Boot Booter wrote:Look everybody! I never said I hate uplinks and think no one should use them and that they aren't hard to fit! I was simply saying they give far too many WP. I mean I run scanners and light up the whole map with reds for my squad to destroy.. How is that less useful than a spawned dood? I know many people who run with uplinks JUST for the points.. I want uplinks to yield good points but place them equal to other equipment so that we get some diversity.
To reinforce this point, I could argue that a well used nanite injector is a more powerful tool towards winning but no one runs with them anymore because they don't farm WP as easily. I just want some balance :)
So you are saying that scanning an enemy is more important than providing the ability for your squadmate to be there in the first place and get you the points for the assist?
Every piece of equipment has its role and difficulty of fitting to match its points imho, I carry two sets of uplinks each only having one active, just to do this and still have an efficient suit i have spent a good deal of SP and do spend a good deal of isk. I can also say without a doubt that my uplinks can and have changed the course of a battle.

Boot Booter wrote:So I'm not here to start a QQ thread and listen to everyone yell at me (I think up links are great) but, drop uplinks give too many WP and has lead to everyone spamming them about. The recent changes to the scanner etc has helped but drop uplink are still, by far, the most efficient way to farm WP. Think about it, why should some stupid blueberry who spawns in on your uplink only to run quicker to their impending doom give you 25 points. How in the world does that equal half a kill? You could nearly top the leaderboards by running in a militia suit with poorly placed up links while actually doing more damage than help to your team. Anyway I'd like some feedback on my grand list of ideas below.
Reduce spawn points to 15 and raise nanohives resupply to 15. BOOM that's it. Then there is balance (for the most part) in the equipment world.

I get like 150 WPs again for spamming an uplink. Is that a lot? Because I get well over 1500 WPs for repping and reviving. 60 a revive, plus 75 for each person I revive, unless it's a heavy and I get double points. |

The more people spam them, the less overall WP each merc will receive. Eventually peeps will see what they are spending their isk on and change their habits.
Uplinks are huge resource hogs, swapping an uplink for anything else is very appealing if the person using them doesnt get much in the way of a return. This will balance itself out in time.
Uplinks are just the EOTM. |

Right on... I'd be happy to get credit for an uplink near lightly guarded objectives that get a lot of traffic as soon as they get dropped!
However, given this place, some joker would use it then drop one 5m closer... |

Michael Epic wrote:This game isn't about killing people. Its about capturing NULL's, destroying MCC's, gaining corporation power and acreage in New Eden.
Killing is a byproduct of it...but equipment and supportive functionality still key role. Drop Uplinks just as much or more important than any other piece of equipment. How would you have them work? Be able to tell who are blueberries and who aren't?
That's silly and a lot of extra work and programming for no gain. totally agree tht they are a key role but ive noticed recently tht the mini map is clogged with drop uplinks, and thought there should be an option to turn off or on certain markers, or remove allied 1s completely from mini map, I also think u should gain a small amount of points from placing them they should be used strategically as all war games are about strategy, also think they should in effect be mini scanners so u can clearly see when a spwan point is over run as spawn kills are frustrating.

Boot Booter wrote:Lol I know people go through a lot of trouble to get sweet uplink spots and that's great. I think up links are awesome. But some people don't go through a lot of trouble and just throw them somewhere for points, because they give A LOT of points. What I would like to see is an incentive for good uplink locations and more points for resuppling teammates / repairing armour.
Two things...
Nobody uses a ****** uplink unless they have to. People placing ****** uplinks don't get many points since nobody will use them unless all the others are gone. The only thing that needs to happen is not let one player throw down 2 or 3 of each type of uplink they have on different fits such that they accumulate.
And two, I'll throw ****** uplinks for my own use. I know I want to get across most of the map again after I die and I don't expect anyone else to want to spawn there.

This is a pretty old thread. I've already been convincingly proven wrong. Uplinks don't give that many points. Thank you though. |

It was a bit ridiculous the amount he spammed.
