At least i didn't lost my 16 mil sp merc like some players are losing their characters in GTA Online because of server issues. I heard that some players lost their Online characters.
And, i bought Final Fantasy XIV, tried to update and, on the New Tab, discovered that i have to Pay a monthly fee to continue to play after the initial 30 day, or the Free Trial. But, nobody told me that, on the description of the game, in the PS Store, nothing mentioned that.
So, CCP can be deleting the Merc Pack, introducing the "Craptical Pack", they can be messing their game with all the balance thing, but hey, at least the game is "playable" and they don't charge me with some covered monthly payment. |

If you didn't understand FF was going to be a WoW storyline MMORPG business model that has been running the MMORPG category for almost 12 years... ?
I don't think any developer could be prepared for the level of traffic GTA has received... Could you imagine if 100 million people eve tried to connect to a CCP game? |

From what I've read on reddit, people's GTA character isn't actually being deleted. It's bug that makes it appear to be deleted and the "fix" is to just restart the game. Though most people just create a new character which overwrites the old one. I don't own the game so I can't say whether it's true or not just that it's what I've read.
For FF14 plenty of articles about the game stated it wouldn't be free to play well before it came out. |

Jita is extremely fortified with hardware... we have been through like 6 separate testing phases for it, through the years. the PVP in 0.0 is largely better because we request Server fortification from CCP in the area's we plan to fight before hand... and they reallocate server resources to that area to accommodate us.
When large scale battles happen in 0.0 space that escalate without plan system numbers get well over 1k quick.. and the nodes are even worse as they accompany several system's and alot of players are still traveling to battles when they are just finishing.. then counter gate camps, and fights.. and capital cyno bridges.
We have lost the node several times to have 2 thousand players + logging back on with no Fleet and a sea of red. CCP improves this every chance they get however... and battle scales as far as EVE online are ground breaking...
Could they take a surge of 100 million customer's? Heyell no... No one in their logical mind could say so. |

I never played any WoW. M point is: When you buy a game on PS Store, there's a description about the game. Buuuut, on the description of FF XIV, it didn't say nothing about monthly payment. |

Yeah, my mistake. But when you buy something, you can see the description of the product. I wouldn't buy it if in the damn description said that the game requires monthly payment. I'm not even mad about the prce, just this lack of information. Like somone said up here, the cover of the game has an alert about it, but the digital copy didn't say nothing about it. |

Should be pointed out CCP at one point, dont know if it still is, CCP maintained along with IBM the fastest super computer in the gaming industry to host Tranquility.
CCP can handle a lot of traffic, more than most people would think possible.
What they had is pretty much a concrete bunker with hundreds of IBM blade servers lol.

Isn't there something to say for CCP's credit when 50,000 players can interact together on a single shard. That's certainly not the case for GTA online. It's probably more like 25+ players for any given instance of a region. |

A network drop prevented me from using "Exit GTA Online" and the character appeared deleted no matter how many times logging on or even after a PS 3 reboot. I returned today after a day and half (about) only to find my missing level 12 Hustler alive and well.
Today Oct 8th instead of trying the new Dust 514 content I will be on GTA Online preparing stage one for my first heist. Petty convenience store cash, bit change from stolen drug money, and sucker car repo'ing can only take a thug so far. |

GTA Online is amazing. Each session can support up to 16 players and you can create crew only or invite only sessions. The PVE / co-op aspect works really well, and is key to making huge stacks of cash.
The characters vanishing bit is pretty obnoxious, but a technical hurdle they can sort. Also consider they are supporting 16 million nerds with this system. Thats nuts.
The problem appears to possibly be in the load balancers for the cloud storage machine. If they get swamped the character details don't write. |
