i use my remotes to hold CQC objectives from overwhelming numbers and once i get entrenched its extremly hard to remove me if i have some meat shields running around as distractions.
those that have faught me, please tell me. are REs OP?
do they truly require (no skill)? Look at the core nade ^. |

Its always hilarious to go "I got this guy ...see him Ru..."Explodes" from previously laid explosives but to be fair these things don't or badly render on my PS3 so when i do see them i am already in the "In My Face" zone and most of the time unable to back out of it.
Having said that in my own Honor system i use ingame, explosives have always been a cheap way to get quick kills, like the noobtube or second wind guys getting most of their kills from one-shotting or getting killed-but still be able to kill the guy who killed you from second winding, though claymores setup with a spring trigger in a tactical location is fine, being able to throw C4 instakill-cookies as extra grenades feels wrong in my book, not only does trhowing these bypass cooking / timing grenades as you can just throw and press the button at the right time.
Personally, i have issues with every weapon that can One-Shot someone else, without the need for aiming.

Lol, if idd use them (witch i don't) i think they would be a real asset to my playstyle, or maybe they would be too tedious to use with KBM, like grenades.
But i imagin if i in a scenario like yesterday, assault a position, peek trough a wall, take out 2 guys ...backup ..place explosive ...wait for chump to come get me .."BOOM" ...move trough shoot some more people, backup again and then a blob came trough the crack, killed half of the blob and then i overheated my Imperial aand it went downhill from there... but with the explosive, they would have all been dead.
Though i am not sure if i would be ok with "aiming in advance", i am too much of a relic with my own imposed honorable codes i suppose....

eh, dont bend your own code for them its not worth it.
me? im a tactician. i read the battle and act acordingly.
using REs as a primary weapon requires prediction and manipulation. i purposly take hits so that i apear weak, or leave a remote int he open to stall for time as they waste effort getting rid of it. place them out of sight or in such a way that they have to leave themselves open if they want to get rid of it, alowing me to shoot with the SMG or give me a second extra to cook my granade.
they are also REALLY tedious with KB/M we really need hotkeys for KB/M users to quick swap to equipments the wheel just doesnt work...
i use DS3 (with aim assist off that thing just gets in the way) and have everything just stored in muscle memory so i can swap to remotes just as easily as someone else can switch to their secondary.

No no no Op the REs are fine you have to plan ahead etc...Its not like you can run out holding down a trigger and get kills then it would be an AR. You shouldn't have brought all this attention to RE no all Ars are going to cry when you dent their k/ds.Then you know what happens next ..NERF BY AR HAMMER. |

Something amazing happened. I planted 4REs in B. There was a heated battle in CQC. we kept spawning at letter they kept sawning in cru next to it. we kept spawning spawning. We lost the fight at the end. But we had the cru. everyone was dead inclucing me. I try to spawn qucikly to detonate because enemy was hacking in a group. nobody spawned in to kill them. Out of nowhere 2 or 3 kills. Someone exploded them! Stopped the hack clean. then my team was able to spawn and keep defending. enemy couldn't attack no more, no more uplinks I suppose.
My REs won the war!!! |

Dust 514 is a shooter but there is a tactical element as well.
And there is nothing, in my opinion, more tactical than a weapon that can single handedly protect an objective even when you are on the other side of the map. |

If you see someone who runs Remotes on the other side and/or see a kill feed using Remotes. Right then and there your mind should tell you " Nothing is as it seems " when approaching them or a objective you even think they might have come across.
Something about sloppy second's jokes would come to mind me thinks regarding this.

I didn't read the responses, but I very rarely die from these, I always nade objectives, and I always see them on the ground from the hopefulls. Skill wise they are the same as nearly all other explosives on this game, not much required at all, though remotes can be one of the most deadly things in the game when I player gets skilled in their deployment, I saw someone get 7 kills from 1 the other day, mini OB lool. |

RE dont bother me one bit. Its not widely used and it requires good placement or at least creative placement. Its not like one of the death ray weapons out there where just holding down fire = dead people. |

Remotes are like the easiest thing to avoid, I've never been killed by one for a very long time
For every objective you plan on hacking, toss a grenade at it, and boom, its safe to hack
I'm surprised more people just don't do that as well. |
