It should. They are really rare, but at same time much more effective than market ones.
They are great for PC, gives much adventage, but in pubs and FW, they do terror. Thales, balac and Gastun these 3 do most terror. -Thales in my opinion are the only what they should use (1-2shoots kill like in real) -balac is jack of all trades. It stats is like from ASR but have more rof + AR accuracy. -Gastun beast in dmg and speed. Destroying vehs in seconds and splash infiantry.
Now what im saying. If guy eqiup balac he can 1v1 very easy (just some aim) When in squad, he will do insane dmg while in cover. Too powerful for starting/learning ppl (up to few milions sp) Thale one shoot STD, and most ADV suits. Just easy farm with no death. Gastun makes game unplayable for vehs. If he capture tower with logi, you will even dont come near point till OB can be called.
It really should be better to lock officers weapons only for PC. Think about it and discuse. |

Risk vs reward. Pulling out an officer gun in a pub match is like rolling a joint in a hookah bar. |

Killed a couple of protos on Friday using balacs 1v1 while in my BPO suit. Shot them again to make sure they couldn't be revived.
Rare but satisfying.
Counter argument is not everybody who can use officer weapons are in PC matches or in organised corp squads for FW so instant battles maybe all they have. |

There is no current method to prevent a Merc from spawning in with whatever equipment they have available to them at the Supply Depot. This includes choosing which HAV to pub stomp in Ambush with.
In fact you can enter the Neocom, edit a fit to swap out your GEK with a Balac and choose that one.
We have asked for some variant on this many times. However, we have asked for it as a Battle Finder Filter option.
I disagree with your request, BTW.
Officer weapons are rare, quite true. However, until we can actually Sell Salvage, they are Free and can turn a very expensive fit into a reasonable one. I have many Officer weapons and the ones I am skilled into I will use when they are the best choice for the situation. Like when I decide that Red Supply Depot has to go; Gaston's Forge Gun will take it out in 9 shots. That is one and a half clips in about 20 seconds. And I have taken a Balac to a Duvolle wielding Red that was holding off my squad. Poof, the roof was clear in one clip.

So basically you're unhappy that someone can maximise rewards whilst minimising risk.
This is the game we play. When I see officer gear in a match I fling militia fits at it like a madman. They probably love all the kills it gets them, but they'll miss that gun when I drop in off a rooftop in a soma. |

I play it exclusively, but since I cannot get officer gear, since I play all Amarr, I couldn't use it.
What does it matter if someone else decides to. They might kill me in a straight up fight, but I guarantee him my team will win the match. |

The only problems with Officer weapons is that most offer 15% more damage than the prototype version, except the Balac.
The Balac AR has 15% more damage, 15% higher RoF, 20% higher clip size and a larger range.
It does almost 35% more damage per second than a Duvolle, compared to other Officer weapons that do 15%. It's a beast. |

Okay. Thanks for opinions. Soo they might can use them. We can do it in other way. Dont know why CCP dont separate newbies from normal/vets. They could learn more when fighting more time with guys on same skill level (not sp). Im talking about making more reqiurment WP to play like other. Now academy have 1,2k which is few games for them. They should add 10-15k to limit. How about it? |

Id say academy for at least 50k wp and give thrm some game mode options instead of domination over and over again |

The academy is a joke, all it does is delay the pub stomp. They come out with minimum useful advice and basic weapons in a game where equipment effects the game by 80% or more. The op is right, i have 2 accounts over 12 mil so im not a new dusty complaining but there does need to be a separation from vets to new are at least a place for vet or new player only. I been in plenty of worth less games where my team redlines the randoms (NPC Corps) 2-3 min into the game, which makes for a boring game. |

I agree the academy is not for teaching, its for reinforcing what has been taught which isn't much so far.
We need a separate 'danger room' where players can get a brush up with the game mechanics. |

Id say academy for at least 50k wp and give thrm some game mode options instead of domination over and over again This ... and some default help channels where vets can hang out and help out noobs with advice and answers ... someone made a really good thread about this a while ago ... also suggesting things like incentives for vets to school noobs by leading a noob only squad and themselves being restricted in gear ... something like basic gear with a nullifier on skill point affects so all those level 5's don't count ... but you'd be rewarded with a couple hundred AUR per match, or some nice isk payouts from the NPC corps or something.
Edit : by default help channels I mean ones that are open when they log in ... maybe even channels they can't leave till they're out of acadamy, or at the very least use the tutorials to push them into a list of various channels to choose from, like a logistics help channel, or a HAV help channel, or a scout help channel etc. |

Why should we?
We earned those officer weapons. (They don't appear in salvage for no reason) And we also earned the SP to be able to use them. Yeah proficiency level 3 isn't a walk in the park (unless you have omegas).
And using officer weapons itself is a risk because of the fact that if you lose it, it's gone. No merc pack, AUR, or ISK will change that. That is why they aren't banned in the first place.
And like Iron Wolf Saber said, yeah they aren't invincible. |

I've only seen an officer weapon in use by the enemy team once (not counting Thales). And I gaurantee you that after I blew him to bits with my freedom, he didn't use another one.
This idea gets a 1 out of 5. |

And if you lose the Soma, so much the better. Even if not, you know that the Red was LHAO.
All of which helps set the base price of the gear once the players market opens.

FW is always low sec, means you can essentially bring almost anything from Frigates to Battleships, you can cyno in Capitals and more.
There are no limits to FW nor should there be.
I mean if Officer tanks/ Factional Tanks become a thing I will spend all of my time LP farming so I can drop them in FW matches and look bad ass. |
