God news if you ask me, but still they could have been better. Like hiring some one from BF3 not the "Heroes" guy.
One of many sources out there: http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/08/ccp-games-hires-former-battlefield-heroes-executive-producer-jean-charles-to-head-up-dust-514-team/

OK now that I understand that Battlefield Heroes is (probably) not equal Battlefield Play 4 Free I still don't understand what you are trying to say. I don't know this to games, are this two completely different games?

Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield Play4Free are two separate games. Heroes is a cartoony TPS, and Play4Free is basically Battlefield 2. Both of them are free to play games, though.
It's kind of a pointless distinction though, because he's worked on both of them as the executive producer. |

Thanks! And are this game good? I mean, is this guy worth hoping? Btw. is this not a discussion about the two games, I was asking for a explanation.
I also would like to know WHEN he starts or if he already started. |

I think there might actually be hope, I'm not kidding
The past 6 months have been a rag tag crew of devs with no one leading them. They've done good work but the game needs a lot of work and a fresh pair of eyes can only spell a new direction ! Be optimist! This game is already great in the ways it's stands apart, but it could be so much more!
It just needs a roadmap and to be fair it's kinda hard to make a roadmap when no one is controlling the direction. |

He took a lot of heat from players when BFH went more toward Pay2Win. He has a video presentation defending the decisions he made to make the game profitable showing that he indeed did that.
One thing that BFH had going for it was the fact that the actual in game mechanics and balance were sound to begin with. It was no TF2, but it was decent.
Dust 514 is no where near being in league with either of those games on a fundamental level so that's where the focus of his work should begin - building a box around all this sand. Then he can go about making the game profitable. |

Battlefield Heroes is carton-FPS designed for yonges FPS players that are out there. This game have no blood, violence etc. and it it mainly P2W similar to Battlefield Play 4 Free with is a little bit of a modified BF2. I do not think that it is worth to play these games. If you have bought of buddies just buy PC version of Modern Warfare 1 and play on local with them <- it's gonna bring you way much more fun than spending a loooot of cash on that "free to play" products. |

Thing is that on console's the P2W becomes murky. But I agree with that if a game is F2P it should be that way. But as for paid games like the rest of BF and other games on consoles. (and many competitive games) SHORT CUTS are almost common now.
Don't feel like unlocking all the guns? Pay $20 and it's yours. Don't want to unlock all cars? $20 bucks and its yours. Different is that most FPS games ones HP is the same for everyone. So it really doesn't matter witch gun you pick cause I've known guys who all they use in knives.

I haven't done my research on those F2P Battlefield titles our new EP worked on.
I know players didn't like changes made to the revenue model of one of those titles, but my primary concern re DUST is how were the core mechanics, 'feel' and attention to detail? Seems like both were fairly solid at first glance.
Second concern is that those games were sharded, so wondering how well skills and experience in getting core mechanics working there port to our situation here in DUST.
I did see in a one line blurb that he said he was an EVE player. If true that always makes me hopeful because without experienceing it and being attracted to it, New Eden is a hard thing to 'get'.
Tbh i'm not worried about DUST's connection to EVE/New Eden at all - the only reason it hasn't happened is because CCP isn't going to be pushed into it without taking care of the core FPS experience first, and wisely so. And those connections need to made in concert with Seagull and EVE-side dev team and although the DUST EP will no doubt play a role in that, there's much more to the story, imho.
Time will tell. |

This guy is mostly responsible for EA being voted the worst company in the world 2 years running(not just video game company, but a business overall). He is cancer, and only makes games into F2P profiteering schemes.
DUST 514 is good as waste. CCP could only acquire the barrel's bottom at this point. The DUST project will be a short term ruin.
I expect a huge revamp to the payment and revenue system as the first large overhaul and update under this new Executive Producer. |

Last time it was EVE, you have to pay for it. But this time it is a F2P and I agree on the point that EA, mirco transaction and this P2W/F2P models are the modern day cancer for video games. This dude is the second EA employe that CCP hire. |
